To the worshipfull the justices of the peace of the county of Worcester at their
quarter sessions assembled the seventh day of October 1740

The humble peticion of Henry Crane of Bromsgrove in the county of Worcester

Sheweth

That your peticioner is a protestant dissenter and that a licence was granted by this court
at Easter sessions 1739 allowing and appointing your peticioner's dwelling house
in the town of Bromsgrove aforesaid to be a place of religious worship for
protestant dissenters but in regard a messuage in the town of Bromsgrove
aforesaid standing at the corner of Ednell [illegible] Lane there and late in the possession
of John Freeman and John Williams and now of Master Joshua Dowler is far more
convenient for a place of religious worship than your peticioner's said dwelling
house therefore your peticioner on the behalf of himself and the rest of the protestant
dissenters there humbly desire your worships that you will be pleased to grant
a lycence for allowing and appointing the said messuage in the possession of the
said Master Joshua Dowler to be a place of religious worship and that the same may
be registred at this present sessions.

And your peticioner shall ever pray etc.

To the [worshipful Richard?] Cookesey esquire one of his majestys justices of the peace
of and for the county of Worcester

The petition of John Blick late of the parish of Kingsnorton in the said county
husbandman

Humbly sheweth
that your petitioner on the first day of January in the year of our
Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty two was and still is actually a prisoner in the custody
of the goaler or keeper of the prison or goal of and for the said county of Worcester without his
consent or procurement and without any fraud or collusion whatsoever that your petitioner
is not detained for any debt due to the crown and is not indebted to any one person in any sum
exceeding five hundred pounds besides interests and costs that your petitioner has annexed
to this his humble petition a true copy of the schedule of his whole estate and the names of
his several debtors and the several sums of money from them respectively secured or owing
upon any specialty contract or other account whatsoever and the names and places of abode
of the several persons from whom such debts are due and owing and of the witnesses who can
prove such debts and contracts which schedule your petitioner intends to subscribe deliver
and swear unto in open court at the first general or quarter sessions of the peace to be held
after the twenty fourth day of June one thousand seven hundred and forty three for the said
county at the Guild Hall in the city of Worcester whereby your petitioner humbly apprehend's
he is intituled to receive the benefit of an act of Parliament made in the sixteenth year of the
reigne of his present majesty King George the second for the relief of insolvent debtors
upon your petitioners [unforming?] himself in every other respect to the directions of the
said act.

Your petitioner therefore most humbly prays your worship that you will be pleased to grant unto
your petitioner a warrant under your hand and seale directed to the sherriff and also to the keeper
of the goal or prison of the said county requiring them to bring your petitioner before
the justices at the next general or quarter sessions of the peace to be held next at
the expiration of thirty days from the date of the said warrant for the said county
with the warrant or warrants of your said petitioners detainer together with a copy
or copies of the cause or causes which your petitioner was or is charged with in the goal
or prison as aforesaid on the first day of January in the year aforesaid and also your
notice in writting to your petitioner's creditors that your petitioner intends to
receive the benefit of the said act.

And your petitioner as in duty bound shall ever
pray etc.

To the worshipfull his majesty's justices of the peace for the
said county at the generall quarter sessions of the peace
holden for the said county the 19th day of April anno domini 1748.

The petition of William Olds of Chadgsley Corbet in the county of
Worcester chandler and grocer

Humbly sheweth
That [illegible] Friday the sixteenth day of October 1747 about three o'clock in
the morning a sudden and dreadfull fire broke out in the workhouse of
[illegible] the same together with his shop.

To the worshipfull the justices of the peace for the
county of Worcester at their general quarter ses
-sions of the peace holden in and for the said county
on Tuesday the fourth day of October in the year
of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty eight.

We whose names are under written being creditors of
Thomas Hawkes late of Dudley in the county of Worcester
threadman and sailcloth maker and now claiming the benefit
of an act of Parliament passed in the twenty first year
of the reign of his present majesty King George entitled
An Act for the Relief of Insolvent Debtors do hereby
apply to your worships to appoint Joseph Dixon of
Dudley in the county of Worcester clerk and Samuel
Holland of Wolverley gentleman or one of them to be assignee
or assignees of the estate and effects of the said Thomas
Hawkes in trust for themselves and us and all other
creditors of the said Thomas Hawkes

James Shaw of Dudley, a creditor of Samuel Johnson. Ref.110 BA1/1/353/16 (1748)

To the clerk of the peace for the county of Worcester

Whereas Samuel Johnson late of Dudley in the said county but
now a prisoner in the goal of the said county hath given his
creditors notice that he intends to take the benefit of the late act
of Parliament intituled An Act for Relief of Insolvent Debtors.

Wherefore I James Shaw of Dudley in the county of Worcester aforesaid
gentleman (being a creditor of the said Samuel Johnson) do hereby
apply for and direct and appoint that you make an assignment
of the estate and effects of the said Samuel Johnson contained in
a schedule subscribed and delivered by him or to be subscribed
and delivered by him at the next generall or quarter sessions
to be held for the said county to me the said James Shaw
in trust as well for my self as for the rest of the creditors of the
said Samuel Johnson pursuant to the said act given under
my hand the third day of October 1748.
