Tuesday, July 9. Present:—Earl of Halifax, Mr. Grenville, Mr. Fane.
Barbados.
Read a letter from Mr. Grenville, Governor of Barbados, to
the Board, dated the 25th of May, 1751, transmitting the several
publick papers following, viz.:—
Copy of Monsieur Bompar's letter to Governor Grenville,
dated at Martinique, the 13th of February, n.s., 1751.
Copy of Governor Grenville's answer to his Excellency,
Monsieur Bompar, dated the 15th of February, 1750–1.
Copy of Captain Bladwell's account of his proceedings at
Tobago, to Commodore Holburn, dated May 8th, 1751,
his Majesty's ship Rose, English Harbour, Antigua.
Copy of Lieutenant Drummond's account of the state of the
Island of Tobago, dated the 18th of April, 1751, Tavistock
in Carlisle Bay.
Copy of Captain Falkingham's account of the state of the
Islands of Santa Lucia, Dominica and St. Vincent's, dated
the 24th of April, 1751, Shark, Carlisle Bay.
Copy of Governor Grenville's letter to his Excellency, M.
Bompar, Governor of Martinique, dated 3rd of May, 1751.
Copy of Monsieur de Bompar's letter to Governor Grenville,
dated at Martinque, May 21st, 1751, n.s.
Ordered that the said letter and papers be copied to be transmitted to his Majesty's Secretary of State, and that the draught of a letter be prepared.
Nova Scotia.
Mr. Kilby, agent for the settlement of Nova Scotia, attending, laid before the Board the following list of bills of exchange drawn upon him by Colonel Cornwallis, Governor of Nova Scotia, for the service of that colony, amounting to £6,498:—
Whereupon their lordships directed Mr. Kilby to apply to the Lords Commissioners of his Majesty's Treasury to enable him to receive the said sum of 6,498 pounds from the receipt of his Majesty's Exchequer to be applied and paid in discharge of the said bills of exchange.
Mr. Kilby then acquainted their lordships that, pursuant to their direction of the 6th of June last, he had examined the account of Mr. Robert's expence in obtaining foreign protestants in Switzerland for the province of Nova Scotia, and find the same to be true.
Ordered, that Mr. Kilby do pay Mr. Robert the amount of his said account, and also the further sum of thirty guineas for his trouble and dilligence in the execution of the service entrusted to his care.

Africa.
Read a copy of a letter from Mr. Anthony Gother, master of the ship Penelope, to Messrs. Basnett and Pole, inclosing a deposition of the said master and his ship's company, dated January 9th, 1750–1, relating to a settlement of the French on the coast of Africa, received from Mr. Hollier, Secretary to the New African Company.

Barbados.
The draught of a letter to the Earl of Holdernesse, inclosing copies of the letter and papers lately received from Mr. Grenville, having been prepared, pursuant to the minutes of the 9th instant, was agreed to, transcribed and signed.
Tuesday, July 16. Present:—Earl of Halifax, Mr. Pitt, Mr. Grenville, Lord Dupplin, Mr. Townshend.
Pennsylvania.
The draught of a letter to the Earl of Holdernesse, inclosing copies of Mr. Hamilton's letter of the 8th of February last, and of the papers therewith transmitted, having been prepared pursuant to the minutes of the 13th of the last month, was agreed to, transcribed and signed.
Trade.
Tunis.
The draught of a letter to the Earl of Holdernesse upon the proposal made by the Bey of Tunis for ceding to his Majesty the Island of Tabarka, having been prepared, pursuant to the minutes of the 13th of the last month, was agreed to, transcribed and signed.
Georgia.
The Secretary laid before the Board a paper, which Mr. Martyn,
Secretary to the Trustees for establishing the Colony of Georgia,
had desired him to present to their lordships as further evidence
of the probability there is of increasing the number of inhabitants
in the said colony, entituled:—
List of families and single persons intending to go to and
settle at Ebenezer in Georgia, who are at this time on
their way to England, as appears by a letter from the
Reverend Mr. Urlsperger, dated the 28th of June, n.s.,
1751,
and the said paper was read.
Nova Scotia.
Ordered that the Secretary do write to Mr. Davidson to desire his attendance next Thursday morning.
Plantations General.
Their lordships took into consideration the memorial of the French Commissaries, etc., relating to the Island of Santa Lucia, and the memorial of the English Commissaries in answer thereto, mentioned in the minutes of the 7th of last month, and made a further progress therein.
Leeward Islands.
Crab Island.
Read a letter from the Earl of Holdernesse, dated the 2nd instant, inclosing copy of a memorial of Monsieur Rosencrantz, Envoy Extraordinary from the King of Denmark, renewing the pretensions of the Danes to Crab Island, and directing the Board to report the state of his Majesty's pretensions thereto.
Ordered that the draught of a letter to the Earl of Holdernesse be prepared, in answer to his lordship's said letter.
Wednesday, July 17. Present:—Earl of Halifax, Mr. Pitt, Mr. Grenville, Lord Dupplin.
Leeward Islands.
Crab Island.
The draught of a letter to the Earl of Holdernesse, in answer to his letter inclosing a copy of the memorial of Monsieur Rosencrantz, having been prepared pursuant to the minutes of yesterday, was agreed to, transcribed and signed.
South Carolina.
The draught of a representation to his Majesty proposing Isaac Holmes, Esquire, to be of the Council of South Carolina in the room of Joseph Blake, Esquire, deceased, was prepared, agreed to, transcribed and signed.
Thursday, July 18. Present:—Earl of Halifax, Mr. Grenville, Lord Dupplin, Mr. Townshend.
Nova Scotia.
Mr. Davidson attending, as directed by the minutes of the 16th inst., their lordships acquainted him that they had considered his answer to the several articles of charge, and were of opinion, that, although he had disculpated himself of several of them, yet he was not a proper person to be continued Secretary of the province of Nova Scotia, and that they should report accordingly.
Georgia.
Their lordships took into consideration the Order of Council referring some parts of the memorial of the Trustees for establishing the Colony of Georgia, mentioned in the minutes of the 23rd of May last, and made some progress therein.
Ordered, that the further consideration of this matter be resumed on Friday the 2nd of August.
