Present: The King: Lord Ashley, Treasurer of the Household,
Sir John Duncombe. |

Sir John Bankes being called on and a proposition being made
to him of furnishing the Victualler of the Navy with money, he
offers to lend the sum of 25,000l. upon condition that the orders to
the value of 25,000l. which he hath registered upon the Act for
raising 310,000l. on wines, may be so placed as to be paid in a year
and a half from Midsummer next. Upon which His Majesty was
pleased to let him know that he accepts his proposition, and that
one half of his said debt upon the Wine Act shall be paid in twelve
months from Midsummer next, and the remainder in six months
after, and that his security for the same shall be perfected before
Midsummer next. And for the 25,000l. which he is to lend he
shall have tallies of loan, and for repayment be placed upon the
first part of the second quarter of the subsidy. |
