Vicesimo Septimo die Februarii 1616

The Oath of William Dodd and Francis Kemp and Robert Griffith as Master and Wardens & as Assistants of y e Society

This day appeared before the Right hono^ble the Lord Maior of the Citty of London William Dod Francis Kemp and Robert Griffith Gent, all three of them free of the Society of y^e Writers of the Citty of London and presented unto his Lordship his Ma^ts: Letters Patents bearing date at Westminster the Eight and Twentieth day of January now last past By which it appeareth the said William Dod to be assigned and constituted the first and Moderne Master of the same Society to remaine therein from the day of the date of the same Letters Patents untill y^e Tuesday next after the Feast of S^t James Thapostle now next ensuing, And from that Tuesday untill another fit and discreet person of the same Society shall be chosen to be Master thereof And it also appeareth by the same Letters Pattents that the said Francis Kemp and Robert Griffith are named and appointed to be the first and Moderne Wardens of the said Society to continue for the tyme aforesaid. And moreover the said William Dod Francis Kempe and Robert Griffith are therein named and assigned three of the first and Moderne Assistants of the said Society respectively dureing their naturall Lives unles for cause reasonable they shall be amoved And thereupon every of them severally and respectively accordingly as they are limitted in and by the said Letters Patents did take their corporall Oathes before his Lordshipp as Master and Wardens and as assistants of the said Society faithfully and honestly to execute their severall places dureing so long time as every of them shall severally continue in them.
