449. [1220–1] Grant by Simon son of Robert Blund to the church of Holy Trinity of 14s. 8d. of quit rent from land which Simon de Kokham held of the grantor in the parish of St. Martin of Beremaneschirch at the kitchens of the Vintry; to hold in free alms; 1 mark to be spent on pittances on the anniversary of Robert, the grantor's father and 16d. in wax for the lights (ad luminare in cereis) and the residue of the wax to be collected (et quod residuum fuerit de cereis in crastino dicti aniversarii ante altare domine super candelabrum collocetur percipiendum); sealed; witnesses, Henry (fn. 1) archbishop of Dublin, Serlo the mayor, Joce son of William, Richard Renger [sheriffs].

450. [List of those paying quit rent]: Simon de Kokham; Robert de Suthfolk; Robert Hardel; Thomas de Conductu who refused to pay whereupon Prior Eustace impleaded him in the Guildhall [See also after 451] when it was agreed as follows.
451. [f. 87] [1280–1] Release by Eustace prior and convent to Thomas de Conductu, vintner and citizen, his heirs and assigns of 5s. p.a. of quit rent and all arrears of the 10s. p.a. which the prior sought from Robert Hardel from land of the late Simon de Cokham between two lanes by Walebrok in the parish of St. Martin's by (versus) the Thames whereon there was a plea in Guildhall; Thomas and his heirs undertake to build on the land and to maintain buildings so that it will always yield sufficient to pay the annual rent; chirograph sealed; witnesses, Gregory de Rokesle, mayor, William de Frandon, Nicholas de Winchester (Wynton), sheriffs.

453. [1170–97] Grant by Stephen prior and convent to Nicholas son of Ranulf Dokett of half a stone house which was of Hugh de Roland (fn. 2) in the parish of St. John which David de Cornhull leased and granted to the house in free alms which gift Ralph brother of Joce the Vintner confirmed; rent 22s. p.a.; [f.87v] to hold without any 'causa' or miskenning; Nicholas swore fealty; gersuma 20s.; witnesses, Ralph, brother of Joce, Matthew Blund.

454. [List of those paying rent]: Nicholas Dokett; Mary Dokett; Peter Gesors; Richard de Wilihale who granted the tenement to Roger Drayton, as appears in a charter (fn. 3) enrolled 16 Ed. I; Margery Weluby, 1 Ed. II; Simon de Kinardisle, 16 Ed. II; [See also after 455] as appears by the following plea.
455. Common plea held in the Husting, Mon. 30 May 1323.
Simon de Kinardisle complained that on Wed. 23 Feb. 1323 the prior came to his free tenement and took naam worth 20s. until by gage and pledge of Roger de Ely, one of the sheriffs, etc.; and the prior came and defended his action because the tenement was held of him by a rent of 22s. p.a. of which Ralph de Caunterbury, prior, was seised by Roger de Thunderle, his tenant, and £14 11s. was in arrears; Simon said that he had no interest in the tenement except that his wife Margery had it for her life; Simon and Margaret [sic] did not prosecute; they and their pledge in mercy and the prior retains the naam.

456. [1170–97] Grant by Stephen prior and convent to Michael son of William Fulbert of that land which Ernaldus Furbur held in fee; rent 3s. 6d. p.a.; swore fealty; [f. 88] Michael gave 1 bezant to the prior and half a London sextary of wine to the canons; witnesses, Walter the priest, William Fulbert, William son of the same William [Brun].

458. Note: Thomas son of Jurdan granted to the lady Felicia widow of Joce Junior certain land in the same parish as appears by charter (fn. 5) and Felicia gave to Richard prior and convent 14s. p.a. of quit rent as appears by Charter Nine (fn. 6) of several parishes.
458a. [List of those paying quit rent]: Gilbert de Norfolk; Avice wife of Walter the Cordwainer; Walter Taillour; James le Boteler; Agnes his widow, 1 and 19 Ed. II and 1 Ed. III; now [1425–7] the New Hospital, and this tenement is situated on the south side of Candelwykstrete between the tenement of Holy Trinity on the east and of Walter the Glover (Gantorum) on the west.
459. Note: Adam Bedell granted to Holy Trinity some land in the same parish as appears in a book (?ocanta) with the letter 'A' at folio 21 according to which the prior and convent granted to Peter Bukerel [land] for 6d. p.a. as appears in an old rental with the letter 'B' and in all subsequent rentals.
460. [List of those paying rent]: Peter Bokerell; Osbert dean of the Arches who gave the land to the monks of Bermundeseye [See also after 462] as appears by the following charter.
461. [before 1249] Grant by Osbert, chaplain (capellanus) and rector of the church of St. Mary de Bothaghe, for the salvation of his soul, to the church of St. Saviour Bermundsey of half of the land with a house built on it which Walter Bokerel leased in fee; abutments, the land that was of Thomas the Tailor on the east and the other half of the land which the grantor gave to the hospital of St. John of Jerusalem on the west; to hold in free alms; grantees to do the services due to the lords of the fee viz, to Walter Buk(erel) and his heirs ¼ lb. of cumin or a silver ½d. and to William son of Reinner and his heirs 7d. [f. 88v] and to the canons of Holy Trinity 12s. p.a.; witnesses, Simon son of Mary, alderman, John Gouayr, Michael Corry, Walter son of Baldewun, Alexander Ferre, John Wodcok.
462. [1249–53] Grant by Humbert prior of the church of St. Saviour Bermondsey to Alexander Marescall of land and a house which Osbert the chaplain gave and bequeathed to the house in the parish of St. John Walbrok; abutments, the land that was of Thomas Gysors on the east and the house of St. John of Jerusalem on the west; rent 10s. p.a.; Alexander and his heirs to be responsible for the service of the lords of the fee viz. to the canons of Holy Trinity 6d. p.a.; gersuma 1 mark of silver; witnesses, Alexander le Ferru[n], alderman, John his son, Jordan le Coteler.
460 contd. Ralph Marchall; Robert de Multon, 20 Ed. I who granted the tenement to James le Boteler who paid to Holy Trinity 6d. and to the monks of Bermundeseye 10s. as appears in their charter (fn. 7) enrolled 32 Ed. I, which James bequeathed the tenement to the prior and convent of the hospital of St. Mary without Bisshypisgate as appears in his will (fn. 8) enrolled 19 Ed. II and the tenement is situated on the south side of Candelykstrete.
463. Total of this parish 38s. and it is tithed at this in the king's exemplification.

464. Note: the prioress and nuns of Stratford granted to Holy Trinity 22d. of quit rent which John the Parmenter was accustomed to pay from land in the parish of St. Stephen as appears in Charter Nineteen (fn. 9) of several parishes.
465. [List of those paying quit rent]: John the Parmenter; Robert de Clapwell, 5 and 6 Ed. III; his widow, 30 Ed. III; Robert Makesey, 38 Ed. III; John Sely, 8 Ric. II; Robert Markele and the tenement is situated on the west side of Walbrok.
