PRAYERS.

Honyman's Escape.

ORDERED, That Jones, the Serjeant's Man, be examined at the Committee for Examinations, touching the Escape of one Honeyman, taken as a Spy: And that Mr. Wm. Ducy be examined by the said Committee, concerning Intelligence with the said Spy.

Raising Money.

Ordered, That Mr. Pierrepont shall have Liberty to bring in an Ordinance for raising of Monies in the County of Salop.

Bainton Parsonage.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for plundered Ministers, to bring forthwith an Ordinance for sequestering of the Parsonage of Bainton, whereof one Mr. Faulcon is Rector, to the Use and Benefit of Mr. Robert Faulcon is Rector, to the Use and Benefit of Mr. Robert Johnson, an orthodox Preacher, well known to divers Divines in the Synod (fn. a).

Taking of Bridlington.

Two Letters from the Lord Fairefaxe, one of the 29, the other of the 30th of January; and another from Sir Wm. Constable, of the 29th of January; concerning the taking in of Bridlington; were this Day read.

Proceedings against Delinquents.

Ordered, That Mr. Asheton be forthwith sent for, to attend the House presently, to answer his Contempt, in not obeying the Orders of this House, whereby he was appointed to pay Fifteen hundred Pounds for the Service of the Forces under the Lord Fairefaxe.

Ordered, That all the Goods belonging to any Persons, in actual War against the Parliament, or any otherwise liable to Sequestration, be forthwith removed, and taken into the Custody of the Sequestrators, and by them sold, according to the Ordinance of Sequestrations.

Resolved, &c. That all the Goods belonging to the Earl of Berks, the Earl of Clare, Mr. Walt. Mountagu, the Lord Herbert of Cherbery, the Lord Abercorme, shall be presently seized and sold; and the Proceed thereof employed for the Use and Service of the Forces under the Command of the Lord Fairefaxe: And it is referred to the Committee for the Lord Fairfaxe, where Mr. Millington has the Chair, to see this Order put in Execution: And Mr. Gourdon is added to this Committee.

Ordered, That the Goods belonging to the Lord Cottington, sequestered by the Committee at Cambden House, be forthwith sold; and the Proceed employed for the Lord Fairefaxe.

Resolved, &c. That the Goods belonging to the Bishop of Armagh shall be forthwith sequestered, seized, and sold; and the Proceed employed to the Use and Service of the Forces under the Lord Fairfaxe.

Resolved, in the like manner, for the Goods of the Bishop of Winchester, to be sequestered and sold, for the Service of the Forces under the Lord Fairefaxe.

Resolved, in the like manner, for the Goods of Sir Jo. Bankes, to be sequestered and sold, for the Service of the Forces under the Command of the Lord Fairfaxe.

Securing choice Books.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for selecting and securing of choice Books, to consider of some Place that may be most publick, for the disposing of such Books in, as they shall account to be choice Books.

Colepeper's Sequestration.

Ordered, That Sir Tho. Walsingham do send down to the Committee of Sequestrations in Kent, that the Estate of Jo. Colepeper may be sequestered, and his Goods seized, and sold.

Letter read.

A Letter from the Commissioners from Scotland from Worcester-house, of the Ninth of February, with a Paper inclosed, was this Day read; and presently sent up to the Lords by Sir Peter Wentworth.

Lord Fairefaxe.

Ordered, That, so soon as the Business in this Letter shall be put in a Way, that then the Business concerning the Lord Fairfaxe shall be resumed.

Message to Lords.

Sir Peter Wentworth is appointed to go the Lords, and to carry up unto them the Letter from the Scotts Commissioners, and the Paper inclosed: And to desire them to expedite the Ordinance concerning the uniting of the Councils of both Kingdoms; and to desire, that this Letter and Paper may be sent down again.

League and Covenant.

An Exhortation touching the taking of the solemn League and Covenant; and for satisfying of such Scruples as may arise in the taking of it; was this Day read the First and Second time; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be forthwith printed.

Answer from Lords.

Sir Peter Wentworth brings Answer, That the Members of their House, for dispersing the Declaration of both Kingdoms, shall meet this Afternoon in the Painted Chamber; and are upon the Business intimated by the Scotts; and have received Letters to the same *.

Printer to the House.

Ordered, That Mr. Wheeler do think of some Way, how Mr. Usbands, Printer to the House, may be paid and satisfied for the Service he is now enjoined to perform, in printing the Covenants and Declarations; and for other Services he has formerly performed; and to bring in some Order to this Purpose.

Associated Counties.

Ordered, That the Ordinance for the Four associated Counties, under the Command of Sir Wm. Waller, be reported, and taken into Consideration, To-morrow Morning.

Member committed for Contempt.

Mr. Asheton, a Member of the House, who is likewise one of the Receivers of the King's Revenue; and was, by several Orders, required to pay Fifteen hundred Pounds of the King's Revenue, confessed to be in his Hands; was demanded why, in Contempt of the Orders of Parliament, he had not yet paid in the said Monies: Answered, That, within a short time, he understood, out of the County, that Seven or Eight hundred Pounds of the Money would be ready; and further he could not answer.

Resolved, That Mr. Asheton, for his Contempt in not paying in the Monies in his Hands, as one of the Receivers of the King's Revenue, according to several Orders of this House, shall be committed Prisoner to the Tower; there to remain during the Pleasure of the House.

Committee revived.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Business between the Wrays and Bointon be revived; and do meet this Afternoon in the Court of Wards; and that Mr. Gourdon and Sir Edw. Hungerford be added to this Committee.

Lord Fairefaxe.

Ordered, That the Business concerning the Lord Fairefaxe be resumed into Consideration To-morrow.

Judgement in King's Bench.

Ordered, That Judgement be entered in the King's Bench in the Cause wherein Mr. Pickering, and others, are Plaintiffs, and the Duke D'Espernon, Defendant; and that the Fees of Damage Cleer, due to the Master of the Office, be paid to Mr. Bond, a Member of this House; And the Officers and Clerks, in that Office and Court, are appointed, and hereby required to sign and make Entry of the Judgement, accordingly: And the Parties concerned to pay in their Monies.

Chelmesford Parsonage.

An Order for sequestring of the Rents and Profits of the Parsonage of Chelmesford, in the County of Essex, whereof Dr. Michelson is now Rector, to the Use of Mark Mott, Master of Arts, a godly, learned, and orthodox Divine; who is hereby appointed and required to preach every Lord's Day there; and to take care for Discharge of the Cure of that Place, in all the Duties thereof; and to receive the Profits thereof, until further Order shall be taken by this House; was this Day read; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto.

Raising Money.

Ordered, That Mr. Pierrepont do bring in an Ordinance for raising of Monies in the County of Shropshire.
