Entry 'Emma Baxter, an ignorant and bold woman, was committed to prison on 7 February because she practised medicine and was released on the eleventh of the same month on the surety given by her husband William Baxter and Nicholas Staples a citizen of London to the College and its successors that she would not practise medicine either in London or elsewhere: this was accepted by the Comitia held on the same day and she was dismissed with the injunction to pay our official 3s. 4d. to clear her expenses in the prison.'
