Hearth Money.

ORDERED, That the Committee to whom the Bill for regulating Abuses in collecting the Duty of Hearth Money, was committed, be revived; and do sit To-morrow at Two of the Clock in the Afternoon, in the Place formerly appointed: And that Mr. Morris, Mr. Palmes, Sir John Hotham, Sir Rich. Graham, Sir John Reresby, Mr. Stockdale, Sir Metcalfe Robinson, Sir Hen. Thompson, Sir Hugh Bethell, Mr. Pierpoint, be added to the said Committee.

Cotton's Estate.

Mr. Crouch reports from the Committee to whom the Bill to enable Sir John Cotton Baronet, to dispose of a Messuage called St. German's and Lands used therewith near St. Alban's in the County of Hertford, That the Committee had carefully perused the Bill; and compared the same with the Deeds recited therein; and had summoned and heard the Parties concerned therein: And that they were all consenting thereto: And that the Committee had agreed upon the Amendment to be made to the Bill: Which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same was again twice read, and, upon the Question, agreed to.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill, with the Amendment agreed to, be ingrossed.

Gery's Estate.

A Bill, sent from the Lords, intituled, An Act for the Settling certain Lands belonging to Wm. Gery of Bushmead in the County of Bedford Esquire, in Trustees, to be sold for the Payment of Debts, was read the Second time.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be committed to Sir Edm. Jenings, Mr. Crouch, Sir John Covert, Sir John Fenwick, Sir John Barnaby, Sir John Heath, Mr. Pepis, Mr. Okely, Mr. Buscawen, Sir Gilbert Gerrard, Serjeant Rigby, Mr. Percy Goreing, Captain Price, Sir Fr. Compton, Sir Lyonell Walden, Lord O Brien, Sir Nic. Pedley, Mr. Westphaling, Sir John Lowther, Sir Anth. Irby, Mr. Mann, Mr. Williams, Mr. Henly, Mr. Daniell, Sir Tho. Proby, Sir Fr. Northern Borders.

An ingrossed Bill to prevent Theft and Rapine on the Northern Borders, was read the Third time.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, An Act for Continuance of Two former Acts, for preventing Theft and Rapine on the Northern Borders of England.

And Sir John Trevor is to carry up the Bill to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Preservation of Fishing.

Sir John Trevor reports from the Committee to whom the Bill for Preservation of the Fishing in several Rivers of this Kingdom, was re-committed, That the Committee had agreed to several Amendments to be made to the Bill and Title; and had adapted the same to the River of Seaverne only: Which Amendments he read in his Place; and atterwards delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were twice read; and, upon the Question, agreed.

And the Bill, with the Amendments, being read a Third time;

Resolved, &c. That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, A Bill for Preservation of the Fishing in the River of Seaverne.

Ways and Means.

The House then resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of the Manner of raising the Sum of Ten hundred thousand Pounds, for enabling his Majesty to enter into an actual War against the French King.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Sir Edw. Deering took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Sir Edw. Deering reports from the said Committee, That they had taken the same into their Consideration; and had agreed upon Three Votes, to be reported to the House: Which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: And the same are as followeth; viz.

Resolved, &c. That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That towards the Ten hundred thousand Pounds to be raised for his Majesty's Supply, a particular Charge shall be laid upon all Buildings, which since the Year One thousand Six hundred and Fifty-six have been erected upon new Foundations without the City of London, and within the weekly Bills of Mortality.

Resolved, &c. That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That that Charge shall be One Half-year's Rent of the full yearly Value.

Resolved, &c. That the House be moved to appoint a Committee, to take such Surveys and Estimates as shall be brought to them, in order to ascertaining the Value.

And humbly moved from the said Committee, That they may have Leave to sit again To-morrow.

The First of the said Votes, being read, was, upon the Question, agreed to.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree with the Committee, That towards the Ten hundred thousand Pounds, to be raised for his Majesty's Supply, a particular Charge shall be laid upon all Buildings, which since the Year One thousand Six hundred and Fifty-six have been erected upon new Foundations without the City of London, and within the weekly Bills of Mortality.

The Second of the said Votes being read;

A Motion being made, for leaving out the Words "Year's Rent;"

The Question being put, To agree with the Committee in the said Vote so amended;

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

Resolved, &c. That That Charge shall be One-half of the full yearly Value.

Resolved, &c. That a Committee be appointed to take such Surveys and Estimates as shall be brought to them, in order to ascertaining the Half of the full yearly Value of the said Houses: And they are to consider of the Numbers of them; and of the Values thereof; and of an Estimate of One-half of the full yearly Value; and report the same, with their Opinions therein, to the House.

And it is referred to Col. Birch, Sir Ch. Harbord, Sir Jos. Tridenham, Lord O Brien, Mr. Palmes, Sir Ric. Wiseman, Mr. Papillon, Sir Tho. Lee, Sir Tho. Clergis, Sir Eliab Harvey, Sir Anth. Irby, Mr. Neale, Mr. Crowch, Sir Courtncy Poole, Sir John Heath, Sir Tho. Mompesson, Sir Tho. Meeres, Mr. Spry, Mr. Secretary Williamson, Sir Hen. Capell, Lord Cavendish, Mr. Love, Sir Ric. Temple, Sir John Birkenhead, Mr. Garraway, Sir John Elwes, Sir Rob. Carr, Mr. Chancellor of Exchequer, Sir Wm. Hickman, Mr. May, Sir Tho. Littleton: And they are to meet To-morrow, at Two of the Clock in the Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber: And they are impowered to send for Persons, Papers, and Records.

Resolved, &c. That this House will, To-morrow Morning, at Ten of the Clock, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to proceed further in the Consideration of the Manner of raising the Sum of Ten hundred thousand Pounds, for enabling his Majesty to enter into an actual War against the French King.

Ordered, That all Committees that were to sit this Afternoon, be adjourned.

And then the House adjourned till To morrow Morning, Eight of the Clock.
