Indenture being a feoffment by Roger Edelyne of Hengleye to Thomas son of William de Merchstone of Ilmyndone of a messuage in Hengleye between the road through the middle of the town to the land of the said Thomas, by the rent, after the first six years, of 4s. silver; the said Roger doing repairs during the said six years but Thomas finding straw for the thatch. Indenture of demise, Michaelmas 10 Edward II, by Robert son of Felicia de Priors Herdewyk to John son of Thomas of the same, for twenty years, of 2 a. arable in the fields of Priors Herdewyk, viz. one acre in the south field on Dunstall next land of Ralph son of Felicia and the other acre in the north field on Sicheforlong next land of William le Maisters, by the rent of a rose at midsummer. Feoffment by Helen Wryth of Yelvertoft in her pure widowhood to William her son in tail with remainder in default to John her son, his heirs and assigns, of a messuage in Yelvertoft next the tenement of Symon Lorkyn, abutting on the highway, and 1 a. 1 rood arable with heads lying dispersed in the fields there. Feoffment by John Suttone of Bristowe, to William Wryzth of Yelvertoft, of a messuage in Yelvertoft, between the tenements of John Pydintton and the said William, 170 ft. long by 20 ft. wide; rent 4d. yearly during the life of the said John. Friday before St. Philip and St. James the Apostles, 1 Henry IV. Seal.

Indenture, being the memorandum of an agreement made on the feast of St. Michael the Archangel, 26 Edward III, between Roger Bretoun of the one part and Thomas Tobur of the other, viz. that whereas the said Roger and Katharine wife of the said Thomas held the manor of Brunham St. Clement in common for the term of their lives by the gift and feoffment of William Veutre, the said Roger had demised to the said Thomas the profits of his moiety from the feast above said for (blank) years; a new sollar to the north of the said manor and certain land and tenements in the field of Brunham Westgate which Nicholas Bretoun had for term of years by the demise of them the said Roger and Thomas excepted; the said Thomas rendering to the said Roger yearly 8l., doing the services due to the chief lords and paying the King's tallage; repairs to be done at their joint expense. [N'hamp.] A. 8216. Feoffment by Thomas son of John Robert of Yelvertoft to Simon Terry of 1½ a. 1 rood arable there, lying dispersed. Friday after the Translation of St. Thomas the Martyr, 4 Edward III.
[Hunt.] A. 8217. Memorandum of agreement between Robert de Durham (Dunhelmo) clerk, and the monks of Ramesey touching the tithes which Ivo the clerk of Wistow, his predecessor, held to farm of them, and Jocelin de Stiveclai before him, and concerning which he had vexed them, viz. he swore before the chapter of Huntendon to abandon his claim, they on the other hand were to pay him 10 marks yearly by the hand of their prior, whether they had an abbot or not, till such time as they conferred ecclesiastical benefices on him to the value of 30 marks which they were to do as soon as possible; when God gave them an abbot they were to get the arrangement confirmed by him. Release by William Eode [of] Buvigton to Henry, lord of Buvigton, of his right in a virgate of land and a messuage which Walter called Prodome formerly held of him in the town and territory of Buvigton; for this the said Henry had given him 12½ a. land of the said virgate, as contained in the said Henry's charter of feoffment. Bond by William Eode of Buvigton to Henry, lord of Buvigton, to acquit him and his heirs against Christian, wife of Walter Prodome of her dower, according to the quantity of land whereof the said Henry enfeoffed him if she survived her husband. Feoffment by Roger Schadewey of Holewelle and Isabel his wife to Sir Ailmer (Adomaro) de Valence of all that part of a croft in Bishops Hatfeld between land of Sir John de Gray on one side, and that part of the croft the said Sir Ailmer (Adomarus) de Valence had by the gift and feoffment of John . . . . . on the other. Feoffment by Henry le Campioun of Weleton to Simon Heyr of the same of his gate (portam) with his outer court and a certain portion of his court extending from the corner of the gable of his capital house to the said Henry's tenement, and in width from the said corner to William Martin's tenement. Friday after St. Ambrose, 10 Edward II. The above feoffment to be void on payment of 8s. on Sunday before St. Mark then next.

Feoffment by Ida late the wife of Ralph called le Chapman (dicti mercatoris) of Magna Dercet to John her son, of a messuage formerly Hugh le Taylour's in Dercet aforesaid which she had from her said son in exchange for a grange which came to her in dower after the death of the said Ralph. Witnesses:—Sir John de Knyttecot, rector of the church of Saxham, John Neel of Magna Dercet, Otuer' called le Chapman (dicta mercatore) of the same, Otuer' Bele of the same, Stephen Marshal (marescallo). Indenture of demise, the feast of the Purification, A.D. 1384, by Lawrence son of William de Wotton to Stephen son of Robert Caumbray, for his life, of a messuage with a cottage adjacent and 8 a. arable in Quenton, at 24s. rent and by doing the services due to the chief lord of the fee, 7s. of the said rent, to be paid beforehand every year of the next six years. Feoffment by Henry Walding of Lodbrok to Richard son of Geoffrey de Nunn'on of Rodburne of three half acres arable and one rood meadow in Rodburne fields viz: half an acre in Oldhole next lands of the prioress of Henewode, half an acre on Gosemereforlong with a head (capite) of meadow next land of the prior of Coventre &c. Indenture reciting that whereas controversy and discord had arisen between Eustace (Enstachium) de Borneby, lord of Watford on 'le Heth' of the one part and Edmund son of Edmund de Watford on the other, at length by the intervention of friends it was agreed between them that the said Edmund and his men and his heirs should freely and without hindrance have their hedge (hechium) in all their lands in fallow in the fields of Watford for ever because that was lawful to them by ancient use, and Eustace and his men to have the like. Indenture of demise by John son of Henry de Lodbrok knight (militis), to John le Ferur of Herbury and Joan his wife for their lives of a messuage with a house built there with a croft of arable adjacent, and 1½ a. land lying together at 'le Euedenest' in the town and fields of Herbury, viz: the messuage Henry Attestretusende held; rent 4s. and a heriot at death. Feoffment by Agnes late the wife of Hugh Unfrey of Welton in her pure widowhood to William Caldecote of the same, and Alice his wife of the third part of an acre of arable in Welton fields, which came to her in dower on the death of her said husband; rent 3d. during her life. Saturday, the feast of St. Mark, 6 Edward III.

Indenture of demise made at Mapelderwll on the feast of the Purification, 46 Henry III., by Richard de la Rugge to Sir Philip Bassat for twenty years of a moiety of his meadow of Larugmedes in the town of Retherwic, bounded by land of Henry de Bromsull, Henry Pinek's house and the stream (ripariam) called 'la Lude;' consideration, 10 marks paid beforehand; the said moiety shall one year be on the north, another on the south of the said meadow. Release by Thomas Avure of Laufare to Sir Hugh le Despenser of his right in a virgate of land which Lawrence le Mareschal of Laufare formerly held of the said Sir Hugh in the town of North Weld, and which the said Sir Hugh had granted and confirmed to him. London, the feast of St. Cuthbert the bishop, 28 Edward I.
[Warw.] A. 8233. Feoffment by Thomas de Sch[e]rburne to John Hauntejoye and Agnes his wife and his heirs of 5 sellions of arable lying together in the tillage called 'le Brodecroft' in the town of Hattone; consideration 10s. silver beforehand. Friday the feast of St Peter in Cathedra, 7 Edward II.
Leic. A. 8234. Indenture of demise by John son and heir of John Neel of Derset Magna to William le Clerk of Geydon and Joan his wife for their lives in survivorship, of a messuage and half virgate of land in Dunton, co. Leicester, which his said father had demised to them, together with Ralph Geffreys, who held it of his said father in bondage, and his issue, and 69s. 6d. rent from his tenants there; rent for 14 years then next, a grain of pepper, and thereafter 20l. a year; their executors to enjoy it if they died within the said term of 14 years. Acquittance by Thomas de Beauflour, citizen and vintner of London, to Henry de Braundeston son of the late Sir Hugh de Braundeston, knight, for 110 marks sterling, for which he had in pledge the said Henry's tenement at Billyngesgate in the city of London. Demise by Joan daughter and heir of Warin le Warde of Schreueley, in her widowhood, to Thomas Lovekyn of Shreueleye of all the arable land with the moiety of her meadow except 'le Dolemedewe,' which she had in the fields of Schreueleye by hereditary right after the decease of the said Warin her father; to hold from Michaelmas, 11 Edward II. for six years; the said Thomas during the said term to plough for fallow, relime and plough for sowing and to sow with his and her seed equally, for a moiety (ad medietatem) of the sheaves, and to find a moiety of the hoeing (sarclacionis) and reaping and she the other. Feoffment by Adam Mariot of Taneworth to Henry de Honesworth of a rood of land with a house in the territory of Taneworth, between the land of Robert de Cedenhale and the road from Beycford mill to Taneworth church and in width between the road from Robert Cedenhale's house to the wood of the sheriff of Warwick (versus boscum visicomyti Warwychie) and Lettice (Letissie) Dolfyn's land. Counterpart of demise by John Costyn of Hyntlesham to John Fynk of Stotton and John le Bont of Stotton, of the moiety of the profit of a mill in the town of Stotton called 'Stanforde Melne,' which mill he had to farm from Reginald le Paveli for two years the term beginning 20 May, 31 Edward [I]; and he has granted that the said John Fynk and John le Bont, fullers, shall have a moiety of the said mill during the said term with its appurtenances to wit with the pasture as he held it by the writing of the lord of the fee, they paying half expenses; the sureties of the said John Fynk and John le Bont are Roger Argent, Roger Wakelin, Roger . . . . and James Petit. Northampton, next the tenement of William Osbern of Asshebylegger and in a croft in Falclyve, in the said county, next John Tumour's croft abutting 'in to Fallamgrene' next the croft late John Fraunceys', and in a virgate of land in the fields of Braundeston and Falclyve adjacent to the said messuage, and also in five acres of land in the said fields; all which the said Nicholas, Henry and Thomas had by the gift and feoffment of his said father.
