Charities for the poor

The poor of Stretton were presumably eligible to benefit from charities established for Burton parish, and were specifically named in those of Mrs. Almond and Richard Steele. Three houses in Ellen Parker's almshouse in Burton were reserved for women from Stretton, her birthplace. (fn. 13)

Distributions were also made in the late 1780s from at least four benefactions made for Stretton alone, but the capital belonging to those charities was lost in the early 19th century. (fn. 14)
