Mrs. Bodvell's Petition, for her Children to be taken from her Husband.

Upon reading the Petition of Ann Bodvell, the Wife of John Bodvell Esquire; shewing, "That her Husband is ill affected to the Parliament, and afterward was restored to a Capacity of compounding for his Delinquency; and he having brought the Petitioner into a most unhappy and miserable Condition by the Evil of his own Ways, yet to add to her Afflictions, he doth deny her the Sight and Care of her own Children, but refers them to the Lady Bodvell the Petitioner's Husband's Mother, to be educated in the same Opinions of Averseness to the Parliament and irreligious Courses with himself (of whose said Averseness and ill Disposition the late deceased Husband of the said Lady Bodvell did in his Life-time cause her own Children to be taken from her to be educated by others); which will be to the Children's Ruin, if not prevented:

"Therefore the Petitioner desires the Children (being Three Daughters) may be forthwith placed with such Persons well-affected to the Parliament as this House shall please to appoint."

It is Ordered, That Mr. Bodvell shall have a Copy of this Petition, and shew Cause to this House on Monday Morning next why the Children should not be committed to the Custody and Care of Sir Wm. Russell the Grandfather.

Message from the H. C. with a Declaration about paying 200,000£. to the Scots.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Pierrepont; who brought up a Declaration, passed by the House of Commons, concerning the paying of Two Hundred Thousand Pounds to the Scotts, wherein they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

The said Declaration was read.

And it being put to the Question, "Whether to agree to this Declaration, with the Addition of these Words ["by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled"]?"

And it was Resolved in the Affirmative.

The Answer returned was:

Answer.

That this House will take their Message into Consideration, and will send an Answer by Messengers of their own.

Message to the H. C. that the Lords agree to it.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Doctor Aylett and Doctor Heath:

To deliver to them the Declaration, to which their Lordships do agree, with the Addition, wherein their Concurrence is desired.

E. of North'ton to have his Papers from Doughty; and to have Possession of his Houses and Parks.

Upon reading the Petition of James Earl of North'ton; complaining, "That he is obstructed in making his Composition with the Parliament, because one Mr. Thomas Doughty Gentleman hath his Writings in his Hands."

It is Ordered, That the said Thomas Doughty shall deliver to his Lordship his Writings and Evidences for the perfecting his Composition; and that it be recommended to the Committee of Lords and Commons for Sequestrations, that he may have the Possession of his Houses and Parks, whereby he may make such necessary Repairs for the Preservation of them from Ruin and Destruction for Want thereof.

Col. Ridgely and Atkins.

Upon reading the Petition of Colonel Rugely; complaining, "That he is arrested, by one Atkins, contrary to the Protection of this House, dated 7 Junii, 1645."

And also upon reading the Petition of Atkins; shewing, "That the said Colonel Rugeley is taken upon Execution for One Thousand Pounds."

It is Ordered, That a Habeas Corpus be issued out, by the Clerk of the Crown, returnable immediatè, to bring the said Colonel Rugly before this House.

And it is referred to the Earl of Kent and the Earl of Denbigh, to mediate an End between them, if they can, that so the said Atkins may have Satisfaction.

Brown, committed on L. Pawlet's Account; released.

Upon the Desire of the Lord Pawlett; Browne, who was committed by this House for serving him with a Writ: It is Ordered, That the said Browne shall be forthwith released.

Massey to be instituted to Kendall;

Ordered, That Doctor Heath shall give Institution and Induction to Henry Masey, to the Vicarage of Kendall, in the County of Westm'land; he being presented thereunto by Trinity Colledge in Cambridge: And this to be with a salvo Jure cujuscunque.

and Eburn to Acle, alias Ocle.

Ordered, That Doctor Aylett shall give Institution and Induction to Samuell Eburne Clerk, Master of Arts, to the Rectory of Acle, alias Ocle, in Com. Norff.; he producing his Presentation thereunto under the Hands and Seals of Sir Wm. Platers Baronet and Ric'd Onslow Knight, the Patrons: And this to be with a salvo Jure cujuscunque.

Ordinance for Sale of Bishops Lands.

Ordered, That the Report concerning the late Conference about the Ordinance for selling of the Bishops Lands shall be reported on Monday Morning next.
