672. Grant by the convent of Holy Trinity to William the Goldsmith, brother of Godard, of certain land at Crepilgate which Swethmanus held; rent 4s. p.a. to hold in fee as long as the rent is paid; swore fealty; gersuma 2 bezants; witnesses, Geoffrey the priest, Algar the priest.

III who died 13 Ed. III as appears by an inquisition taken before Andrew Aubry, mayor, Roger de Depam, alderman, and Thomas de Maryns, chamberlain.

674. Inquisition taken Thurs. 26 July 1340 to enquire what lands and tenements etc. have descended to John son of Walter Borden, if he is of age, the value of the lands etc. by the oath of Peter at Corn(er), William de Hoo and others who say that John son of Walter has a tenement in the parish of St. Alphege within Cripelgate which Joan widow of John le Hore holds; worth 4 marks p.a.; on which John owes 12s. p.a. quit rent to the prioress of Haliwell and 4s. p.a. to Holy Trinity.

675. Note: the prior was attached to reply to William Borden in a plea of taking naam; William complained that the prior on Fri. 16 Jan. 1360 came to his free tenement in the ward of Crepilgate and took naam worth 6s. 8d. until by gage and pledge of John Chichestre, one of the sheriffs, etc.; the prior by his attorney, Alan de Horerwod, came and defended his action because the tenement was held of him at a rent of 4s. and 2s. was in arrears for half a year past and William could not deny this; the prior retained his naam; William Bordeyn in mercy. And afterwards John Bernes.

676. [1170–97] Grant of Stephen prior and convent to Warin the chaplain of land in Philipeslane where Geoffrey the Baker, Pascharius and Richard the Cordwainer (Corvesarius) formerly lived; rent 3s. p.a.; to hold as long as the grantee pays the rent; swore fealty; [f. 124] gersuma 2s.; witnesses, Geoffrey the chaplain, son of the aforesaid Warin, William the Baker.

[List of those paying rent]: Warin the priest (presbyter); Philip his nephew; then the land was divided for Geoffrey Curreour paid 18d. and Nicholas Cambrygge the other 18d.: after Geoffrey Correour; Gunilda his wife; Agnes Westmylle who granted the tenement to Geoffrey de Botham; Simon de Munden; Bartholomew de Castro, 5 Ed. II; William Elsyng, 6 Ed. III; the prior of Elsyngspitel: after Nicholas Cambrygge; Agnes his wife; Robert Derby; John Thorp who granted part of this land to Peter Knut who paid 12d. to Holy Trinity as appears in their charter (fn. 1) enrolled 17 Ed. II; afterwards the full sum of 3s. was paid by Matilda Munden, 19 Ed. II; William Elsyng, 6 Ed. III; the prior of Elsyngspitel.

678. [1170–97] Grant by Stephen prior and convent to Robert the Cook (cocus), whom Ralph Diuinus fostered (nutrivit), of that land which Geoffrey the Baker held in the parish of St. Alphege; rent 3s. p.a.; swore fealty; gersuma 15d.; witnesses, Walter the chaplain of St. Alphege, Benet de Hull.

[1170–97] Grant of Stephen prior and convent to Ralph de Wincestre of land built upon which, immediately before, Robert le Parux had in Philipplane; rent 4s. p.a.; to hold as long as the rent is paid without ill intent and fraud; swore fealty; gersuma 1 bezant and to the convent one London sextary of wine; witnesses, Geoffrey the chaplain of St. Alphege, Laurence the chaplain, his son.
