Dinder (Som.): conf. to bp. Giso by kg. Edward Confessor May 1065 (Keynes, 'Giso' app. I no. 9); not in DB. Manor lost to William Fitz John, repossessed by bp. from William son of William before papal conf. of 28 Apr. [1176] (PUE II no. 156). Advowson of Dinder gr. to bp. Jocelin by William Flandrensis 1223 × 34 (Cal. I 496). (fn. 1) Church of Dinder described as in jurisdiction of dean of Wells 27 Apr. 1264 (CPR 1258-66 p. 315). Chapel of Dinder (dependent on St Cuthbert's, Wells) established as preb. by bp. William of Bitton II 4 Apr. 1268 (Cal. I 105).

Richard de Bamfeld
Bp.'s datary, can. by 1 Oct. 1261 (Cal. I 360), presum. preb. Wedmore V (ibid. p. 105; list 61). Transf. by bp. from preb. Wedmore V to newly established preb. of Dinder 4 Apr. 1268 (Cal. I 105; list 61). As can. he was charged with d. of Thomas de Graham and was summoned 12 May 1279 to appear before royal justices (CCR 1272-9 p. 521). Received bequest from will of Walter Giffard, abp. of York, 1 Oct. 1283 (Reg. Giffard (Worc.) II 215). Last occ. as can., on prec.'s side, 11 Oct. 1284 (below, app. 4 no. 28). Gave land and houses, (fn. 2) arrangement for his chantry and burial at altar of St Edmund of Abingdon, before 30 Sept. 1269 (Cal. II 578-9 (no. 145) = I 107-8; cf. ibid. I 449). Certainly d. by 30 March 1294 (ibid. I 108). Possibly related to Alexander de Bamfeld, preb. Buckland Dinham (list 15).
Next identified preb. is M. Richard de Plumstock, who first occ. as can. 2 July 1300 (CPL I 588 = Reg. Bon. VIII no. 3669; and see 2 Fasti VIII 42).
