A BILL for the Naturalization of Mrs. Anne Ferrers, and several other Persons, was this Day read the Second time.

Bash's Estate.

Sir John Brampston reports several Amendments to the Bill for settling several Lands, late of Sir Edward Bash Knight, upon Sir Ralph Bash Knight of the Bath, Heir of the said Sir Edward, and his Heirs: * * * * Which said Amendments being severally twice read;

Resolved, That this House doth agree with the said Committee, in the said several Amendments: And

Resolved, further, upon the Question, That the said Bill, with the said Amendments, be ingrossed.

And a Proviso, brought in to be added to the said Bill, for Peterhouse College in Cambridgeshire, read:

Resolved, That the same be laid aside.

Droytwich Parsonages.

A Bill for uniting the Parsonages of St. Andrewes and St. Mary Witton, in Droytwich in the County of Worcester, being ingrossed, was this Day read the Third time.

Resolved, That the said Bill should pass.

And the Question being put, Whether the Title of the said Bill should be, An Act for uniting the Parsonages of St. Andrewes, and St. Mary Witton, in Droytwich in the County of Worcester;

The same passed in the Affirmative, that this should be the Title of the said Bill.

Worcester Clothiers.

A Bill for the Confirmation of the Charter and Privileges of the Master, Wardens, and Commonalty of Weavers, Fullers, and Clothiers, in the City of Worcester, being ingrossed, was this Day read the Third time.

Resolved, That the said Bill should pass.

And the Question being put, Whether the Title of the said Bill should be, An Act for Confirmation of the Charter and Privileges of the Master, Wardens, and Commonalty of Weavers, Fullers, and Clothiers, in the City of Worcester;

The same passed in the Affirmative, that this should be the Title of the said Bill.

Orlibeare's Estate.

A Bill for reviving a Settlement of certain Lands on John Orlibeare for Life, the Remainder to the Sons of the said John successively, and the Heirs Males of their Bodies, &c. being ingrossed, was this Day read the Third time.

Resolved, That the said Bill should pass.

And the Question being put, Whether the Title of the said Bill should be, An Act for a Reviving a Settlement of certain Lands of John Orlibeare, for Life, the Remainder to the Sons of the said John, successively, and the Heirs Males of their Bodies;

The same passed in the Affirmative, that this should be the Title of the said Bill.

Masters in Chancery.

A Bill for ascertaining and establishing the Fees of the Masters of the Chancery in Ordinary, being ingrossed, was this Day read the Third time.

Resolved, That the said Bill should pass.

And the Question being put, Whether the Title of the said Bill should be, An Act for ascertaining and establishing the Fees of the Masters of the Chancery in Ordinary;

The same passed in the Affirmative, that this should be the Title of the said Bill.

A Person reprimanded and discharged.

The Bailiff of Chippenham, being apprehended, and brought in, according to an Order of the Twentieth of June Instant, for his Miscarriages, in not giving due Notice for the Election at Chippenham in the County of Wilts; and denying the Poll; and for his insolent Carriage before the Committee of Privileges and Elections; was this Day brought to the Bar of this House; and, upon his Knees, humbly acknowledged his said Miscarriages; and begged the Pardon of this House.

Whereupon Mr. Speaker gave him a grave Reprehension: And

Resolved, upon the Question, That this House doth accept of the said Bailiff's humble Submission: And

Ordered, That he be discharged of his Imprisonment, paying his Fees.

Publick Revenue.

Ordered, That the Commissioners for the Revenue do make their Report unto this House on Monday next.

Corporations.

And then the House proceeded upon the Bill for wellgoverning of Corporations.

And a Proviso brought in by Mr. Churchill, one of the Members of this House, was read.

Ordered, That the same be laid aside.

And another Proviso, being tendered by Mr. Pryn, another Member of this House;

The Question was put, That the same should be read: And

Resolved, in the Negative.

And the Remainder of the Paragraph in the Amendments, which were formerly in Debate, and all the other Amendments reported, being twice read;

Resolved, That this House doth agree to the rest of the said Paragraph, and to all the other Amendments.

And the Question, as to the last Proviso in the said Bill, "That the said Act should not extend to the City of London," being put, that the said Proviso should stand;

It was resolved in the Negative.

And another Proviso being brought in, by Mr. Mountague, one of the Members of this House, to be added to the said Bill, for the Security of the Commissioners, who were to execute the Power therein;

The same was twice read: And

Resolved, upon the Question, that the Word "treble," should be inserted in the Blank in the said Proviso:

Which was done accordingly: And that the said Proviso, so amended, be added, and made Part of the said Bill.

Ordered, That no Member give in any Names to be Commissioners for the Execution of the Powers in the said Bill, but such as he shall subscribe unto.

Ordered, That the further Debate of this Bill be resumed on Monday Morning next.

Charge against Mr. Phillips.

This House being informed, that Mr. James Phillips, one of the Members of this House, did sit in the pretended High Court of Justice, at the sentencing to Death of Colonel John Gerrard;

One Colonel Hugh Butler, being called in; did testify the same at the Bar.

And the Evidence being, by Order of the House, reduced into Writing; he did, at the Bar, sign the same: Which followeth in these Words:

COLONEL Hugh Butler, of Scovington in Pembrookshire saith, That, upon the Day that Colonel John Gerrard was sentenced to Death, by the pretended High Court of Justice, which was about the Year 1654, he saw James Phillips, now a Member of this House, sitting covered upon the Bench, in the said pretended High Court of Justice, amongst other the pretended Judges, in Westminster Hall, at the same time that Lisle, the pretended President of the said pretended Court, gave Sentence of Death upon the said Colonel Gerrard; and that he saw him sitting there one Day before.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the Examination or the Matters charged upon Mr. James Phillips, one of the Members of this House, for sitting, and sentencing to Death Colonel John Gerrard, in the pretended High Court of Justice, be committed to Sir Hugh Windham, Mr. Churchill, Sir Tho. Meres, Sir Robert Brook, Mr. Shaw, Sir Tho. Fanshaw, Mr. Clifford, Sir Geo. Ryve, Sir Tho. Woodcook, Lord Ancram, Sir Jo. Brampston, Mr. Whorwood, Mr. Stanley, Mr. Morris, Mr. Attorney of the Duchy, Sir Edm. Pooley, Serjeant Charleton, Mr. Strickland, Sir Edm. Bowyer, Mr. Goodrick, Mr. Lowther, Colonel Fretchvill, Mr. Pryn, Sir Rich. Everard, Sir Hugh Windham, Sir Jo. Covet, Mr. Griffin, Sir Robert Atkins, Sir Wm. Tirringham: And they are to meet in the Speaker's Chamber, at Two of the Clock this Afternoon: And to send for Persons, Papers, and Records: And to consider whether any other Members of this House be guilty of the like Offence.

Resolved, That the said Mr. James Phillips be suspended from sitting in this House, until the said Committee have made their Report, and this House hath given their Judgment thereupon.

And Mr. Arthur Owen, one of the Members of this House, undertaking for the Appearance of the said Mr. James Phillips as this House shall Order; This House accepted of the Undertaking of the said Mr. Owen therein.

Ordered, That Mr. How, Mr. Earnly, Mr. Sherard, and Sir Richard Everard, be added to the Marquess of Winchester's Committee.
