(1) Settlement (SO 954116), Romano-British, at the W. edge of a plateau and immediately below the 900-ft. contour, lies 600 yds. W. of Ermin Street. A scatter of Romano-British pottery of the 1st to 4th centuries has been found by Mr. P. D. C. Brown. An inscribed lead ingot of A.D. 79 was recovered during ploughing in 1962.
