Saturday, August 13th, 1659.

Prayers.

Union with Scotland.

THE House, according to former Order, was resolved into a Grand Committee, upon the Bill for Union of Scotland with England.

Mr Speaker left the Chair.

Mr. Garland took the Chair.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Garland reports from the said Grand Committee upon the Bill for Union of Scotland with England, That the said Grand Committee desire the Leave of this House, That the said Grand Committee may sit on Thursday next, upon the said Bill.

Resolved, &c. That the House be resolved into a Grand Committee, on Thursday Morning next, upon the Bill of Union of Scotland with England; and that Mr. Speaker do forbear to take the Chair.

Irish Adventurers.

Ordered, That the Bill for settling the Lands of the Adventurers and Soldiers in Ireland be reported on Monday Morning next, the first Business; nothing to intervene.

Person to attend.

Ordered, That Dr. Samuell Winter do repair into England, out of Ireland, and attend the Pleasure of the Parliament.

Yorke Militia.

A Letter from Commissioners for the Militia in the County of Yorke was read: And a List, inclosed, of Names of Commission-Officers for the Militia in the County of Yorke, was also read.

Ordered, That this Letter and List be referred to the Council of State, to take the same into their Consideration: And that the Members of Parliament, that serve for the County of Yorke, do confer with the Council thereupon, for settling the Militia-Forces, so as may be best for the Service of the Commonwealth, and Ease of the Country.

Delinquents Estates.

A Bill, ingrossed, for Bringing in of Second Moieties upon the Sale of Lands forfeited to the Commonwealth for Treason, was this Day read the Third time.

Resolved, That the Blank in this Bill be filled up with "13 September 1659."

Resolved, That there be a Third Register-Accomptant added.

Resolved, That Henry Robinson be, and is hereby, nominated and appointed a Third Register-Accomptant in this Bill.

Resolved, That the Quorum of the said Register-Accomptants be any Two of them.

And the said Bill so amended, being put to the Question, passed.

Ordered, That Mr. West, Mr. Dormer, Colonel Lister, and Mr. Cawley, do peruse this Bill, before it be printed, to see that it be not incongruous and inconsistent.

Money due to Robinson.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for Inspection of the Treasurers, to examine, What Money is due to Mr. Henry Robinson, In whose Hands it is, and, Why it is not paid; and to report their Opinion therein to this House.

Salaries of Officers.

Ordered, That no Part of the Money to be raised, or paid in, by this Act, shall be paid out by the Treasurers for Salaries, or otherwise, without special Order of the Parliament, or Council of State.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of Inspections, to allow such Sums of Money, in Gross; in lieu of the Salaries of the respective Officers for Sale of Lands forfeited to the Commonwealth for Treason, and in Compensation of their Pains taken in carrying on that Service, both for the Time past and to come; as they shall think fit.

Isle of Wight Militia.

Mr. Nevill reports Amendments to the Bill for settling the Militia in the Isle of Wight: Which were Twice read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

The said Bill was read the Third time.

Resolved, That this Act continue until the First of March 1659, and no longer.

And the said Bill, so amended, being put to the Question, passed.

Militia Commissions.

The House being informed, that divers Officers of the Militia of the City of London were at the Door;

They were called in: And, being come up to the Clerk's Table, Mr. Speaker acquainted them with the great Trust reposed in them by the Parliament; and that the Parliament expected Faithfulness from them to the Parliament and Commonwealth: And thereupon Mr. Speaker delivered them their Commissions; viz.

To Captain Lieutenant Samuell Charlton, to be Captain-Lieutenant of Colonel Owen Rowe's Regiment:

To Lieutenant Wm. Werden, his Commission to be Lieutenant of a Company in Colonel Owen Rowe's Regiment:
