862. William Panter made Oath that he was a hired Serv^t by the Year with John Palmer of the parish of Rame in the County of Cornwall Farmer and served him under that hiring for one whole Year and hath not gained any legal Settlem^t elswhere. (fn. 1)

John Pattison complaind upon oath against John Townesend one of the Constables of the parish of S^t John at Hackney for refuseing to aid [him deleted] and assist [altered from assisting] him in secureing one John Smith a Diserter whom he had taken on the 20^th day of May 1736. John Townesend of the parish of Hackney Carpenter in £20 To appear at the next General Sessions of the Peace to be held for the County of Middlesex at Hicks=hall in S^t. John Street then and there to answer the Complaint of John Pattison for refuseing to aid and assist him in Secureing one John Smith a Deserter he being one of the Constables of the s^d. parish &c. [Marginal entries: Returned and Del]. John Pattison of Hackney Labourer £20 To appear at the next General Sessions to prosecute the s^d John Townesend for the sd Offence. 879. Ann Archer made Oath that Elizabeth Atwood was buryed in Woolen.

880. Isaac Wintell applyed for leave to sell ale & Beer till the next General Renewing of Licenses at the Naggs head in Mare Street. Agreed That he have leave to sell 'till that time & that he be then Licensed.

881. Allowed a Certificate directed to the Governours of the Hospital of Bethlahem whereby Marg^t Baldrey is owned to be Inhabitant Legally settled in the parish of S^t John at Hackney. (fn. 7)

882. Richard Segood was Sworn to serve the Office of Constable for the parish of Bromley Saint Leonard for the year ensuing.

884. Luke Townesend applyed for leave to draw ale in the house late M^r John Woodwards called Tylers Ferry. Agreed That he have leave to draw drink there till the next General meeting for Licensing.

885. The accounts of M^r. Francis Cokayne late Church Warden and Overseer of the Poor of the Hamlet of Mile End Old Towne [deletion] were this day [deletion] laid before the above named Justices whereby it appeared that he hath rec^d the sum of £425=1^s=3½^d and paid the sum of £393=17^s=8½^d and that is due to ballance the said account the sum of £31=3^s=7^d which was allowed & Confirmed by them.

886. Also the accompts of Cap^t John Redman Overseer of the Poor for the said Hamlet for the said Year were likewise allowed & Confirmed by which he [paid deleted] appears to have rec^{d £}258=6^s=1½^d and paid £191=1^s=5^d and there is due from him to ballance the sum of £67=4^s=8½^d

887. Granted a warrant to apprehend John Everton for assaulting Mary Wright on her Oath.

888. Elizabeth Bleven made oath that Mary Barr late Deceased was buryed in Sheeps wool only.

889. Henry Harrill made oath that the body of one Isaac lately Deceased was Buryed in Sheeps Wool only. (fn. 8)

890. Signed a Warrant to apprehend Thomas Grissell & Samuel Mallion for Intruding into the Hamlet of Mile End Old Towne to Inhabit as parishioners contrary to Law and refuseing or neglecting to attend upon us to give an account touching their last legal Settlement as oath thereof hath been made before us by Christopher Best one of the Overseers of the poor they being likely to become chargeable to the said Hamlet.

891. Thomas Coleman was Sworn to Execute the Office of Headborough for the parish of S^t John at Hackney for the year ensuing.

894. Richard Herbert applyed for Leave to sell Drink at the sign of the Plow in Homerton. Agreed that he have leave accordingly.

895. John Masling D° at the Sun in Church Street. Agreed That he have leave accordingly.

896. Ordered That M^r William Weston the Churchwarden do forthwith pay to Richard Moore Seven shillings & Six pence to support him on his Journey towards Ireland he being in great want.

897. Signed an Order to remove Mary Jones widow from the Hamlet of Mile End Old Towne in the County of Middlesex to the precinct of Saint Katherines in the same County.

898. Signed an Order to remove Bennett Burdett from the parish of Hackney to the parish of Saint Peter poor in Broad Street in the City of London.

899. Henry Norris Esq^r Took the Examⁿ of Mary Frances Singlewoman touching her pregnancy who came Voluntarily before him and Signed a warrant at the request of M^r John Law one of the overseers of the poor of the parish of Saint Mary of Stratford Bow in the County of Middlesex to apprehend William Mealing the putative father.

900. Thomas Hartley was Sworn before the above named Justices to Execute the Office of Ale Conner for the parish of Saint Mary of Stratford Bow.

907. Stephen Ram and Samuel Tyssen Esq^rs allowed and Confirmed six months Rate for the parish of S^t. Mary of Stratford Bow from Ladyday last to Michaelmass following amounting to the Sum of One hundred and Eighteen pounds Seven shillings and [six deleted] three pence.

908. M^r. William Weston Churchwarden and Overseer of the Poor of the parish of Saint John at Hackney in the County of Middlesex applyed to the above named Justices for a Warrant to Levy the penalty on the person who caused the Body of Martha Adey to be Buryed no affadavit having been made of its being Interred in woolen. Ordered That proper Enquiry be made and a warrant of Distress made out accordingly.

909. Robert Harding applyed for a License to sell ale & Beer at the Sign of the Black Swan on Cambridge Heath in the room of W^m. Browne. Ordered That he have leave to draw Drink 'till the Defaulting day for granting of Licenses and that he be then Licensed.

910. Alexander Garrett Esq^r Granted a [deletion] Warrant to apprehend John Curtis for leaving his wife and Children without making any provision for them whereby they are become burthensome and Chargeable to the parish of Hackney on the Oath of M^r. W^m. Weston Churchwarden. [See 211, 243].

911. Agreed That a meeting be held here on Thursday the Second day of December next at nine of the clock in the morning to hear the several Defaulters that have neglected to perform their Statute worke on the Highwayes of this parish for this present year.

912. Agreed That Thomas Enderbury have leave to sell Drink at the sign of the Rose & Crowne at Kingsland late John Prices till the next General Meeting for Licensing.

913. Adjorned to Thursday the 2^d day of December next, to this place, to nine in the morning.
