PRAYERS.

Lady Manner's Petition.

THE humble Petition of Dame Margaret Manners, desiring Leave to travel beyond Sea, was this Day read; and it was resolved negatively.

Ricaut's Debts, &c.

Ordered, That Mr. Trenchard and Mr. Spurstoe do forthwith repair to the East India Company, to treat with them concerning the Debts, and the Adventure, of Sir Peter Ricauts.

Complaint againt Watkins, &c.

The humble Petition of Captain Mich. Styles, and several other Merchants trading in the Port of London, complaining of Mr. Watkins, Searcher of London, and his Deputy, was this Day read; and ordered to be referred to the Consideration of the Committee for the Navy; to examine and inquire into the Complaints, and to admit the Complainants to their Proof: And to report the whole State of the Business, and Complaints against them, to the House: And Mr. Edw. Ashe is added to this Committee.

Gunmakers Petition.

The humble Petition of the Gunmakers of London, concerning Sea Coals they desired to be furnished with, to carry on their Trade, was this Day read: And it is ordered to be referred, and recommended, in regard of the Necessity there is, that That Trade should be encouraged, and carried on.

Ricants' Sequestration.

Sir Christ. Yelverton is desired to go to Signior Amerigo, to take notice to him, from this House, of his good Expressions to the Parliament; and to acquaint him, that this House is informed, there is a Box of Sir Peter Ricauts in his Hands, in which is supposed to be some Specialties, and other Bills and Notes, belonging to the said Sir Peter; and to desire it may be delivered, for the Service of the Parliament.

Irish Affairs.

Sir Jo. Clotworthy is appointed to carry up to the Lords the Declaration and Propositions concerning Ireland; and to desire the Lords Concurrence therein: And to desire them to appoint a Committee, to join with a Committee of this House, to go into the City To-morrow, to encourage them in so good a Work as the subscribing to the reducing of Ireland. He is likewise to acquaint them, how freely this House has subscribed; and that it would be a great Encouragement to others, if their Lordships would take the same into Consideration.

The Covenant.

Ordered, That the Officers and Commanders chief of the several Castles, Forts, and Garisons, be required to take the Covenant themselves; and to take Order, that all the Inferior Officers, and other Soldiers, of their several and respective Castles, Forts and Garisons, do take the said Covenant.

Deputy Lieutenants of Kent.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth nominate and approve of Tho. Francklyn Esquire, to be one of the Deputy Lieutenants of the County of Kent; and that the Lords Concurrence be desired herein.

Transactions with Holland.

Mr. Pym is appointed to write a Letter to Mr. Strickland, to acquaint him, that both Houses will take the Matters informed into a serious and speedy Consideration; and to desire the States, that they will take no Resolution that may be prejudicial to the Parliament, till they have received their Answer.

Hertford Committees.

Resolved, &c. That Sir John Reade Baronet, Sir Wm. Litton Knight, Edw. Wingate Esquire, be added to the Committees of Sequestration, and the Committee of the Twentieth and the Fifth Part, for the County of Herts; and that they shall have as full Power and Authority, to all Intents and Purposes, as any the other Committees, named in any of those Ordinances, have, might, or ought to have, in the said County.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Intelligence with King's Quarters.

Sir Rob. Harley carried up to the Lords, for their Concurrence, the Ordinance for preventing all Intelligence between these Parts and the King's Quarters and Armies: The Ordinance for the settling of the Matter of Excise: * * * *

Sir Rob. Harley brings Answer, that the Lords will send Answer, by Messengers of their own, to the Ordinance for preventing Intelligences between these Places and the Court, and Armies and Forces raised by the King.

Transactions with Scotland.

A Letter to be sent from both Houses to the Lords of the Secret Council in Scotland, by Mr. John Corbett, was this Day read; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords, for their Concurrence, To-morrow Morning.

A Letter of Credence to Mr. Jo. Corbett, employed into Scotland from both Houses, was this Day read; and by Vote upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords, for their Concurrence, To-morrow Morning.

Instructions to John Corbett Esquire, sent into Scotland by the Authority of both Houses.

A Letter to be signed and sent from Mr. Speaker to the Lords of Secret Council in Scotland, concerning some Two hundred Soldiers, stayed and taken in a Ship, parted from Leeth at Midnight, as was confessed by the Master; and the Grounds of Suspicion, that those Soldiers embarqued in the Scottish Vessel for Dlep (as is pretended) were to be landed in some Parts of the English Coasts; were this Day read; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be signed by Mr. Speaker.

Preacher appointed.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Dr. Twist be desired to preach in the Abbey Church at Westminster, on the first Day the Assembly meets.

Committee of Accounts.

Resolved, upon the Question, That this House doth insist upon the Order for constituting the Committee of Accounts (on Monday the Fifth of June) with this Alteration, viz.

That whereas it is expressed in that Order, that Twelvepence in the Pound shall be allowed to such Persons, as the Committee for Accounts shall appoint to receive and bring in the Monies, upon the several Acts and Ordinances, for Satisfaction of all Charges and Expences; it is now Ordered, That such Allowance shall be made unto the said Persons, as the Committee for Accounts shall think fit.

Superstitious Pictures, &c.

An Ordinance for the pulling down all superstitious Pictures, &c. was read; and recommitted.

Exchange of Prisoners.

Ordered, That the Lord General be desired to exchange Captain Gerard for Captain Walton, and Colonel Lindsey for Mr. Francklyn, and Captain Bartie for Mr. George.

Ordered, That Mrs. Lindsey shall have a Pass to go to Oxford, about the Exchange of the said Prisoners.

Supply of Ireland.

Sir Gilb. Gerard, Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Pet. Pelham, Lord Wenman, Mr. Jo. Goodwyn, Mr. Jo. Browne, Mr. Ro. Goodwyn, Mr. Greene, Mr. Stapley, Sir Rob. Pye, Dr. Eden, Sir Tho. Pelham, Mr. Alex. Bence, Sir Jo. Ivelyn;

This Committee is to meet with the Committee of the Lords at Guildhall, To-morrow Morning at Ten a Clock; to further the Business concerning the present Supply of Ireland: And are ordered to give their Attendance accordingly.

Assessments in the Tower.

Ordered, That the Committee of the Tower do consider of laying the Assessments on the Miners and Wardours in the Tower; and to report what they think fit to be done herein.
