A burial (approx. SP 091305) of an adult male, probably in a wooden coffin, was found in 1955; two Romano-British sherds were in the grave fill. (fn. 1) The ploughed out agger of the Roman road, Ryknild Street, is clearly visible on air photographs (fn. 2) at SP 14213058, continuing the straight section across Bourton Downs (see Bourtonon-the-Hill).
