fitches of bacon and brought same to London and
was there seized under the Act of 20 Car. II
[c. 12]; the seizer being satisfied of petitioner's
innocence did not prosecute and the said master
absconded, but since [then] one Paul Tracy by the
assistance of the master and one White, an Irishman
of the Temple, have seized the ship and refuse to
deliver her and as it is the long vacation no writ
of delivery can be had without the Lord Treasurer's
order: prays such a writ upon [petitioner's]
security to answer the value of the vessel if she be
adjudged forfeit by law. |

London Excise before he take further proceedings
therein; in particular (1) has there been any such
legal and final determination therein as will prevent
fresh proceedings. (2) Was Treasurer Southampton's
reference to the Solicitor General as to discovering
the authors of the forgery of the counterpart sufficient authority for the Solicitor General's proceeding
to a judicial examination thereof. (3) Are the said
Farmers by the report thereon so absolved from
the guilt of said forgery as to enable them to plead
autrefois acquit. (4) If any defalcations allowed
them were surreptitiously obtained upon false
suggestions or accounts or upon forged covenants
contained in said counterpart does their discharge
under the great seal acquit them thereof. (5) If
not how can the King compel them to refund same.
(6) You are to fully consider the reasons offered in
the long state of the case why the additional 4d.
per gallon received by the said Farmers under the
Retrospect [clause of the] Act of 22 Car. II [c. 3]
ought to be by them accounted for and paid to the
present King as not being intentionally included in
the said Farmers' original grant. |

petitioner has always employed substantial clerklike men to wait at the Treasury door to execute
such orders as came from the table, yet during her
widowhood some interlopers have invaded the

forbid any one intermeddling with the messenger's

Windsor Castle, Aug. 31, to the Customs Cashier,
enclosing the paper of the disposition of the Customs
cash for the week ended the 25th inst., said paper
including the above item of 400l. [payable out of
the Exchequer] together with the following items
[payable direct out of the Customs Office on tallies]
viz.: 2,123l. 19s. 9d. to complete the quarter bill
of the Customs [salaries, London port]; 1,000l. to
Mr. Hewer in repayment of loan; 150l. to the Duke
of Albemarle for the rent of Mote Park. Total
disposition of the Customs, 3,673l. 19s. 9d.) (Same
to the Commissioners of Excise and Hearthmoney
enclosing the similar paper of the disposition of the
Excise and Hearthmoney for same week: said
paper including for the Excise the above five Excise
items [payable out of the Exchequer] together with
the following items [payable direct out of the Excise
Office on tallies] 6,000l. to the Forces, paid already;
1,500l. to Mr. Kent and Mr. Duncombe in repayment of loan; 1,000l. to Mr. Toll for the like; 500l.
to Mr. Hornby for the like. Total disposition of the
Excise, 11,780l.; and for the Hearthmoney: 2,000l.
to Mr. Noell in repayment of loan on two tallies
"both in my [Guy's] hands".) |

Royal warrant to the Clerk of the Signet for a privy
seal for an annuity or yearly pension of 1,500l. to
Francis Gwynn, esq., in consideration of his good
services: to be paid quarterly as from Christmas
last, the payment for the half year to June 24 last
to be made forthwith. |

Same to the Chief Ranger of New Park, near Richmond,
to permit Sir John Jenner and his assigns [on
behalf of the inhabitants of Petersham, co. Surrey]
to take gravel not exceeding 1,000 loads within the
said park for repairing of the highways belonging
to the said town "as hath been heretofore used."

Same to the Clerk of the Signet for a privy seal for
the payment to Lieut. William Armstrong (out of
the Portugal portion of the Queen Dowager) of the
600l. due at Christmas last on his annuity or pension
of 200l. granted him by privy seal dated 1676,
Oct. 19, for good services which annuity has been
satisfied only to Christmas, 1681, and no further
payments can be made [without fresh privy seal]
on said grant by reason of the death of Charles II.
Further it is the King's intention to continue said
annuity and same is hereby to be paid quarterly as
it falls due. |
