PRAYERS.
Persons committed.
ORDERED, That Tyson Smyth, and the other Seamen that brought the Ship over to Yarmouth, be committed to the Serjeant's Custody: And that the Examination of the Business be referred to the Committee for Informations.
Essex Posse Comitatus.
Ordered, That the Sheriff of the County of Essex be required to raise the Posse Comitatus, so often as he shall be required, either by the Lord Lieutenant of the County of Essex, or any Two or more of the Deputy Lieutenants; to be disposed of as the Lord Lieutenant, and the Deputy Lieutenants of the said County shall direct.
Horses discharged.
Ordered, That the Dragooners, the Carriers Horses, and the Lord Fielding's Chaplain's Horse, stayed by Mr. Bell, by virtue of an Order of both Houses, be forthwith discharged.
State of the Kingdom.
Ordered, That the Committee for the Safety of the Kingdom be required forthwith to inform the House, in what State and Condition the Kingdom now stands; that this House, upon mature Consideration, may take such farther Order for the Security and Safety of it, as they shall think fit.
Subscription of Money, &c.
Ordered, That the Mayor, the Two Sheriffs of Bristoll, Alderman Tomlinson, Alderman Charleton, Alderman Hallworthy, Rich. Vickeris, Luke Hodges, Citizens, or any Two of them, be appointed to go from House to House to desire every Man to subscribe to the Propositions; to keep Books of their Names; to receive the Monies, Plate, and Horse; and to give Receipts; and to put the Propositions in Execution, according to the Instructions.
Ditto.
Mr. Taylor is appointed to send down Copies of the Propositions to Bristoll; and to write his Letter to the City, to encourage them to subscribe upon the Propositions.
Maimed Soldiers, &c.
An Ordinance of the Lords and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, declaring their Resolutions of making Provisions for those that shall be maimed in this present War, who are in the Service of the Parliament; and for providing for their Wives and Children, &c.; was this Day read; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto.
Person to be brought up.
Ordered, That the Serjeant do send one of his Servants forthwith, to make Stay of Captain Beresford and his Trunks; and to bring the said Captain Beresford to the House.
Ditto.
Ordered, That Captain Ashley do forthwith bring up Mr. Peregrin Pelham, to attend the Service of the House.
King's Children.
Ordered, That the King's Children, now at St. James his House, be in this Time of Danger, removed to some convenient House in London: And that all necessary Provisions be provided in London for them: And that the Earl of Pembroke be desired by both Houses, to give Order to make ready the Lord Cottington's House in Broad-streete, for them.
Ordered, That an Ordinance of Parliament be drawn, to enable Mr. Cornelius Holland, a Member of this House, to receive the Coinage Money in the Minte, due to his Majesty, and now in the Hands of the Officers of the Minte, and to issue the same out for the Support and Maintenance of the King's Children at St. James': And farther to receive and issue all such Monies as shall be assigned for their Service.
Mr. Rigby, Mr. Millington, Mr. Rous, are appointed to prepare an Ordinance of Parliament to this Purpose.
Oxen seized, &c.
Ordered, That the Seven Oxen of Mr. John Busbye's, a Recusant of the County.. Bucks, now stayed in Smythfield, be delivered to the Victualler of the Navy, to be accountable for to the House.
And it is farther Ordered, That the Money for the Five Oxen of the said John Busby, sold to Butchers, be delivered to Captain Bence; to be employed for Fortifying of the Neck of Land over against Durham House: And that the Butchers be saved harmless for so doing: And that those that have taken Pains in that Business have Forty Shillings of it for their Encouragement.
Apprehending Ld. Moulineux.
Ordered, That it be referred and recommended unto Sir H. Heyman and Mr. Skinner, to apprehend a Gentleman in the County of Kent, that goes under the Name of the Lord Moulineux, and does much Disservice there to the Commonwealth.

Ordered, That Mr. Rose be admitted into the House.
Durham House.
Ordered, That the Fortifying of the Neck of Land over against Durham House be referred to the Committee for the Navy, to take some Order forthwith in it.
Persons committed.
Ordered, That Mr. Roger Clerke, Mr. Job Weale, and Mr. George Gildon, for being refractory to the Propositions and Instructions, which they refused to subscribe for Bringing in of Horse, Money, and Plate, be forthwith committed Prisoners to the Compter in Southwark; there to remain during the Pleasure of the House.
Persons sent for.
Resolved, upon the Question, That Dr. Coleby, and Mr. Hamon Claxton, Clerks of Norfolk, be forthwith sent for, as Delinquents, for not only not contributing Themselves to the common Charge, in this Time of common Danger, but for dissuading others, and hindering, as much as in them lay, the Subscriptions in that County.
Plate from Lime Regis.
Ordered, That the Place brought in upon the Propositions, in the Town of Lime Regis in the County of Dorsett, be forthwith sent up to London, by Land or Water, as they themselves shall think safest, and most convenient.
Leave of Absence.
Mr. Peard has Leave to stay in the Town of Barnstaple, and the Country, for the Service of that Town and Country: And that he shall be dispensed with for his Service here.
Oath of Association.
Resolved, That the Oath of Association, now brought in, shall be taken into Consideration at this present.
Ordered, That the House be called To-morrow, at Ten of Clock: And that the Form of the Oath of Association, now brought in, from the Committee, be then taken into Consideration: And all the Members of the House that are about the Town, are injoined to be here present To-morrow, to attend the Service of the House.
Papists in Lancaster.
In regard of certain Informations sent to several Members of this House, that serve for the County of Lancaster, from some of the Deputy Lieutenants now residing in their County, and werewith the House hath been made acquainted, that the Papists there, as in other Places of this Kingdom, are now licensed to rise; and that accordingly they have beaten up their Drums to gather Force, whereby the Peace of that County is much in Danger; It is therefore Ordered, by the and Commons, now assembled in Parliament, That the Deputy Lieutenants, and all other Officers in that County, shall forthwith use their best Endeavours, that the Persons, of all such Recusants, and others, whom they shall conceive affected to the Disturbance of the Peace of that County, or malignant to the Proceedings of this present Parliament, shall be forthwith disarmed and secured.
Justices of Peace in Lancaster.
Upon Information of some of the Members of this House, of the great Increase of Poor within the Town of Manchester, and other several Places in Lancashire, by reason of the unavoidable Decay of Trade, occasioned by the unhappy Distractions of these Times; and that the Justices of Peace, who were formerly of great Use in those Parts, have been lately, without any just Cause appearing, displaced; It is this Day Ordered, by the /?/ and Commons, now assembled in Parliament, That Edw. Lord Newburgh, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, shall forthwith issue out Commissions of the Peace to the several Gentlemen herein named; viz. Sir Ralph Ashton, Baronet, Ralph Ashton of Middleton, Rich. Holland, John Bradshaw, Wm. Radcliffe, Rich. Shutleworth, John Braddell, John Starkey, Esquires; Sir Tho. Stanley Baronet; Jo. Holcrofte, Tho. Standish, Geo. Doddinge, Tho. Fell, Peter Egerton, Esquires; whereby the County may receive Benefit by their Care, as formerly: And that he shall not discharge the said Gentlemen from executing the said Commissions, tending to the Good of their Country, till the House be acquainted therewith, and take farther Order in it. And it is farther Ordered, That the said Edw. Lord Newburgh shall immediately discharge Sir Gilbert Houghton, Knight and Baronet, Robert Holt of Stubley, Alexander Righby of Brough, John Greenhaegh, Edm. Asheton, Sir Alexander Radcliffe, Wm. Farrington, Orlando Bridgeman, Sir Edw. Wrightington, and Roger Kirkeby Esquires, from being farther employed as Commissioners of the Peace within the said County: And he is also hereby required to render both Houses an Account of his due Performance of this Order.
Maimed Soldiers, &c.
An Ordinance of the Lords and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, declaring their Resolutions of making Provision for those that shall be maimed in this present War, who are in the Service of the Parliament; and for the Wives and Children of those that shall be slain.
WHEREAS divers Persons now are, or hereafter may be in the Service of the Parliament, in the present War undertaken for the Preservation of the King's Majesty's Person, the Defence of the Religion and Laws of the Realm, and of the just Liberties of the Subjects, who have little or nothing to maintain themselves, their Wives, and Children, but by their own Labours: The Lords and Commons, for their better Encouragement in the Service, do Order and Declare, That the Lords and Commons will provide competent Maintenance and Allowance for such of them as shall be mained, and thereby disabled by their Labour, to provide for Themselves, their Wives and Children, as formerly they did; and, in the Distribution of such Allowances and Rewards, they will always have Regard to the Deserts, and the Service of each Person: And, in case any such Person shall be slain, that they will make Provision for the Livelihood of their Wives or Children. And, in case any Persons of Estate shall be slain, or die in this Service, the said Lords and Commons do Declare, That they will take the Estates, Wives, and Children, of such Persons, into their Protection: And, in case their Estates shall not, at the Time of the Death of such Persons, be settled, they will be always assistant to the Friends of the Party deceased, in the Settling and Disposing of their Estates, in such Manner as may be for the most Advantage of their Wives and Children; and shall, upon all Occasions, let their Children and Posterity know the Respect they bear to the Memory of those who have spent their Lives in the Service of the Church and Commonwealth.
Listing Horses.
For several Orders for the Searching the Stables, and Listing the Number of Horses, within the Parishes of St. Giles in the Fields, St. James Clerkenwell, Savoy, St. Clement, St. Andrewe's Holborne, were this Day read; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.
Prisoners in the Tower.
Ordered, by the and Commons, That all the Prisoners in the Tower of London be forthwith kept under such Restraint, as that not any One Prisoner be suffered to have above Two Servants, or permitted to have Speech or Converse with any other Prisoner or Person, but in the Presenee or Hearing of his Keeper.
Shops to be shut up in London, &c.
Ordered, That all People within the Cities of London and Westminster, and the prime Head Places and Liberties thereof, and in the Borough of Southwark, and the Suburbs, be required to shut up their Shops, and forbear their Trades, and other their ordinary Employments; that so they may, with the greater Diligence and Freedom, for the present, attend the Defence of the said Places; and put in Execution, and perform such Commands for the Defence and Safety thereof, as they shall from time to time receive from the Lord Mayor, and Committee for the Militia; both Houses of Parliament; the Committee for the Defence of the Kingdom; or the Lord *.
Ship Richard.
Ordered, That the Ship Richard of Newcastle, Mich. Pereth Master, bound for Dantzick, and now in the River of Thames, and stayed by Order of both Houses, be forthwith discharged.
Ly. Covett.
Ordered, That the Lady Covett shall have Liberty to go into Sussex, with such Servants and Horses as she shall think necessary for her Retinue.

Scotch Commissioners, &c.
Two Ordinances; One for the Safe Conduct and Safe Guard of the Commissioners for Conservation of the Peace of the Kingdom of Scotland; and for the Divines that shall come from the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, to the Assembly of Divines appointed to meet here in England....
Safety of Ly. Stowel.
Ordered, That it be referred to the Deputy Lieutenants of the Counties of Sommersett and Wiltes, that they take Care for the Safety of the Person of the Lady Stowel, and of the Goods in her Houses; provided that she give no Shelter to any Malignants, nor receive into her Houses any Arms, or other warlike Ammunition, than such as shall be allowed unto her, for the Safety of her Houses, by the said Deputy Lieutenants.
Sherborne Castle.
Ordered, That the Deputy Lieutenants of the County of Dorset do give Order, that Sherborne Castle be forthwith demolished, according to the former Order of both Houses, notwithstanding any Pretence of any Protection, or any Words, or other Resistance used by the Countess of Bristoll; and that they search for Arms, or other warlike Ammunition, in the said Castle, Lodge, or Dwelling-house, and seize the same.
Writ to be issued.
Resolved, That Mr. Speaker shall issue his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown in Chancery, for a new Writ, for Electing of another Burgess to serve in the Stead of Mr. Tho. Smyth, formerly chosen to serve for *, and expelled the House, and since deceased.

Resolved, That this House doth nominate and approve of Jo. Bradshaw Esquire, to be Deputy Lieutenant of the County of Lancaster.
Sherborne Castle.
Ordered, That what Monies shall be expended upon the Dismantling and Demolishing of the Castle of Sherborne, under Five hundred Pounds, shall be defrayed out of the Monies that come in upon the Propositions within that County.
