Scudamore complained against Bishop for scandalous words, and there were proceedings in June and November 1636; but no indication of sentence survives.

Notes

Richard Bishop of London, gent, was mentioned in the Visitation of 1633, as son of William Bishop, gent, and Alice, daughter of William Duning. Richard married Mary, daughter of Humphrey Walcot of Walcot, co. Salop, esq. There was no mention of Scudamore in the Visitations of London or Middlesex.

On 1 January 1630 John Scudamore, esq, and his wife, Elizabeth, were licensed to alienate the manor, rectory and advowson of Edgware, co. Middlesex to Sir William Blake and Rafe Massy, gent. On 22 June 1637 an order was issued to apprehend Rafe Massy in Middlesex for failing to appear in court to answer charges from John Scudamore. On 18 November 1637 a special livery was granted to John, son of John Scudamore, esq. On 1 December 1637 John and Elizabeth Scudamore were again licensed to alienate the manor, rectory and advowson of Edgware, but this time to Thomas, Lord Coventry, Thomas Rogers, gent, and Thomas Danett, gent.
