PRAYERS.

Parliament Guard.

ORDERED, That the Lord General be desired and required, from time to time, to send a sufficient Guard to guard this House.

The Lord Grey, and Sir Henry Mildmay, are appointed to attend the General, and acquaint him herewith.

Navy.

The humble Petition of divers Merchants, Owners of Ships, and Mariners, was this Day read.

Mr. Miles Corbett reports, from the Committee of the Navy, the Defects of the Navy, in want of Provision of Victuals; and the Defects of their Provisions, and want of Monies to pay the Seamen.

Resolved, &c. That a Second Rank Ship be provided, and made ready, to be used for the Service of the Parliament, for this Winter's Guard, as the Parliament shall appoint.

Resolved, &c. That Two Months Gratuity, formerly promised to the Mariners that were employed for the Reducing of the revolted Ships, be paid unto them as they shall come in: And the Committee of the Navy is hereby ordered to make Payment thereof accordingly.

Resolved, &c. That such Persons, to the Number of Thirty, who served as Masters, and Masters Mates, that went upon the Expedition for reducing the revolted Ships, be paid their Pay as Masters, and Masters Mates, in the Condition and Quality they formerly served in.

Navy Supply.

Ordered, That the Committee of the Navy do confer with the General, That the Sum of Twenty-eight thousand Pounds, which was received by the Soldiers out of Weavers Hall, and is to be repaid by the City, out of the Arrears due by the City to the Army, when the same shall be paid in by the City, do go and be employed for the present Supply of the Navy: And that the said Twenty-eight thousand Pounds be reimbursed, and be repaid, to the Treasurers at Weavers Hall, within Three Months, out of the Customs.

Answer from Lords.

Mr. Dove, brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to the several Particulars, by him carried to the Lords Yesterday for their Concurrence.

An Ordinance * * * * .

Obnoxious Publication.

Mr. Lisle, Mr. Hill, Mr. Fry, Mr. Scott, Mr. * Corbet, Lord Mounson, Colonel Moore, Mr. Garland, Mr. Love, Mr. Whittacre, Mr. Holland, Mr. H. Smyth, Colonel Downes, Colonel Purefoy, Sir Gregory Norton, Mr. Cawley, Sir Henry Mildmay, or any Three of them, are to meet this Afternoon, in the Court of Wards; and are to inquire, who printed, contrived, or published, the scandalous Paper, intituled, A solemn Protestation of the imprisoned and secluded Members of the Commons House, against the horrid Force and Violence of the Officers and Soldiers of the Army, on Wednesday and Thursday last, being the Sixth and Seventh Days of December 1648; and to find out the said Persons: With Power to send for Persons, Papers, Witnesses; and to examine as well Members of this House, as others.

Navy Supply.

Ordered, That the Committee of the Navy do confer with Mr. Pennoyer, Colonel Willoughby, Mr. Moyer, Alderman Fowke, Sir William Barkley, and Maurice Thompson, and such other Persons as they shall think fit, for the present Supply of the Navy with Money, or of any other Matter, for carrying on the Business of the Navy, as they shall think fit; and report the same to the House forthwith.

Droitwich Petition.

Ordered, That the Petition of divers of the Burgesses of the Town of Droitwich be referred to the Committee of Privileges: Who are forthwith to sit, to examine the Matter; and forthwith report the same to the House.

Election of Lord Mayor.

An Ordinance touching the Election of the Lord Mayor, . . . . . . Aldermens Deputies, and Common Councilmen, within the City of London, was this Day read the First and Second time: and, upon the Question, committed unto Alderman Wilson, Colonel Ven, Mr. Miles Corbett, Mr. Lisle, Mr. Scott, Mr. Heveningham, and the Citizens and Burgesses of London; or any Five of them: Who are to meet this Afternoon, in the Queen's Court; and bring it in To-morrow Morning.

King's Servants, &c.

Ordered, That the Letter, of 12 Decembris 1648, written to Sir Henry Mildmay from Hurst Custle, be referred to the Committee of the Revenue: Who are to meet this Afternoon; and consider, What is fit to be done in the Point of Charge and Servants to attend the King; and also of the Point of Safety; and to report the same to the House.

Ordered, That Sir Gregory Norton, Mr. Lisle, Sir John Danvers, Mr. Edwards, and Mr. Scott, be added to the Committee of the Revenue, as to this Purpose.

Ordered, That it be referred to the General, to consider, What Course is fit to be taken, for Payment of the Two Troops in Hurst Castle.

Answer from Lords.

Colonel Purefoy brings Answer, that the Lords do agree to the Ordinance against the Paper, intituled, A solemn Protestation of the imprisoned and secluded Members of the Commons House, against the horrid Force and Violence of the Officers and Soldiers of the Army, on Wednesday and Thursday last, being the Sixth and Seventh Days of December 1648; and to the Order touching the Sheriff of Darbishire.
