1. Receiver's Account 1479–1480

The roll is damaged at its head and consists of five sheets of paper 30 cm wide sewn end to end. There are no surviving returns from York, Nottingham, Norwell Overall, Bowes and Polehouse, London, Ardleigh, Runwell, or Hackney. Sheet one measures 32 cm in length and sheet four 37 cm. The remaining sheets are 41 cm long.

To William Steward for the manors, demesnes and lands held in farm by the Dean, as appears by five bills: £172 7s. 7¾d. (fn. 4)

For fifty-one baskets of salt fish bought at Canterbury for the household, £3 6s. 8d.

The Goldsmith
To Nicholas Flynte, goldsmith of London, for 22½ oz. silver at 3s. 4d. per oz. (75s.) used for repairing and making two salt-cellars; also paid for the repair of two salt-cellars, (30s.), with 6s. 8d. paid for silver by the oz. and for his work in burnishing the salt-cellars, as shown in one paper bill, £5 11s. 8d.
To Thomas Fitzwarren for a gilded cup bought on 15 July 1480, as shown in a bill, £3 13s. 4d.

Carriage of wood
To Roger Frende, John Chalk, and the Prioress of Kilburn for the carriage of seventy-one carts of wood from [–] to London, at 12d. per cart, as shown by three tallies: £3 11s. 0d.
Necessary Expenses
For goods and stuffs bought for the household of the said Dean, as shown in twelve folios of the quarterly paper: £73 1s. 10½d.
Fees Paid
The accountant's fee, for the terms of Easter and the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, £1.
To Thomas Bunewell, Marmaduke Cressy, William Lokkey, servants of the Dean in part payment for their fees, for Easter term, each receiving 6s. 8d.
To Stephen Holt, servant of the Dean, in part payment of his fee, for Easter term, 9s. 2d.
To John Fuldon, servant of the Dean, in part payment of his fee, for the terms of Easter and the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, 13s. 4d.
