Prayers.

Earl of Downe's Estate.

AN Act for the Enabling of Thomas Earl of Downe for Sale of some of his Manors and Lands, to the Value of Five hundred Pounds per Annum, for Payment of his Fine and Debts, was this Day read the Third time; and, upon the Question, passed.

Ordered, That the Sum of Four thousand Pounds, Remainder of the Fine of Thomas Earl of Downe, be paid to the Use of the Commonwealth within One Month now next ensuing.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Oldesworth have Liberty to go into the Country for a Fortnight.

Admiral of the Fleet.

An Act for authorizing Colonel Popham, Colonel Blake, and Colonel Deane, Admiral and General of the Fleet, was this Day read the First and Second time.

And, after Amendments at the Table, the Question being put, That the Bill be Committed;

It passed with the Negative.

And the Question being put, That this Act be ingrossed;

It passed with the Negative.

And the said Act, being put to the Question, passed: And it is ordered to be printed and published.

Embassy to Holland.

Resolved, That it be referred to the Council of State, who are hereby authorized and impowered, from time to time, to give Instructions to the Ambassadors sent from the Parliament to the United Provinces, as they shall think sit, for the Good of the Publick, in pursuance of the general Instructions already given to the said Ambassadors from the Parliament.

Impresting Seamen.

An Act for impresting Seamen was this Day read the First and Second time.

And the Question being put, That the said Act be Committed;

It passed with the Negative.

And the Question being put, That this Act beingrossed;

It passed with the Negative.

And the said Act, being put to the Question, passed: And

It is Ordered, That the said Act be forthwith printed and published.

Mersey Island.

Sir Henry Mildmay reports from the Council of State,

"That it be reported to the Parliament, as the Opinion of this Council, That the Twenty-four Foot, heretofore added to Mersey Island, may be put upon the Establishment, and paid as the other Forces of the Army are: And that there be added One Shilling and Four-pence per diem to the Pay of the Governor of the Island, to make him Captain's Pay; he having at present but Six Shillings and Eight-pence per diem: And that One Shilling per diem be added to the Pay of the Lieutenant, to make his Pay Four Shillings per diem."

Resolved, That the Four-and-Twenty Foot, heretofore added to Mersey Island, be put upon the Establishment of the Army, and paid as the other Forces of the Army are: And that there be added One Shilling and Four-pence per diem to the Pay of the Governor of the Island, to make him Captain's Pay; he having at present but Six Shillings and Eight-pence per diem: And that One Shilling per diem be added to the Pay of the Lieutenant, to make his Pay Four Shillings per diem. And

It is Ordered, That the Committee of the Army do give Warrant for Payment to them accordingly.

The House, according to former Order, adjourned itself to Tuesday Morning next, Eight of Clock.
