Confirmation of Decrees in the Exchequer and Dutchy Court, for Copyhold Lands, &c.

HODIE 3^a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for Confirmation of Decrees, hereafter to be made, in the Exchequer Chamber and Dutchy Court, concerning Customary or Copyhold Lands and Tenements.

Manufacture of Cogware, Kendals, Carptmeals, &c. encouraged in some Northern Counties.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the Encouragement of many Poor People, in Cumberland and Westmerland, and in the Towns and Parishes of Carptmeale, Haukstead, and Broughton, in the County of Lancaster, to continue their Trade of making Cogware, Kendals, Carptmeals, and Coarse Cottons.

Confirmation of Decrees in the Exchequer and Dutchy Court, for Copyhold Lands.

Upon this Second Reading of the said Bill, there was an Amendment added by the House in the Title and Body of the Bill, videlicet, in making the Word "Haukstead" "Haukshead." And thereupon the Bill, with the said Amendment, was read the Third Time, and forthwith sent to the Lower House, for their Consideration of the same, by Sir John Tindale and Dr. Amye, together with the Bill abovementioned, concerning Confirmation of Decrees, hereafter to be made, in the Exchequer Chamber, etc. and the Bill for Restitution of Geo. Brooke's Children.

Essex's Lands for Payment of his Debts.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the Sale of Part of the Lands of William Essex, of Lamborn, in the County of Berkes, Esquire, for the Payment of his Debts, and settling the Residue upon himself and his Posterity.

Confirmation of Jernegan's Lands to Hevenningham, &c.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the Confirmation of the Sale and Conveyance of divers Manors, Lordships, Liberties, and Hereditaments, late Henry Jernegan's, Esquire, made by Sir Thomas Hirne, Knight, Christopher Hirne, Gentleman, and Clement Hirne, Esquire, unto Sir John Hevenningham, Knight, and Dame Bridgett his Wife.

Tenures and Wardships.

The Lord Chancellor did this Day put their Lordships in Mind of the Message of late sent from the Lower House, whereby was signified their Intent to yield His Majesty humble Thanks, by their Speaker, for His Gracious Favour, in licensing them, with this House, to treat of the Matter of Tenures, and the Dependencies thereon; as Wards, etc. He wished their Lordships to consider, whether it were not fit that they also, for themselves, should, in like Sort, present their dutiful Thanks to His Majesty, for His Princely Favour in the said Matter, the same appertaining (as his Lordship conceived) equally to them.

Lord Chancellor to deliver the Thanks of this House to His Majesty, on account of Tenures and Wardships.

The Motion allowed, and thereupon Agreed, That, as the Lower House resolved to use their Speaker on their Behalf, so this House would use the Lord Chancellor as their Mouth; which Charge they urged his Lordship to take upon him, and he at the length yielded thereunto, though, for some respects (which he very modestly uttered), he was unwilling to undertake that Employment. He besought them, that he might have in writing that which he should deliver, or at the least certain general Capita, which should be the Scope of his Speech to His Majesty; which the Lords would not assent unto, but referred the same wholly to the said Lord Chancellor's Wisdom, who, understanding the Matter, was well able to dispose thereof.

Agreed further, That To-morrow in the Afternoon the Lords undernamed shall attend His Majesty, to understand His Pleasure when this House shall present unto His Highness their humble Thanks as aforesaid: videlicet,
