[Linc.] A. 8101. Feoffment by Simon de Canwyk of Lincoln to William de Aultham of Canwyk of a messuage in Canwyk between land of the prior and convent of St. Katharine without Lincoln, and of the abbot and convent of Swynesheved and the high street (regiam stratam). Sunday after St. Barnabas the Apostle, 28 Edward III.
Warw. A. 8102. Letters patent (French), undated, by John de Clynton, lord of Maxstoke, and Richard Fyton, knights, witnessing that they were present at the sealing and delivery by Sir John Buttetourt, knight, lord of Welegh, to Richard de Geytyndon or Geytyngton, parson of the church of Great Lynneford, co. Bucks, of his part of certain indentures (Latin, recited) made between them at London, 4 March, 45 Edward III, wherein it was recited and released as follows:—
(1) That the said Sir John by charter dated at Weolegh, Sunday after St. Bartholomew, 43 Edward III, had granted the said Richard, for services rendered, 100 marks to be received yearly during the term of his life from the manor of Bordeslegh next Birmyngham, co. Warwick;
(2) Which rent the said Richard, with the assent and by the direction of the said Sir John, assigned to his servant Henry de Witteleye, prior to taking an estate, with the king's licence, of the said manor of Bordeslegh with intent to reenfeoff the said Sir John of it with remainder to Hugh de Segrave and Isabel his wife and their heirs; as appeared by letters patent (French, recited) of the said Sir John, dated at Weolegh, Friday after the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, 44 Edward III, whereby, after reciting the above circumstances, he attorned to the said Henry by payment of 1d.
(3) The said Henry afterwards, by his charter dated at London the last day of February, 45 Edward III, granted the said rent to the said Richard, and the said Sir John attorned and put the said Richard in seisin by payment of 1d.
(4) By the indentures first above recited the said Richard released 20s. of the said rent to the said Sir John, and further made a general release to him in consideration of the due payment during his life of the 4l. residue of the said rent. Fragment of seal of arms (Clinton).

Memorandum of an agreement between John son of Simon of Great Creton and Edmund son of Edmund de Watford touching suit of the said John's court of Creton every three weeks by the said Edmund, whereof the said John alleged that the said Simon his father was seised by Roger Roys of Sprotton as mesne between the said Simon and Edmund and Emma, parents of the said Edmund; viz. that the said John released all his claim therein. Sunday the feast of St. Peter ad Vincula, 10 Edward II.

Indenture of demise by William Leyiard of Northampton and Joan his wife to Robert Spicer burgess of the same and Mabel his wife for their lives in survivorship of capital messuage with shops (shoppis) adjacent in Northampton late Richard de Stratford's, opposite the church- yard and church of All Saints between the tenement late Walter de Wolaston's on the east and Thomas de Welton's tenement on the west, and extending from the tenement of the said Thomas by a long chamber over the shops (per longam cameram super shoppas) late John le Megre's to the tenement late Robert de Scheuesby's on the south; rent, for the first eight years, a rose at Midsummer, with remainder in case of their decease within the said term to their executors for the full eight years, and after the said term, four marks; the tenant doing repairs; the said Joan was examined in full husting of Northampton as to her consent. Monday in Easter week, 32 Edward III. Feeoffment by Robert Saphir and Joan his wife and Robert Howde or Wde and Joan his wife of Sadigton to John Malore of Welton, of a messuage in Welton called 'Ace place' with curtilage &c. between the tenements of John Threcher and John Tuwe. N'hamp. A. 8110. Bond by Robert Safferey and Robert Howde of Sadyngton, co. Leic., to John Mallore of Welton in 100 marks payable at Welton, co. Northampton, on the feast of St. Peter ad Vincula then next, conditioned for levying a fine, in the names of themselves and their wives Joan and Joan, to the said John of all the lands and tenements, which formerly belonged to Thomas de Sadyngton otherwise called Thomas Ace, in Welton. Monday before the feast of the Translation of St. Thomas the Martyr, 20 Richard II beginning.

Feoffment by William Caperun son of Simon Caperun of Schotellanger to Robert de Bosenho in Schotelhanger and Iseult (Isolde) his wife and the heirs of their bodies, for their service and 16s. they gave him beforehand of 3 roods land in Schotellanger field, by the rent of a rose at Midsummer if demanded. Release by John Faukenir in Aldrinton and Joan his wife to John de Bosenho in Schutelhanger of their right in a parcel of a messuage in Schutelhanger which was of the tenement of the late Hugh le Wyte situate next the tenement of the said John de Bosenho; with bond in 40s. in default. Indenture of demise by John son of Robert le Hoder of Coventry to Robert Oliver and Christian his wife for their lives in survivor- ship of a messuage in Coventry next a tenement of St. John's Hospital &c. free for six years in consideration of money paid beforehand, and by 40s. rent yearly during the rest of their lives; with remainder to their executors if they died within the said six years. Feoffment by Guy son of William Russel of Coventry to Sir John de Leyre and Sir Thomas de Merynton, chaplains, of three tene- ments in Coventry, described, and the reversion of 12s. rent held by Sir Robert Russell, chaplain, for the term of his life from another tenement there. Indenture of demise by the king, by William bishop of Winchester the chancellor, to William Symme, for seven years from the morrow of St. Michael in his 41st year, of the manor of La Gare with Sleyhulle marsh, and with crops and stock thereon, detailed; rent 90l. with right of distraint on all the said William's lands in Kent. Quenesburgh, 13 January, 41 Edward III. Memorandum endorsed of enrolment on the fine roll.

[Notts.] A. 8144. Indenture being the memorandum of an agreement between Thomas de Boltesham and Sir Seman de Stok, viz.: that the said Thomas should on the feast of St. Peter ad Vincula 14 Edward [I] next give up and deliver back to the said Sir Seman peaceful seisin of ten librates of land in the manor of Staunton on Seggeswold for life, which ten librates of land the said Seman de Stok gave to Nicholas his son and heir in frank marriage with Alice his, the said Thomas', daughter, and to the heirs of their bodies lawfully begotten; failing the said seisin, he should on that day be bound to the said Sir Seman in 100l. debt (nomine debiti); the said Sir Seman should nevertheless have and hold 6 marks 8 shillings rent, as the charter made to the said Nicholas and Alice his wife more fully witnessed. Witnesses:—Sir Peter de Raleya, John Mallore of Welton, Simon de Thorp, Simon de Thywe, Walter Benet, Walter de Harudon of Esseby. Indenture being a feoffment by William Ace of Weleton to Simon Ace of the same of two parts of a water mill &c. there, as fully as one Philip Ace was used to hold the same, with the reversion of the third part thereof expectant on the decease of Benedicta relict of his father Robert, if she died within twenty years of date; holding the said two parts freely, and rendering for the third part, after the death of the said Benedicta, if she died within the said twenty years, 12d. silver at Easter; and rendering yearly, after the first twenty years then next, 40s. sterling at Christmas for all service. Thursday the feast of St. Clement the Pope, 9 Edward II. Seal.

Feoffment by John Ace of Welton to John [son of the late Simon de] Tewe of the same and John son of the said John, the younger, of the reversion of two parts of a water-mill there which Simon Ace of the same held for term of years by the demise of William Ace his late father, in length from the court which Juliana late the wife of Philip Ace then held for the term of her life, to the highway, and in width from the court of William de Caldecote to a garden of the said John Ace called 'le Hurst'; also grant of the reversion of the third part of the said mill-expectant on the decease of Benedicta late the wife of Robert Ace, who held it in dower. Indenture of demise by John de Tewe of Welton, Thursday after the Close of Easter, 18 Edward II, for ten years and over up to the feast of St. Clement the Pope, to Simon Ace of the same, of two parts of a water mill there he acquired from John Ace and the reversion of a third thereof expectant on the decease of Benedicta late the wife of Robert Ace; rent 4s. silver, the said Simon being moreover bound to grind the malt of the said John without toll; the said John to have the preference if the said Simon wish to lease the premises to another during the said term.

Counterpart of demise by Philip Daylesbury and Agnes his wife to Richard Skot of Lapworth, Alice his wife and Helen their daughter for their lives of a messuage called 'Stake place,' two crofts and two selions of land in Lapworthe, rendering to them and their heirs 10d. and to Rose (Royse), lady of Codbarewe 2s. 8d. yearly, doing suit to the court of the said Philip, and giving a heriot when it happen, but should the said Alice and Helen predecease the said Richard no heriot to be paid. Counterpart indenture made Sunday after the Purification, 18 Edward II, being the memorandum of an agreement between John son of Nicholas of Carlisle (de Carliolo) of the one part, and Sir William, rector of the church of Quatte, Walter de Gatacre, Thomas son of Simon and Roger de Holgot of the other, viz. that the said John demised to them all that assart called 'le Woditon Rudyng' to be sown on champart (ad campi partem seminandum) and place of pasture adjacent; to hold the said assart and place of pasture from the said day and year to the end of a term of three years next following, under this form, viz. they should sow the said assart, weed, reap, bind, at their own expense, all the lands yearly to be sown which thentofore were wont to be sown, and the said John and his heirs should take a third part of whatever corn was growing thereon in the autumn; also they should pay him yearly 4s. for the said place of pasture at Michaelmas for all service; and they agreed that it should be lawful for him, in the third year of the term, to enter that part of the land of the said assart which they then were giving up to fallow (quam tunc dimittent pro warecto) to plough it (ad warectandum) at his pleasure, provided he did no injury to the corn then being on the said assart.
