PRAYERS.

Members to be examined by Lords.

MR. Solicitor, Mr. Peard, Mr. Holborne, Mr. Corbett, Mr. Darley, and Mr. Owner, do attend upon Tuesday next, to be examined before the Lords.

Depositions.

Sir H. Mildmay is appointed to go to the Lords, to desire that the Committee for digesting the Depositions into a Form of Publication may meet with the Committee of this House.

Declaration.

The Committee for the Declaration has Power to sit, notwithstanding that the House sits.

Dover Petition.

Ordered, That, on Saturday next, at Two post meridiem, the Committee for the Dover Petition do meet in the Star-chamber.

Merchant Adventurers.

The Committee appointed to treat with the Merchant Adventurers has Power to withdraw upon that Service.

Person apprehended.

That the Lieutenant of the Tower shall have present Information given him of the Notice this House has received, of a Party apprehended at Ipswich, who is suspected to be Mr. Daniel Oneile, or his Servant Denis; and that he be required to send some thither for him, whosoever he be, to bring him in safe Custody.

Oneile's Escape.

Ordered, That the Report concerning the Escape of Mr. Daniel Oneile, be made To-morrow Morning.

Aqueduct Money.

Ordered, That this Note of the Monies of the Aqueduct be referred to the Committee concerning Money.

Archbp. of Canterbury.

Ordered, That the Committee concerning the Archbishop of Canterbury do meet To-morrow, at Two post meridiem, in the Court of Wards: And that Mr. Peard do deliver the Papers he has in his Hands, concerning that Business, into the Hands of that Committee: And the Committee is injoined to bring in that Charge on Monday Morning next.

Members concerned in Wine Project expelled.

Mr. Peard reports the Case of the Burgesses of Bristoll.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Mr. Long and Mr. Hooke are no Projectors in this Business of Wine.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Mr. Long and Mr. Hooke are Beneficiaries, within the Order of the House, in the Project of Wine.

Resolved, That Mr. Long and Mr. Hooke are not fit to sit any longer in the House as Members of Parliament.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Mr. Speaker shall send his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown in Chancery, for the Issuing of a Write for Electing of other Burgesses to serve for the Town of Bristoll, in the Stead of Mr. Long and Mr. Hooke, so disabled as aforesaid.

Message from the King.

Mr. Bellassis is appointed to go to the Lords to desire a Conference, by a Committee of both Houses, concerning a Letter received from the Committees at Yorke; and therein a Message from his Majesty.

A Letter from the Committees at York, of the Tenth of May, and a Message from his Majesty inclosed, was read; and ordered to be referred to the Committee appointed to prepare an Answer to his Majesty's last Messages, to make a speedy Answer to That and This.

Dyke's Offer to the State.

That Sir Wm. Armyn, and Sir Anth. Irby shall speak with Mr. Ludowic Dyke, Son to Sir Wm. Dyke; and acquaint him what Sense this House has of his Offer of a Ship, now ready at the Isle of Wight, to be employed in the Service of the Commonwealth; and to acquaint him, that the House hath already taken Order for such Ships as they think fit to be at this Time set forth; and to return him Thanks.

Pass for Patoun, &c.

Ordered, That Wm. Patoun, John Spence, and Robert Lands, Merchants in Edinburgh, shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant to transport themselves into France.

The like is Ordered for Mr. Anthony Leith, Scotts Gentleman.

Twisden's Bail.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Sir Roger Twisden shall have Leave to go to his House in Kent; and that his Bail shall be renewed; and a new Bond taken, with the Clause left out of his not going into Kent.

Andevor Return amended.

The Bailiff of Andevor, who had formerly returned Mr. Vernon to serve for Andevor, whose Election is since judged void, was, by Order, summoned to appear here: And did this Day appear here, with the Clerk of the Crown, to amend the Indenture of the Return: And did, at the Bar, amend it accordingly; and made it for Sir Wm. Waller.

Warrant to Morley.

Upon the humble Petition of Jane Morley, and Mary her Sister, it is Ordered, That they shall have a Warrant under Mr. Speaker's ... to transport themselves, and Three Children of the said Jane, into Holland.

Sir. W. Boteler, &c.

The humble Petition of Sir Wm. Boteler Knight, a Prisoner in the Fleete, upon Order of this House, was this Day read.

And the Question being put for his Bail;

It passed with the Negative.

Ordered, That the Charge against Mr. Lovelace and Sir Wm. Boteler, Prisoners in the Fleete and the Gatehouse, be brought in on Monday Morning next: And that Mr. Peard do take particular Care of these Charges.

Conference.

Mr. Bellassis brings Answer, that the Lords will give a present Meeting, in the Painted Chamber, as is desired.

Conference-Message from the King.

A Message from the Lords, by Mr. Page and Dr. Aylett;

The Lords desire a present Conference, by Committees of both Houses, in the Painted Chamber, presently, if it may stand with the Conveniency of this House, concerning a Message received from his Majesty, sent to that House from the Lord Howard of Esscrig.

Answer returned by the same Messengers: That this House has taken their Lordships Message into Consideration; and will give a present Meeting, as is desired.

Mr. Pym, Mr. Bellassis, Sir H. Vane, Mr. Glyn, are appointed Managers and Reporters of this Conference.

Mayor, &c. of Monmouth.

Ordered, That the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, of Monmouth, and the rest of that Town, sent up for as Delinquents, putting in good Security to the Serjeant, to deliver up the Magazine at Monmouth, according to former Orders of this House, shall be dismissed for this Time: And, when this House shall understand that they have actually performed the said Orders, that then they are forthwith discharged from any farther Contempt.

Conference.

Mr. Pym reports the Conference this Day had with the Lords:

That the Lords had received a Letter from the Lord Howard, to the same Effect of ours from our Committees: The which was read: That the Lords had likewise passed a Vote upon it: The which was likewise read: They received likewise a Message from his Majesty inclosed; which was the same with That sent from our Committees.

Persons acting in obedience to Parliament.

Resolved, upon the Question, That this House doth Declare, That they are resolved to maintain those Lords and Gentlemen in those Things they have done, and shall farther do, in Obedience of their Command, for the Preserving the Peace of the Kingdom.

Bristoll Contribution.

Mr. Solicitor likewise carried up the Order concerning the Disposal of the Monies collected at Bristoll, upon the Act of Contribution.

Message to Lords.

Ordered, That a Message be sent to the Lords, to desire that their Committee may meet with the Committee of this House, to prepare a speedy Answer to this Message of his Majesty's; and to perfect the Answer to his Majesty's last Messages; and to prepare a Letter of Thanks to the Committees at Yorke; and to let them know therein, that they will make their Case their own, and maintain them in what they shall do in Obedience of their Command; and that a Letter to the same Purpose be sent to the Committees at Hull; and the Votes agreed upon by the Lords and Commons inclosed; and to acquaint them with the Agreement of this House, in the Vote sent from their Lordships; and to desire that the Lords would forthwith issue their Commissions into all Parts of the Kingdom; and appoint a Day certain, when the Train Bands of the Counties adjacent may be exercised, according to the Ordinance of Parliament; and another Day for the Counties more remote; and that some Members may be sent into the several Counties, to see the Ordinance performed.

Preparing Answer to the King.

A Message from the Lords, by Mr. Page and Dr. Aylett;

The Lords have commanded us to let you know, that they agree to the Proposition made at the last Conference, of referring the Preparing an Answer to the Message this Day received from his Majesty, to the Committee appointed to prepare an Answer to his Majesty's last Messages.

Indemnity of Persons in the Service of Parliament.

Resolved, upon the Question, That this House doth Declare, That if any Person whatsoever, shall arrest or imprison the Persons of those Lords and Gentlemen, or any of them, or any other of the Members of either House of Parliament, that shall be employed in the Service of both Houses of Parliament; or shall offer Violence to them, or either of them, for doing any thing in pursuance of the Commands or Instructions of both Houses, shall be held Disturbers of the Proceedings of Parliament, and publick Enemies of the State: And that all Persons are bound, by their Protestation, to endeavour to bring them to condign Punishment.

Deputy Lieutenant.

Resolved, upon the Question, That this House doth approve of Sir Lodovic Dier to be Deputy Lieutenant for the County of Hunts.

Mr. Hampden went up to the Lords, to desire their Lordships to sit awhile.

Militia Indemnity.

There was a Vote conceived, for the Indemnity of such as had, or should, put the Ordinance concerning the Militia in Execution: Which was read; and ordered to be referred to Mr. Glyn, Mr. Hampden, Mr. Hollis, Sir Jo. Evelyn, Sir Wm. Lewis, Mr. Bond, Sir Wm. Litton, Sir Tho. Barrington, to peruse the said Vote; and to bring it in by Three of Clock.

Lords to sit.

Mr. Hampden brings Answer, That the Lords will sit this Afternoon at Three of Clock.

Militia, &c.

A Message from the Lords, by Mr. Page and Dr. Aylett;

The Lords have commanded us to deliver this Paper unto you; which contains in it a Form agreed upon in that House, for the Lord Lieutenants to make Captains in the several Counties.

This Form was read; and referred to the Committee appointed before, to peruse the Vote concerning the Indemnity of such as had put the Ordinance concerning the Militia, in Execution.

House to meet.

Ordered, That the House shall meet at Three of Clock.

Caryll's Petition.

THE humble Petition of John Caryll, of Warnham in the County of Sussex, Esquire, to have Liberty to stay about the Town, to follow his Suits in Law; was this Day read; and the Petition left to the Law.

Post-masters.

The humble Petition of John Castelton and Edward Hutchins, Two of his Majesty's Post-masters for London, in Behalf of themselves, and others their Fellows, the Postmasters in England, was this Day read: And,

It is Ordered, That this Petition be considered of To-morrow Morning.

Charge against Mr. Recorder.

Ordered, That the Charge against Mr. Recorder, be brought in To-morrow Morning.

Militia Indemnity.

Resolved, upon the Question, That this House doth Declare, That those of the City of London, and all other Persons that have obeyed the Ordinance for the Militia, and done any thing in Execution thereof, have done according to the Law of the Land; and in pursuance of what they were commanded by both Houses of Parliament; and for the Defence and Safety of the King, and Kingdom; and shall have the Assistance of both Houses of Parliament, against any that shall presume to question them for yielding their Obedience unto the said Commands, in this necessary and important Service: And that whosoever shall obey the said Ordinance, for the Time to come, shall receive the same Approbation and Assistance from both Houses of Parliament.

Resolved, That this shall be carried up to the Lords, for their Concurrence.

Message to Lords.

Mr. Holles carried up to the Lords this Vote; and the Vote passed in the Forenoon, concerning such as should arrest, or offer Violence to, any Member for doing any thing in Obedience to the Commands of both Houses; and the Message ordered, in the Forenoon, to be sent to the Lords; and the Form of a Deputation, to be granted to a Captain of a Foot Company, sent from the Lords, and assented unto by this House: And he was appointed to desire the Lords Concurrence herein.

Answer.

Mr. Holles brings Answer, That the Lords will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Warrant to Kingsmill.

Ordered, That Mr. Kingsmill shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant, to transport himself, and One Servant, into France.

Brenchley, &c. Lecturer.

Whereas the Parishioners of Brenchley and Cranebrooke have this Day petitioned this House, that one Mr. Edward Bright, an orthodox Minister, and in Orders, might be their Lecturer; as appears by the Petition from the Parishioners of Brenchley; and by Information from One of the Members of the House, who delivered the Petition from Cranbroke, It is thereupon Ordered, by the said House, That it shall be left to the Choice of the said Mr. Bright, to employ his Ministry in which of the Parishes he shall please: And the Parson of that Parish that he shall chuse, is hereby required to admit him to preach there, One Day weekly, without any Lett or Interruption.

Warrant to Weflye.

Ordered, That Mr. Harpham Weslye Gentleman shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant, to transport himself into France.

Tonage and Poundage.

Ordered, That the like Order shall be made, for the Issuing out of the Monies upon this Bill of Tonage and Poundage, as was made upon the last.

Seizure of Calve-skins.

Upon the Petition of Sir Tho. Dishington Knight, the House does Order, That the Court of Exchequer shall be acquainted with the Proceedings of this House in the Cause of the Seizure of the Calves Skins; and do refer it unto them to proceed for the King's Part, according to the Course of that Court in Causes of the like Nature.

Payment to Mansell.

Ordered, That Mr. John Mansell, Surveyor of the Fortifications at Portesmouth, shall have Threescore Pounds paid unto him, being Arrears due unto him for his Service in that Garrison, out of the Monies that shall come in from the County of Southampton, upon the Bill of Four hundred thousand Pounds, over and above the Monies ordered to be paid unto the Soldiers of the Garrison, out of the said Monies.

Payment to Ly. Lucas.

Ordered, That Mr. Wheeler shall pay the Sum of One hundred Thirty-seven Pounds to Sir Wm. Uvedale, to be paid to the Lady Ann Lucas, or her Assignees; it appearing by a Certificate from Sir Wm. Uvedale, that there remains so much due unto the said Sir Tho. Lucas, for his Arrears of his Half-pay as Colonel of a Regiment of Horse, and Captain of a Troop in the late Northern Expedition.

Deane's Debt to Knight.

Ordered, That Thomas Knight shall have Leave, for the future, to commence his Action at Law against Richard Deane, for a just Debt due unto the said Thomas Knight, from the said Deane, notwithstanding any Warrant from this House, whereby the said Deane is employed for the Apprehending of Priests.

Commission of Peace.

Ordered, That Sir Rob. Pye do move the Lord Keeper to put Mr. Lionel Fanshawe in the Commission of Peace for the County of Darby.

Reducing Irish Rebels.
