THE House being met, in order to the solemnizing of this Day at St. Margaret's, Westminster, adjourned till Two of the Clock in the Afternoon.

THE House being met, according to Order;

Dr. Spratt thanked.

Ordered, That the Thanks of this House be returned to Dr. Spratt, for his Sermon this Day preached before this House at St. Margaret's, Westminster: And that he be desired to print his Sermon: And Sir Edmund Jennings, Sir Charles Wheeler, and Mr. Robert Wright, are to give him the Thanks of the House; and desire him to print his Sermon.

Interment of Charles I.

The House then resolved into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of the manner of a more decent and solemn Interment of his late sacred Majesty King Charles the First, of ever blessed Memory.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Sir Phillip Warwick took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Sir Phillip Warwick reports, That the Committee had sat; but had made no Progress, by reason they conceived they were streightened in the Penning of the Order; and prayed the Direction of the House: Whether the Committee might not consider of the Erecting as well of a Monument in Memory of his said late Sacred Majesty, as of the more decent and solemn Interrment of him; and of ascertaining a Sum of Money for defraying the Charge thereof.

Ordered, That the said Committee have Power to consider both of his late Majesty's Interment; and of a Monument for him; and of a Sum of Money for defraying the Charge thereof.

The House then resolved itself again into a Committee of the whole House.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Sir Phillip Warwick took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker left resumed the Chair.

Sir Phillip Warwick reports from the Committee, That they had agreed a Vote to be presented to the House: Which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: Where it was again read; and is as followeth; viz.

Resolved, &c. That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That Two Months Tax be given to his Majesty, according to the present Rate of the Monthly Taxes, for the Interment of his late Sacred Majesty, and for erect ing him a Monument; the First Month's Payment to commence from the Expiration of the present Monthly Taxes; and the Second, the Twelvemonth after.

Resolved, &c. Nem. contradicente, That this House doth agree with the Committee, That Two Months Tax be given to his Majesty, according to the present Rate of the Monthly Taxes, for the Interment of his late Sacred Majesty; and for erecting him a Monument: The First Month's Payment to commence from the Expiration of the present Monthly Taxes; and the Second, the Twelvemonth after.

Ordered, That a Bill be brought in, pursuant to the said Vote: And it is referred to Sir Charles Wheeler, Sir Thomas Meres, and Mr. Solicitor General, to bring in the Bill accordingly.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Eight of the Clock.
