Conference on Bill for Preservation of Fishing.

The Members appointed by the House, did attend, and manage the Conference with the Lords.

And being returned;

Mr. Powle reports from the Conference had with the Lords, That the Lord Privy Seal did manage the Conference: And that he said, That the Lords desired this Conference upon a Bill, intituled, An Act for Preservation of the Fishing in several Rivers in this Kingdom.

That the Amendments and Alterations which the Commons had made in the Bill were so great, that it had, in Effect, made it a new Bill: For, whereas the Bill, as it was sent down, did extend to all the Rivers in several Counties of this Kingdom; they are now all struck out of the Bill, except only the River of Seaverne.

That no Reasons having been delivered at a Conference for so great Alterations, the Lords did see no Reason to agree to them; and so have sent down the Bill.

My Lord Privy Seal, being asked, If the Lords did disagree to the Amendments sent up by the Commons, did Answer, "I do not say, The Lords disagree; but, That they cannot agree to those Amendments."

Resolved, &c. That the Consideration of the Proceedings at the Conference be adjourned till Tuesday Morning next, Ten of the Clock.
