Frontispiece: Rycote Park from the south-west, showing the lake created by Capability Brown, the present- day house (centre right), and (to its right amidst the trees) the 15th-century Rycote chapel. The Tudor mansion occupied the open ground immediately north-east of the present house, which incorporates former stables and offices.
