Pass Warrants granted.

RESOLVED, That Mr. Barrington Bourchier, and Mr. Luke Robinson, shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant to go beyond Seas, with each of them a Servant.

Resolved, That Mr. Heneage Finch shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant to pass beyond Seas, with one Servant.

Graye's Inn Lecturer.

Ordered, That the Gentlemen of Graye's Inn, that are of this House, do take Order, that Mr. Philip Edlin, Clerk, whom this House, for the Complaints against him, have not thought fit to continue in the Parsonage he now has, be not admitted as Lecturer at Graye's Inn.

Person sent for.

Resolved, &c. That Dr. Marsh shall be forthwith sent for, as a Delinquent.

St. Dunstane in the West Vicarage.

An Order for sequestring the Profits and Vicarage of St. Dunstane in the West, London, whereof Dr. Marsh is Vicar; and putting Mr. Andrew Perne, a Master of Arts, a godly, learned, and orthodox Divine; who is to officiate the Cure as Vicar, and to preach diligently, and to receive the Profits thereof; was this Day read; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto.

Lambeth Parsonage.

The Order for sequestring the Parsonage of Lambeth from Dr. Featly, was propounded:

Bushy Parsonage.

An Order for sequestring the Parsonage of Bushy, in the County of Herts (whereof Dr. Seaton was Parson, and ordered, by Order of both Houses, to be turned out; and while this was in proceeding, by Combination, Mr. Philip Edlyn Clerk was instituted and inducted); and the putting in of Mr. Marmaduke Browne, Master of Arts, a godly, learned, and orthodox Divine; who is to officiate the Cure as Parson, and to receive the Benefits thereof; was this Day read; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto.

Letter, &c. from Manchester.

A Letter from the Committee at Manchester, of the Sixth of July; and Summons inclosed, from the Earl of Newcastle, whereby he summoned the said Town of * *

Brereton's Delinquency.

Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the Committee for the Safety of the Kingdom, to examine the whole Business of Delinquency, and assisting his Majesty, informed against Sir. Tho. Brereton, lately deceased; and to open his Trunks that are seized; and to report what Plate and Monies are in the said Trunks; and to give a Reward to the Party that discovered these Trunks; if the Money and Plate in them shall be found justly forfeitable to the Parliament, by the Delinquency of the said Sir Tho. Brereton.

Governor of Hull.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth nominate and appoint Ferdinando Lord Fairefax, to be Governor of the Town of Hull: And that the Committees at Hull be aiding and assisting unto the said Lord Fairefaxe, upon all Occasions.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein; and my Lord General to be acquainted herewith.

Committees to Scotland.

Ordered, That To-morrow Morning the Ordinance for establishing the Committees that are appointed to go into Scotland, and the Instructions for the said Committees, and the several Letters, be brought in, and considered, of, To-morrow Morning, 'the first Business: And that the Committee, that prepared them, do attend the House at the first Sitting.

Message to Lords.

Sir Wm. Strickland carried up to the Lords the Vote for making the Lord Fairefax Governor of the Town of Hull; and the Order for giving the publick Faith to Mr. Rosse, for the Money of his seized upon Endeavour of Transportation.

Answer.

Sir Wm. Strickland brings Answer, that the Lords do agree to the Messages carried up by him.

Letter read.

According to an Order Yesterday made, the Lord General's Letter of the Ninth of July, Yesterday received, was read; and taken into Consideration.

Recruiting the Army.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Rob. Riche and Mr. Page;

The Lords have sent a Letter, which they have lately received from my Lord General: It concerns the supply- ing my Lord with Five hundred Horse; and Two hun- dred Horse monthly for recruiting: The Lords have thereupon conceived fit, that all the Commanders of Horse, and the Horses about this Town, except such as are assigned for the Safety of the City, should be sent down presently to my Lord General, by Friday, at farthest: And that it be referred to the Committee for the Safety of the Kingdom, to see this done accordingly.

Resolved, &c. That the Answer to these Messengers shall be, That this House doth agree with the Lords, in sending away the Commanders and Horse to his Excel- lency, in the manner expressed in their Lordships Message.

Answer returned, by the same Messengers; that this House has considered their Lordships Message; and do agree, in sending down the Horses, in the manner as is desired.

Message to Lords.

Sir Rob. Harley is appointed to go to the Lords, to desire that the Committees of Lords and Commons, appointed to prepare an Answer to the late Proclamation . . . at such times as the Lords shall think fit.

Answer to Lord General.

Committees to Scotland.

Sir Peter Wentworth is appointed to go to the Lords, to desire that they would nominate and appoint another Lord to go as one of the Committees into Scotland.

St. Mary's, Dovor, Lecturer.

Upon an humble Petition, presented on the Behalf of Dovor, desiring, that Mr. Michael Porter, a pious, learned, and orthodox Divine, might be their Lecturer, to preach every Lord's Day in the Afternoon, and every Wednesday in the Week Days, in the Parish of St. Mary's in Dovor: It is Ordered, That the said Mr. Porter be recommended unto the Inhabitants of the said Town, to be their Lec- turer, to preach there at the Times and Place appointed: And that the Parson of the said Parish, or whom else it may concern, do permit the said Mr. Porter to exercise his Function, by preaching accordingly, without any of their Letts or Interruption.

Raising Forces in Chichester.

Ordered, That the humble Petition of Mr. Henry Chit- tey, desiring he may have an Order to raise a Foot Com- pany in Chichester, this Day read, be referred to the Con- sideration of Colonel Stapley, Governor of Chichester.

Recorder of Chichester.

Ordered, That Mr. Higgins be recommended, by Let- ter from Mr. Speaker, in the Name of the House, to the Mayor and City of Chichester, to be their Recorder.

Great Seal.

Ordered, That Mr. Marten do To-morrow bring hither the Man that will undertake to grave the Great Seal, to receive his Directions.

Absent Members.

Ordered, That the Committee for absent Members do sit this Afternoon: And that Sir Tho. Peyton do attend that Committee, and give an Account of his Absence.

Barnham's Assessment.

Ordered, That Sir F. Barnkam be referred to the Com- mittee of this House appointed to assess the Members of this House, upon the Propositions; to consider what he has done; and to assess him: And that the said Com- mittee do sit daily; and from time to time report their Proceedings.

Committee to Scotland.

Sir Peter Wentworth brings Answer, that the Lords have nominated another Lord of their House to go as a Committee into Scotland; viz. the Earl of Rutland.

Barnham's Contribution.

Ordered, That Sir Rob. Harley, and Sir Peter Wroth, do go to Sir F. Barnham, to know what he will contribute to the publick Charge of the Country.

Fortifying Lincolneshire.

An Ordinance for fortifying the Flatts in Lincolneshire, was this Day read; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto.

Message from Lords.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Rob. Riche and and Mr. Page;

The Lords, by reason of the unexpected Business of this Day, could not proceed to the Trial of Mr. Justice Bartlett; and therefore they have deferred the said Trial till Thursday next.

Sir Wm. St. Ravy, a French Gentleman, has moved the Lords, to grant him a Pass into France, to condole the Death of the King his Master: They do think fit to grant him his Desire; and desire this House to grant him the like.

Sir Wm. St. Ravy.

Resolved, That the Person of Sir Wm. St. Ravy shall be forthwith seized and apprehended, and kept in safe Custody by the Serjeant at Arms; as an Enemy to this State, and one who has been in actual War against the Parliament.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; This House has considered of their Lordships Message; and, as to that Part of the Message concerning Sir Wm. St. Ravy, they will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Sir Wm. St. Ravy.

Sir Christ. Yelverton went up to the Lords, to acquaint them, that whereas the Lords desire this House to concur in a Pass for Sir Wm. St. Ravy to go beyond Seas; that this House is informed, that he hath been in actual War against the Parliament; and therefore that is the Reason they cannot concur.

Summons to Manchester.

Ordered, That it be referred to Mr. Rous, to make some Observations upon the Earl of Newcastle's Sum- mons to Manchester, that it may be published.

Transactions with Holland.

Ordered, That the Answer to the Propositions of his Majesty's Resident at the Hagh, made to the Lords the States General of the United Provinces, be brought in, and considered of, To-morrow Morning.

Ogleby's Petition.

Ordered, That the humble Petition of Colonel Wm. Ogleby be referred to the Consideration of the Committee for the Safety; to examine the Business, and report the State of it to the House.

Atkins' Pass.

Ordered, That Mr. Richard Atkins, his Majesty's Ward, shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant for himself, his Governor and Servant, to pass beyond Seas.

Gery's Petition.

The humble Petition of Wm. Gery Esquire was this Day read: And it is Ordered, That it be referred to the Consideration of Committee for Examinations.

Cursitor of Yorke.

Ordered, That an Ordinance be brought in, to enable Mr. Jo. Rushworth to execute the Place of Cursitor for the County of Yorke, in the Place and Stead of Mr. Lambe, who formerly held and executed the said Place, and is since deceased; and to receive and take all Ad- vantages and Perquisites belonging to the said Place.

Removing Judges, &c.

Ordered, That the Committee appointed to bring in an Ordinance concerning such as have had Honours con- ferred upon them, since his Majesty withdrew himself from his Parliament, shall insert a Clause in that Ordinance, to put these Judges out of their Places, and to take from them the Power of bestowing any Places in their disposing, that are at Oxon with the King, and do not attend the Service of their Places here.

Person to attend.

Ordered, That Mr. Pilson be summoned to attend the House, to give an Account of his going to Oxon.

Hamilton's Losses, &c.

Ordered, That the Petition of Captain Archibald Ha- milton be referred to the Committee for the Safety of the Kingdom; to consider of his Losses, and the Arrear of his Pay due unto him; and to grant out their Warrants to the Treasurer at Wars, for his Payment and Satisfaction. And it is further Ordered, That the Committee for signing of Warrants, and disposing of Monies, do consider, out of what Monies such Sum or Sums, as shall be ordered by the Committee for the Safety to be paid unto the said Captain Hamilton, may be satisfied; and to sign Warrants for the Satisfaction accordingly.

Clerk of Assize.

The Lords and Commons, in Parliament assembled, being informed, that, by the Death of George Cradock Esquire, late Clerk of Assize for the Counties of Berks, Oxford, Gloucester, Worcester, Hereford, Salop, Stafford, and Monmouth, the Records and Writings, late in his Custody, belonging to the said Counties (being of great Concernment in regard of the Lives and Estates of his Majesty's Subjects, in the aforesaid Counties) are in great Danger to be lost or embezelled; they being dispersed in several Places, no Person having them in particular Charge: The said Lords and Commons therefore, upon the assured Trust and Confidence which they have and do repose in the Abilities and Fidelity of Wm. White Esquire, do or- dain and declare, that the said Wm. White shall and may from henceforth have, hold, execute, and enjoy the Place and Office of Clerk of Assize in the said several Coun- ties of Berks, Oxford, Gloucester, Worcester, Herefford, Salop, Stafford, and Monmouth; and that the said Wm. White shall and may have, receive, perceive, and take to his own Use, the due and accustomed Fees and Profits belonging to the said Office. And the said Lords and Commons do further ordain and appoint, that all and every Person and Persons, who hath or have in his, her or their Hands or Custodies, any Records, or Writings, belonging to the said Counties, or any of them, and which usually have been or ought to be in the Custody of the Clerk of Assize of the said Counties, or any of them, do and shall forthwith, upon Notice, deliver the same, or cause them to be delivered unto the aforesaid Wm. White, or unto such Person or Persons, as he shall nominate and appoint for that Purpose.
