448 MORRICE V LLOYD

Edward Morrice of Glankinlyth [Llanefydd?], co. Denbigh, esq v John Lloyd of Llansilin, co. Denbigh

Abstract

Morrice complained that Lloyd had said of him that 'he cared not for all the Morrices, for (by God) all the generation of them are base.' Process was granted on 29 June 1639 and Morrice entered bond to prosecute on 12 July; but no further proceedings survive.

'Your petitioner is a gentleman descended of a generous family and hath beene lately sheriffe of the county of Denbigh. That one John Lloyd of Heanplase in the parish of Llansillin in the county of Denbigh hath much abused your petitioner and his whole family in publishing and speaking these words following; That he cared not for all the Morrices, for (by God) all the generation of them are base.'

Petitioned that Lloyd be brought to answer.

Maltravers granted process on 29 June 1639.

12 July 1639

Bound to appear 'in the Court in the painted Chamber within the Pallace of Westminster'.

Signed by Thomas Jones of Bladwell [Llanyblodwel], co. Salop, gent, on behalf of Morrice.

Sealed, subscribed and delivered in the presence of John Watson.
