anciently] been paid in several offices, viz. at the

fit for the future to have paid in one place only.

appurtenances thereto and the piece of ground called
the Green before the same and along the west side
thereof and the ground above the said house known
as Garretts Orchard; all at the north-west corner
of New [or Richmond] Park in the parish of
Petersham and containing 15 acres bounded east by
the wood called the Thick Covert, under the mount
called King Henry's Mount, and south by the wood
or Grove called Berry Grove, fenced or intended to
be fenced by a brickwall to run from the south-west
corner of said Thick Covert westward in a straight
line to the park wall at the south-west corner of the
said Green and thence bounded west and north by
the park wall until it joins at the north-west corner
of said Thick Covert under the Mount: together
with the reversion thereof and all the Crown's right
and title thereto: to hold to them and their heirs

Royal warrant to the Clerk of the Signet for a
privy seal for payment by the Master of the
Great Wardrobe of a fee of 300l. per an. to Tho.
Townsend, as Clerk of the Great Wardrobe, as in
lieu and compensation of the fee of 6d. per £ formerly
payable to the Clerk of the Great Wardrobe for all
money paid to tradesmen and artificers for wares by
them delivered and work done in that Office and also
as in lieu of the yearly sum or sums amounting to
62l. 15s. 8d. per an. payable to him for a livery, fee and
other allowances; and likewise [as in lieu] of all fees for
debentures for liveries payable to the King's servants
in money "which [fees] as we are informed have
amounted to above 40l. per an. more": the like
salary as in lieu of said fees having been granted by
Charles II by patent of 1676, Mar. 31, which is
determined by the said King's death, but it being
the present King's express will and pleasure that
said poundage, livery, fees and other allowances
shall not be taken at any time hereafter, whereto said
Townsend has consented. Said salary is to be
payable quarterly during pleasure and what is due
thereon from 1684, Christmas, is hereby to be paid
forthwith. |

Nicholas Veele and the executors of Edward Hyde.
Said Veele was Receiver General in co. Gloucester
of the Royal Aid and Additional Supply and by
the state of his accompt as made up by Auditor
Parsons 1680, Dec. 20, appears indebted
3,679l. 4s. 3½d. thereon: out of which he craves
2,000l. paid by him or his deputy to Henry Killigrew
by virtue of a privy seal, which payment is attested
by the affidavit of John Cooke, gent., and John
Coggs, goldsmith; also 1,300l. for so much paid by
Henry Weare, gent., into the Exchequer upon a grant
made to him by Charles II of said Veele's lands;
also 100l. which said Veele has since paid into the
Exchequer by order of the late Treasury Lords to
satisfy an order assigned to one Mris. Goods:
which three sums amount to 3,400l. which the King
thinks it just and reasonable to allow him in his
accounts and it is so hereby ordered. This will leave
Veele indebted in 279l. 4s. 3½d. but it was intended
that on payment of said 1,300l. into the Exchequer
he should be discharged of the residue of his debt
"and Sir Robert Vyner, who had some demands
upon the said taxes or one of them did by a certificate
dated the 23rd Feb., 1685–6, declare that he had no
objection to the said Nicholas Veele's being so discharged." The said 279l. 4s. 3½d. is therefore hereby
pardoned and remitted in consideration of the above
and also in consideration of his extraordinary charges
in carriage of money to Oxford and Salisbury and
of his losses in that affair. And his and his suretees'
bonds for same are hereby to be delivered up. |

bond dated 1664, Aug. 11, bound in 1,000l. and
400l. respectively as suretees of Thomas Veele,
Receiver of Hearthmoney, co. Gloucester. Said
Thomas Veele remains indebted to the Crown
1,033l. 17s. 8d. thereon, as appears by the certificate
of Mar. 16 last from Bartholomew Fillingham,
Thomas Hall and William Lowndes, Agents for
bringing in the arrears of taxes. In consideration
of the good services of said Hyde and Nicholas Veele
and on the petition of Charles Middleton (who has
some estate which belonged to said Hyde, deceased)
and also in consideration that on said Nicholas
Veele's paying the abovesaid 1,300l. it was intended
that he should be discharged not only of his own
debt as above, but also of the present bond, he and
his lands etc. and the executors and estate etc. of
said Hyde are hereby discharged of said bond and
same is to be hereby delivered up on the request of
said Nicholas Veele or said Charles Middleton. |
