Grant by Richard de Shevingdon, abbot of Ramsey, to William de Risceby, the elder, for his life, of the rent issuing from lands demised in fee farm by Hugh [de Sulgrave], abbot of Ramsey, and his convent to William Waleys and Joan his wife, in the fields and meadows of Great Gravenhirst. Grant by Ralph de Tyvill to Hugh, the abbot, and the convent of Ramsey, of a tenement with appurtenances in Gravenhurst, Eye, Suthlingdon, and Pekesden, and the tenement which Elena, relict of Hugh de Tyvill, uncle of Ralph, held in dower in the same places (except one acre of land farmed to Roger Wythbred before this agreement), for ten years or until the abbot and convent have received ten complete crops therefrom, stubble not being counted a crop. Obligation of Nicholas de la Penne, of Gravenhyrst, to pay the abbot of Ramsey the yearly rent of 8s. he owes for eight acres of land he holds of the fee of Robert Bryan in Gravenhyrst Parva, and to quitclaim all the land the abbot and convent have bought of Ralph de Tyvylle, of the fee of Robert Bryan, of all demands that could be made thereupon. Confirmation by William de Cantilupe to the chapel in his court of Eyton, of the grant made to it by his father, William de Cantilupe, of a messuage and 12 acres of land in Eyton, 6 measures of wheat yearly, and 22 solidates of annual rent; with a further grant of 50s. yearly, to support a second chaplain, and of a croft to keep a lamp burning in the chapel; with stipulations as to the appointment and support of the two chaplains. For this grant the canons have paid four silver marcs. Release by Ralph de Tyville to the church of the Blessed Mary and St. Benedict of Ramsey, and the abbot and convent there, of all his manor of Gravenhurst, with its appurtenances in Suthlingdon, Gravenhurst, Pekesden, and Meparteshale, on payment to him of 1d. [yearly] at Easter. For this grant the abbot and convent have paid him 250 marcs of silver. Witnesses:—Bartholomew le Juven', then sheriff of Bedford, Master Gilbert de Wepstede, then steward of Ramsey, William de Stowe, John de Sulegrave, John de Beames, Eustace de Caumvill, John de Bray, and Geoffrey Bolond. The position of the land is accurately defined. Witnesses:—Sir William le Moneye and Sir Berengar le Moyne, knights, Master Gilbert de Welpsted, then steward of Ramsey, Thomas de Grantcurth, Eustace de Caumville, William the Clerk (Cl'ico) of Pekesdene, John de Sulgrave, John de Benmeys, and William de Stowe. Confirmation by H[ugh], abbot of Ramsey, of the grant by Geoffrey the Cook (Coci), brother of Gervase de Hokes, of Cranfeld, to Thomas the Mason (Cementar'), of Wuburn, of the tenement in which Gervase de Hokes died seised in demesne as of fee, to be held of the abbot and his successors on payment of half a marc of silver yearly at the same three terms as the other tenants of the abbey in Cranfeld. Demise by Simon, the abbot, and the convent of Ramsey, to Sir William de Herle, knight, Robert de Sadyngton, and Master Robert de Burgh, rector of Houghton, of the manor of Schutlyngdon, with the hamlets of Pekesdene and Gravenhurst, the manors of Barton and Craunfeld, with the appurtenances, saving the advowsons of the churches of all the manors, at the yearly rent of 113l. 6s. 8d. for the manor of Shutlyngdon, for Barton 50l., and for Craunfeld 100l. of silver, with right of re-entry upon the premises in case of failure of payment. Grant by William Trussel, knight, of Cublesdon, to Edward King of England and France, of his lands and tenements of "Fobye Johan Hiremere and Wicchemere," assarted from the soil of the forest of Windsor and his possessions in Old Windsor, New Windsor, Wynkefeld, and Ascot, which are parcel of the castle and manor of Windsor, and which Oliver de Burdeux held by grant from Edward, father of the present King; also of the lands which the said Oliver had in Eton by Windsor, and which William de Stratton, knight, holds for the term of Oliver's life, after whose death they ought to remain to Trussel, but such remainder he transfers to the King. This is in exchange for the manor of Eton Hastyngs, co. Berks, and the advowson of the church of the same manor, which the King has granted Trussel by his charter.
