XXVI.—No. 16 PITFIELD STREET.
General description and date of structure.
These premises consist of two storeys and attic over a shop. They contain an interesting deal staircase of the late 17th century similar in character to that in No. 37 (Plate 65). There is also a small cast-iron hob grate to the back room on the second floor.
This part of Pitfield Street was built on not later than 1687, (fn. 1) and this house, though altered externally, is, no doubt, substantially identical with the original premises.
Condition of repair.
Fair.
In the Council's collection is:
(fn. 2) Detail of staircase (measured drawing).
