There is no record of any mill in Greenford. As early as 1339 there had been a mill on the Abbot of Westminster's property at Hanwell, (fn. 1) and this was probably used by Greenford as well. The mill gate that is mentioned in the court rolls of Greenford and Hanwell in 1646 (fn. 2) may have referred to Hanwell, or to the mills in Norwood, just south of Greenford. (fn. 3)
