Occ. in cats. between Albert Lotaringus and Baldwin, 'Hugo filius eius', i.e. son of Albert Lotaringus. Occ. as can. twice: 1115/16 (A/24/1478 and WD 4 fos. 19/23v- 20/24r, pd. in Rep. pp. 61b-62a); [c. 1108 × Apr. 1138] (WD 4 fo. 51/55v, pd. in Rep. p. 67a). (fn. 2)

Does not occ. as can., except as having res. this preb. for bpric. of Lincoln, presum. in 1173 and certainly before 1183 (Walter Map, De Nugis Curialium, ed. M. R. James (Oxford, 1914) p. 248). Bp.-el. of Lincoln, 1173-81; abp. of York, 1189-1212.

Succeeded Geoffrey Plantagenet in preb., presum. in 1173, and certainly before 1183 (Walter Map, De Nugis Curialium, ed. M. R. James (Oxford, 1914) p. 248). Occ. as clk. or can. [1163 × 73] (G.F.L. no. 439). Occ. as can. c. 1192 (D.S.R. II). Bp.-el. of Hereford, 1199; bp.-el. of St. Davids, 1203. D. between 15 March 1208 and 1210 (Rot. Litt. Claus. 1 106a; cf. Richard [de Fincheleya]
Occ. in cats. between Walter Map and Thomas of Stortford, 'Ricardus capellanus'. Presum. not yet can. [21 Apr. × 30 Dec. 1196] (Gibbs no. 103, and cf. nos. 183, 186, 285). (fn. 7) Only certain occ. as can. [c. 1201 × May 1212] (Gibbs no. 139), (fn. 8) but possibly can. before June 1203 (Gibbs no. 70). (fn. 9) Prob. to be identified with Richard de Fincheleya, the chapl., who occ. as can. [1212 × Apr. 1214] (Gibbs nos. 255, 263), [c. 1214 × Sept. 1216] (Gibbs no. 145), (fn. 10) 1215/16 (A/39/1369), and who cannot otherwise be assigned to a preb. (cf. below pp. 94-5).
M. Thomas of Stortford (fn. 11)
Occ. in cats. between Richard [de Fincheleya] and Peter of Bordeaux, 'Thomas de Storteford'. First occ. as can. 1217/18 (A/29/331). Also occ. as precentor in 1241, before May.
M. Peter of Bordeaux
Occ. in cats. between Thomas of Stortford and William of York, 'Petrus de Burdegal'. Apparently res. this preb. before 13 Oct. 1242 (C.P.R. 1232-47 p. 330; cf. ibid. p. 305). Still alive in 1262 (C.P.R. 1258-66 p. 207).
Peter Chaceporc
Does not occ. in cats. Royal gr. of preb. in St. Paul's in succession to Peter of Bordeaux, 13 Oct. 1242 (C.P.R. 1232-47 p. 330). Evidently ineffective, but Chaceporc occ. together with several cans. and with William of York, 21 May 1245 (Hist. Church York 111 161-2).
William of York
Occ. in cats. between Peter of Bordeaux and Stephen de Sandwic, 'Willelmus de Ebor''. Royal gr. of preb. in succession to Peter of Bordeaux, 24 Oct. 1242 (C.P.R. 1232-47 p. 305). Does not occ. as can., but occ. in connection with St. Paul's 21 May 1245 (Hist. Church York 111 161-2; cf. Peter Chaceporc, see above), [March 1243 × July 1247] (A/4/685, cal. in Rep. p. 4b), (fn. 12) and [Dec. 1246 × June 1247] (cf. A/4/686-92, cal. in Rep. p. 4b). Bp. of Salisbury, el. Dec. 1246, cons. July 1247.
M. Stephen de Sandwic
Occ. in cats. between William of York and Robert Parvus, 'Stephanus de Sandwyc. commutac.' (Cat. I), 'Stephanus de Sandwic'' (Cat. II). Presum. transf. from preb. of Weldland before 1255. Also archdcn. of Essex by Feb. 1253, to Aug. 1265 or later.
