Nova Scotia.
Some reasons and proposals for settling Nova Scotia [fos. 134, 137], by Mr. Gambell, were read.
A letter from Colonel Armstrong, Lieutenant Governor of Nova
Scotia, dated at Canso, the 27th July, 1726, was read, and the
papers, therein referred to, were laid before the Board, viz:—
Articles of Peace, etc., signed by Major Mascarene and the
Indian delegates, at Boston, the 15th December, 1725.
Articles of Agreement between Mr. Doucet and the Indians,
made at Annapolis, the 4th of June, 1726.
A letter from Colonel Armstrong, dated the 24th December,
1726, was read; and the papers, therein referred to, were laid
before the Board, viz:—
The Governor's order to Lieutenant John Milledge, upon
a representation of the present state of the garrison, and
the officer's opinion on the same.
Second representation of the state of the works and magazine
of the garrison of Annapolis Royal.
Copies of surveys on provisions, of the gentlemen's memorial
and request to Governor Armstrong to undertake the
victualling, and of their protest against Messrs. Borland's
resurveying the same at Boston.
Captain John Blower's affidavit, taken the 19th December,
1726, in relation to Messrs. Borland's survey on provisions
at Boston.
Proceedings of all the gentlemen of the garrison, at a
convention held at Annapolis Royal, on Tuesday the 20th
December, 1726, with their observations on the survey of
provisions made here, being resurveyed at Boston, and
their opinion to Governor Armstrong on the same.
Ordered that an answer be prepared to the said letters.
Antigua.
Mr. Fane's report [fo. 101] upon An Act, passed at Antego the 20th September, 1726, for laying a duty of powder and money on all vessels trading to or from this Island, for the defence of the Island and the protection of the trade to and from the same, to commence on the expiration of the present Act, which lays a duty of one pound of pistol powder or 2s. in money on such vessel, was read; and the letter to Governor Hart, Governor of the Leeward Islands, directed to be prepared the 28th of April last, was agreed and ordered to be sent.
Trade.
A letter from Mr. Woolley, Secretary to the East India Company [fos. 93, 141], in answer to one writ him the 20th April, in relation to that Company's trade, was read; and their Lordships resolved to consider further thereof at another opportunity.

Nova Scotia.
Their Lordships took again into consideration the draught of a representation in relation to a civil government to be established in Nova Scotia [fos. 133, 138], mentioned in the Minutes of the 17th of the last month [fo. 120], and made a progress therein.
A letter from Colonel Philipps, Governor of Nova Scotia, in relation to the settling of that Province [fos. 137, 140], was read.

Nova Scotia.
Draught of Representation.
State of the Province.
The draught of a representation upon the state of Nova Scotia [fos. 137, 140], mentioned in the Minutes of the last meeting, was agreed and ordered to be transcribed.
Leeward Islands.
A letter from the Duke of Newcastle [fo. 140], dated the 2nd instant, signifying His Majesty's having appointed the Earl of Londonderry to be Governor of the Leeward Islands, in the room of Colonel Hart, and directing the draughts of a Commission and Instructions to be prepared for His Lordship, was read; whereupon ordered that they be prepared accordingly.
Plantations General.
A representation to the Lords of the Committee [fo. 132], inclosing the draughts of additional instructions to the several Governors in America, for restraining and punishing several vices, therein mentioned, in pursuance of an Order from the Committee of Council, mentioned in the Minutes of the 9th of the last month, was agreed and signed.
June 7. Present:—Earl of Westmoreland, Mr. Docminique, Mr. Pelham, Mr. Bladen, Mr. Ashe, Mr. Plummer.
Leeward Islands.
The draught of a Commission for appointing the Earl of Londonderry, Governor of the Leeward Islands [fo. 138], ordered yesterday to be prepared, was agreed, and a representation for enclosing the same to their Excellencies the Lords Justices, was agreed and signed.
Jamaica.
Ordered that the draught of a representation [fos. 132, 141] be prepared for enclosing the instructions prepared for Major General Hunter, Governor of Jamaica.
Nova Scotia.
The representation [fo. 138] in relation to the appointing a civil government in Nova Scotia, agreed yesterday, was signed.

Jamaica.
The representation, ordered yesterday to be prepared [fos. 140, 175], for inclosing the instructions for Major General Hunter, Governor of Jamaica, was agreed and signed.
Trade.
East India.
Ordered that the draught of a representation [fos. 136, 148] be prepared upon the Order in Council of 19th February, 1725–6, mentioned in the Minutes of the 26th of April, 1726 [Jour. C.C. fo. 125], referring back the Board's report of the 1st July, 1725, in relation to the East India trade.
Trade.
Ordered that a letter be writ to Mr. Barnard [fo. 160, Jour. C.C. fo. 334] to desire he will let the Board have his and the other Spanish merchants' sentiments, upon what may be proper to be offered at the approaching congress for the benefit of the British trade; as also their opinion upon the book of rates, mentioned in the Minutes of the 18th March, 1725–6 [C.C. fo. 64].
Rhode Island.
A letter from Mr. Kayl, Collector of the Customs at Rhode Island, dated the 10th of May, 1725, transmitting the copies of two additional Acts to the former Acts for making paper money, was read.
Newfoundland.
A letter from Colonel Gledhill [fo. 62], Lieutenant Governor of
Placentia in Newfoundland, dated the 3rd of October, 1725,
was read; and the papers, therein referred to, were laid before
the Board, viz:—
Thomas Salmon's conveyance of all his effects to his wife's
sister at Placentia in 1719.
Colonel Gledhill's answer to the petition of Mr. Salmon.

Letter from Captain Bowler.
A letter from Captain Bowler [fo. 105], Commodore of the Newfoundland convoy, dated 14th May, 1727, with answers to several heads of enquiry for the year 1726, and transmitting six bonds, entered into by six masters of New England fishing vessels in 1724, three bonds in 1725, and five in 1726, not to carry off any persons from Newfoundland, but such as Captain Bowler should permit, was read.
Massachusetts.
A letter from Mr. Dummer, Lieutenant Governor of the
Massachusets Bay, dated the 22nd August, 1726, was read; and
the papers, therein referred to, were laid before the Board,
viz:—

Letter from Mr. Dummer.
A letter from Mr. Dummer, dated the 12th April, 1727, was
read; and the papers, therewith transmitted, laid before the
Board, viz:—
Assembly of New Hampshire's refusal to joyn commissions
about the division line between that Province and the
Massachusetts, dated 1st December, 1726.
Answer.
Ordered that an answer be made to Mr. Dummer's said letters.
Letter to Mr. Willard.
Papers.
A letter from Mr. Willard, Secretary to the Massachusetts Bay,
dated the 21st of November, 1726, was read; and the papers,
therein referred to, were laid before the Board, viz:—

Minutes of the General Assembly, for the several sessions

New Hampshire.
Letter from Mr. Wentworth.
A letter from Mr. Wentworth, Lieutenant Governor of New
Hampshire, dated the 25th of September, 1726, was read; and
the papers, therein referred to, were laid before the Board, viz:—

Minutes of Council, from the 11th April, 1726, to the 30th of
June following.
An account of what powder has been expended in His
Majesty's Fort William, and what remains, from the 28th
May, 1724, to the 28th May, 1726.
Two Acts, passed in April, 1726.

Ordered that an answer be made to Mr. Wentworth's said letter.

New England.
Their Lordships taking again into consideration the Order in Council [fo. 150], dated the 9th, mentioned in the Minutes of the 30th August, 1726 [Jour. C.C. fo. 305], referring to the Board the petition of Mr. Newman, agent for New Hampshire, desiring that the boundaries between that Province and the Province of Maine in New England may be settled, gave directions for acquainting Mr. Dummer, agent for New England, and Mr. Newman, agent for New Hampshire, that the Board desire to speak with them thereupon on Wednesday morning next.
The representation, ordered yesterday to be prepared [fo. 141], in relation to the East India trade, was agreed and signed.
St. Christophers.
Their Lordships taking again into consideration the letter from the Duke of Newcastle [fo. 148], of 11th March, 1724–5, read the 23rd June, 1725 [Jour. B.6, fo. 185], inclosing a petition of Thomas Rowland, who claims certain lands in the late French part of St. Christophers; as also
A reference from Mr. Delafaye, dated the 19th August, 1725, read the 27th January, 1726-5 [Jour. C.C. fo. 14], upon the petition of Mr. Greathead, praying for a grant of some lands purchased by him in the late French part of St. Christophers; their Lordships gave directions for preparing the draught of a letter to His Grace the Duke of Newcastle thereupon.
June 13. Present:—Mr. Pelham, Mr. Bladen, Mr. Plummer.
St. Christophers.
The draught of a letter to the Duke of Newcastle [fos. 148, 151], directed at last meeting to be prepared, upon the petitions of Mr. Greathead and Mr. Rowland, was agreed and ordered to be transcribed.
June 14. Present:—Mr. Chetwynd, Mr. Pelham, Mr. Bladen, Mr. Plummer.
New England.
A letter from Mr. Dummer, agent for the Massachusetts Bay [fos. 147, 151], desiring to be excused from attending the Board this morning, as he had been desired, by reason of his indisposition, was read; and their Lordships ordered that Mr. Dummer should be acquainted with the substance of the Lieutenant Governor of the Massachusetts Bay's letter of the 12th April, 1727, mentioned in the Minutes of the 8th inst., in relation to the boundaries between that Province and New Hampshire, and that he be desired to inform the Board, what steps he has taken upon that head.
Mr. Newman, agent for New Hampshire, attending, as he had been desired [fos. 150, 160], their Lordships acquainted him that when they should receive Mr. Dummer's answer to the letter above mentioned, they would appoint him another day to attend.
St. Christophers.
The letter to the Duke of Newcastle [fo. 149], upon Mr. Greathead's and Mr. Rowland's petitions, desiring to be quieted in their possessions in the late French part of St. Christophers, agreed yesterday, was signed.
June 16. Present:—Mr. Chetwynd, Mr. Docminique, Mr. Pelham, Mr. Bladen, Mr. Plummer, Sir John Hobart.
Plantations General.
An Order in Council [fo. 153], dated the 15th inst., inclosing the draught of a proclamation with blanks for proclaiming the King in his Plantations in America, and directing the Board to prepare as many draughts properly filled up for the several and respective colonies, as shall be necessary for that purpose, was read; whereupon ordered that the draughts of the said proclamations be prepared accordingly, and a representation for laying the same before His Majesty.
June 17. Present:—Mr. Docminique, Mr. Pelham, Mr. Bladen, Mr. Plummer, Sir John Hobart.
Plantations General.
The draughts of proclamations [fos. 152, 163] for proclaiming the King in the several and respective Plantations in America, ordered yesterday to be prepared, were laid before the Board and approved, and a representation, ordered likewise yesterday to be prepared, for laying the said draughts before His Majesty, was agreed and signed.
June 19. Present:—Mr. Chetwynd, Mr. Docminique, Mr. Bladen, Mr. Plummer, Sir John Hobart.
Miscellanies.
Representation with a state of this office.
Mr. Chetwynd, acquainting the Board, that His Majesty had commanded him to lay before His Majesty a state of the establishment and business of this office, the same was immediately prepared, and a representation signed thereupon, which was delivered to Mr. Chetwynd, in order to be laid before His Majesty.
June 20. Present:—Mr. Docminique, Mr. Bladen, Mr. Plummer.
Barbadoes.
A letter from Mr. Worseley, Governor of Barbadoes, dated the
10th of November, 1726, was read; and the papers, therein
referred to, were laid before the Board, viz:—
List of negroes imported into this Island, from the 4th
March, 1707, to the 16th September, 1726.
List of negroes imported into this Island, from the 25th
March, 1708, to the 25th March, 1726, wherein is particularly distinguished those imported by the African
Company, and those imported by the separate traders.
A second letter from Mr. Worseley, dated the 18th April, 1727,
was read; and the papers, therein referred to, were laid before
the Board, viz:—
Copy of the proclamation issued by Mr. Worseley, the 6th
of April, 1727, relating to the ship Princess Amelia, from
the East Indies.
Petition of Captain Misener and Mr. Everest to Mr. Worseley
about the Princess Amelia.
Copy of the Captain and supercargo of the Princess Amelia,
their representation to Mr. Lascells—the Attorney
General's opinion thereupon—Mr. Lascells' memorial to the

Copy of a power of attorney from Messrs. Reynolds, Provost
Marshall General, of Barbadoes, to Mr. Lascells and
Mr. Harper, empowering them, in case of a vacancy, to
appoint deputy provost marshalls in that Island.
Copy of a power of attorney from Mr. Huggins to the Rev.
Mr. Gordon, Mr. Hope and Mr. Dundas, empowering them
to appoint deputy clerks remembrancers in the Exchequer
Court in Barbadoes, under the said Huggins, who is
patentee for the said place.
An attested copy of an Act, appointing agents for this Island
in Great Britain, passed 24th January, 1726–7.

A letter from Mr. Dummer [fos. 151, 161], agent for the Massachusets Bay, in answer to one write to him the 14th inst., in relation to the boundaries between that Province and New Hampshire, was read.

New England.
Ordered that Mr. Newman [fos. 160, 162], agent for New Hampshire, be acquainted with the Board's desire of speaking with him to-morrow morning, in relation to the boundaries between that Province and the Massachusetts Bay.
June 23. Present:—Mr. Docminique, Mr. Bladen, Mr. Plummer.
New England.
Mr. Newman, agent for New Hampshire, attending, as he had been desired [fos. 161, 165], their Lordships had some discourse with him in relation to the boundaries between that Province and the Massachusets Bay; and Mr. Newman, desiring that their Lordships would be pleased to give him liberty to inspect such books of this office, as relate to the boundaries between the said Provinces, their Lordships gave directions that he, and the agent for the Massachusetts Bay, might inspect the said books accordingly.
June 26. Present:—Mr. Docminique, Mr. Pelham, Mr. Bladen, Mr. Ashe, Mr. Plummer.
Plantations General.
An Order in Council [fos. 153, 164], dated the 24th inst., inclosing letters from the Lords of the Council to the several Governors in America, with orders for proclaiming His Majesty in the several Plantations, and directing this Board to take care for the speedy conveyance of the said letters by the two vessels appointed for that purpose, pursuant to a representation from this Board, dated the 17th inst., was read; and letters from the Board to the Governors of the several Plantations, inclosing the said orders and copies of the proclamations, were agreed and signed.
Whereupon ordered that a letter be writ to Mr. Burchet [fos. 163, 170], Secretary to the Admiralty, inclosing the same, in order to be forwarded by the said two vessels.
The said letters were as follows, viz:— To the Governors or Commanders in Chief at Jamaica, Barbadoes, the Leeward Islands, Bermuda, Bahamas, Virginia, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts Bay and New Hampshire, North and South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Newfoundland [fo. 234], and to the Governors and Companies of Rhode Island, Connecticut and Hudson's Bay [fo. 187].
The letter to Hudson's Bay was sent to Mr. Bird, Secretary to the Company.
June 28. Present:—Mr. Chetwynd, Mr. Docminique, Mr. Plummer, Sir John Hobart.
New Hampshire.
Letter from Mr. Wentworth.
A letter from Mr. Wentworth, Lieutenant Governor of New
Hampshire, dated 8th April, 1727, was read, as also
Mr. Waldo's petition.
Mr. Waldo's petition to him, with a copy of the Minute of
Council thereupon, dated the 3rd of April, 1727.
Enquire of Mr. Newman about boundaries.
Ordered that the Secretary do enquire of Mr. Newman [fos. 162, 169], agent for New Hampshire, whether he has received the papers relating to the boundaries between the Massachusetts Bay and New Hampshire, mentioned to be sent to him in Mr. Wentworth's aforesaid letter.
