Poll Tax.
AN ingrossed Bill for raising Money by a Poll, and otherwise, was read the Third time.
And some Amendments being made at the Table;
Resolved, &c. That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, An Act for raising Money, by a Poll, and otherwise, to enable his Majesty to enter into an actual War against the French King; and for prohibiting several French Commodities: And that Sir Edw. Deering do carry up the Bill to the Lords, for their Concurrence.
Preventing Popery.
Ordered, That Sir Edward Deering do remind the Lords of the Bill intituled, An Act for suppressing the Growth of Popery.
Lords desire a Conference.
A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edw. Low and Sir John Franklin;
Mr. Speaker, The Lords desire a Conference with the House of Commons, To-morrow at Eleven of the Clock, in the Painted Chamber, upon the Amendments made by the House of Commons to the Bill for Preservation of the Fishing in several Rivers of this Kingdom.
And the Messengers being withdrawn;
Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree to meet the Lords at a Conference, To-morrow at Eleven of the Clock, in the Painted Chamber, upon the Amendments made by this House to the Bill for Preservation of the Fishing in several Rivers of this Kingdom.
And the Messengers being called in; Mr. Speaker acquaints them, That this House doth agree to meet the Lords at a Conference, To-morrow at Eleven of the Clock, in the Painted Chamber.
Winchelsea Return amended.
The Clerk of the Crown and the Mayor of the Port of Winchelsea were called in; and did amend the Return for the Port of Winchelsea in the County of Sussex.
Clandestine Marriages.
An ingrossed Bill, sent from the Lords, intituled, An Act to prevent clandestine and irregular Marriages, was read the First time.
Resolved, &c. That the Bill be read a Second time, after Ten of the Clock, in a full House.
Ledbury Vicarage.
Ordered, That the Committee to whom the Bill of Ledbury is committed, be revived; and do sit this Afternoon in the Place formerly appointed.
And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Eight of the Clock.
