Prayers.

Duchy of Lancaster.

ORDERED, by the Parliament, That the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster do grant a Patent, under the County Palatine Seal, to Henry Wrigley Esquire, nominated and approved of to be Sheriff of Lancashire for the Year ensuing, to be Sheriff of the said County, accordingly.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for regulating the Laws, to consider what is fit to be done touching the Duchy of Lancaster; and report their Opinions therein to the Parliament.

Gift to Beck.

Ordered, That Five Pounds, out of the Money in the Box, be bestowed upon Nevill Beck: And that the Serjeant at Arms attending the Parliament do forthwith pay the same to the said Nevill Beck: And the Acquittance of the said Nevill Beck, testifying the Receipt thereof, shall be a sufficient Discharge in that Behalf.

Navy Contract.

The House, according to former Order, did this Day resume the Debate upon the Report from the Committee of the Navy, touching the Contract for Provisions for the Navy.

Articles of Agreement, indented, made, and concluded, the Nineteenth Day of November, Anno Domini 1650, between the Committee of the Navy and Customs appointed by Authority of Parliament, on the one Part; and Colonel Thomas Pride, Nathaniel Andrewes, Colonel Wm. Beale, Captain Thomas Alderne, Slingsby Bethell, John Upton, Henry Brandreth, Captain Nathanael Lacey, and Captain Richard Price, Citizens of London, on the other Part; were this Day read.

Ordered, That it be referred back to the Committee of the Navy, to proceed concerning this Contract upon the Debate now, but upon the former Rules; to make a final Contract with such Persons, and in such Manner, as may be best for the Service, Advantage, and Safety, of the Commonwealth, as they shall think fit: And that the Commissioners of the Navy do subscribe the Contract.

Law Proceedings in English.

An Act for turning the Books of the Law, and all Process and Proceedings in Courts of Justice, into the English Tongue, was this Day read the Third time; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be forthwith printed and published: And that the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal of England do issue forth a Certiorari to the Clerk of the Parliament, to transmit the said Act into the Chancery, to the end the same may be sent and dispersed into the several and respective Counties of this Commonwealth.

Publick Register.

Ordered, That the Act for registring Conveyances be read the Second time This-day-sevennight, the first Business; nothing to intervene.

Circuits.

Ordered, That the Lord Commissioner Whitelock do relate to the House the Proceedings of the Judges in their respective Circuits, on This-day-sevennight, next after the Act for registering Conveyances.

Army in Scotland.

Resolved, That it be referred to the special Care of the Council of State, and that they be required to take effectual Course and give strict Command to all the Officers and Soldiers belonging to the Army in Scotland, presently to repair to their respective Charges there: And that the Lord General be desired from this House, to take it into his special Care to keep Officers and Soldiers there, with their particular Charges, for the Service of the State.

Ordered, That the Remainder of the Monies, besides what is already charged upon the Fee-farm Rents, that shall arise by Sale of the Fee-farm Rents, shall be set apart for defraying the extraordinary Charge in the carrying on the War in Scotland: And that the Council of State be impowered, from time to time, to issue Warrants for Payment of the Monies so to be raised for the Uses aforesaid; giving Account thereof, from time to time, to the Parliament.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Council of State to consider of the State of the Accompt of the Fee-farm Rents; how it stands; and what will be the most effectual Way for bringing in the Remainder of the Money to be raised by the Sale of the said Rents, for the Uses aforesaid; and present their Opinion to the House.

The House, according to former Order, adjourned itself to Tuesday Morning next, Eight of Clock.
