Cobham Estate.
ORDERED, That Sir Chr. Musgrave, Sir Roger Bradshaw, Mr. King, Mr. Ayliffe, Mr. Rashley, Sir Hen. Goodrick, be added to the Committee, to whom the Bill for raising Money on Cobham House and Park is committed.
Kelshall Charities.
An ingrossed Bill for settling certain charitable Uses in the Parish of Kelshall, in Suffolke, was read the Third time.
Resolved, &c. That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, An Act for settling certain charitable Uses in the Parish of Kelshall in Suffolke.
And Sir John Pettus is to carry up the Bill to the Lords.
Brend's Estate.
Sir Tho. Stringer reports from the Committee to whom the Bill to enable Francis Brend Esquire to sell Lands for Payment of his Debts, was committed, an Amendment, agreed by the Committee to be made to the Bill: Which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same, being again twice read, was, upon the Question, agreed.
Resolved, &c. That the Bill and Amendments be ingrossed.
Platir's Debts.
A Bill to enable Tho. Platir to sell Lands for Payment of his Debts, was read the First time.
Resolved, &c. That the Bill be read a Second time.
French Manufactures.
Ordered, That a Bill be brought in, for prohibiting French Wine, Brandy, Linen, Salt, Silks, Paper, and all other Commodities of the Growth or Manufacture of France, for the Term of Three Years:
And it is referred to Mr. Sachaverell, Sir Eliab Harvy, Mr. Powle, Colonel Bircher, Sir Wm. Coventry, Sir Tho. Lee, Sir Tho. Littleton, Sir Tho. Meeres, or any Three of them, to prepare and bring in the Bill.
Silk and Woolen Manufacture.
A Bill against importing foreign Silk and Woolen Manufacture, was read the First time.
Resolved, &c. That the Bill be read a Second time, after Ten of the Clock.
Army Estimate.
An Establishment of the Charge of maintaining a Regiment of Foot was read.
Ordered, That the Establishment, now read, be referred to the Consideration of the Committee of the whole House.
Supply.
The House then resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to proceed further in the Consideration of his Majesty's Supply, for the Support of his present Alliances made with the States General of the United Provinces, for the Preservation of the Spanish Netherlands, and lessening the Power of France.
Mr. Speaker left the Chair.
Sir Edward Deering took the Chair of the Committee.
Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.
Sir Edward Deering reports from the said Committee, That they had taken the Matter referred to them into their Consideration; and had agreed upon Two Votes: Which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: And the same are as followeth; viz.
Resolved, &c. That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That Twenty-six Regiments of Foot, each of One thousand Men; Four Regiments of Horse, each of Four hundred and Ninety; Two Regiments of Dragoons, each of Nine hundred and Sixty; are necessary for the Support of his Majesty's present Alliances made with the States General of the United Provinces, for the Preservation of the Spanish Netherlands; and lessening the Power of France.
Resolved, &c. That the House be moved to appoint a Committee, to consider of the Charge of the said Regiments; and to report it to the House.
And humbly moved from the said Committee, That they might have Leave to sit again To-morrow Morning.
The said Votes being again read: A Motion being made, That the Words "during an actual War against France," may be added to the First of the said Votes; and the Words "for a Month" may be added to the latter;
The Question being put, To agree with the said Committee in the said Votes, with the said Additions;
It was resolved in the Affirmative.
Resolved, &c. That, during an actual War against France, Twenty-six Regiments of Foot, each of One thousand Men; Four Regiments of Horse, each of Four hundred and Ninety; Two Regiments of Dragoons, each of Nine hundred and Sixty, are necessary for the Support of his Majesty's present Alliances made with the States General of the United Provinces, for the Preservation of the Spanish Netherlands; and lessening the Power of France.
Resolved, &c. That a Committee be appointed to consider of the Charge of the said Regiments, for a Month; and to report it to the House;
And it is referred to the same Committee to whom the Consideration of the Charge of the setting forth and maintaining the Ninety Ships of War is referred.
Resolved, &c. That this House will, on Monday Morning next, at Ten of the Clock, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to proceed further in the Consideration of his Majesty's Supply, for the Support of his Majesty's present Alliances made with the States General of the United Provinces, for the Preservation of the Spanish Netherlands; and lessening the Power of France.
And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Eight of the Clock.
