Gawen Moore of Quethiocke, co. Cornwall, gent v Richard Jenkin of the same, yeoman
December 1637 - February 1638
Abstract
Moore complained that Jenkin had given him the lie in October 1637, and called him 'a base knave and a base cozening cheating knave'. Process was granted on 6 December 1637, and Dr Eden presented the libel on 12 February 1638; but no further proceedings survive.

'The petitioner being a gentleman of armes and antient family was in October last much abused by many evill and base words given him by one Richard Jenkin of Quethicke in the countie of Cornewall, yeoman. Jenkin amongst other base fellows in a very opprobrious manner giving the petitioner the lye, and sayeing he was a base knave and a base cozening cheating knave, without any provocation.'
Petitioned that Jenkin be brought to answer.
Duck desired Dethick to grant process, 6 December 1637.

Summary of proceedings
Dr Eden acted as counsel for Moore, and on 27 January 1638 Jenkin was required to appear in response to a summons. Dr Eden presented the libel on 12 February 1638.
