PREFACE
The present volume is a further instalment of a Calendar of certain documents selected from the class formerly known as Escheats, or Inquisitions post mortem. It covers the period from the 39th to the 43rd year of the reign of Edward III. The text has been prepared by Mr. J. B. W. Chapman, M.A., late of this Office, and the volume has been edited and passed through the press by Mr. M. C. B. Dawes, B.A., of this Office. Mr. Dawes has also compiled the Index.
