In the name of God, Amen, on the twentieth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand, five hundred and four, I Robert Sketyll of Tathwell, of whole mind and sound memory, make my testament in this manner: First, I bequeath and commend my soul to Almighty God, Blessed Mary and all His Saints; and my body to be buried in the church of St. Vedast of Tathewell, with my best beast in the name of my mortuary. Also I bequeath to the fabric of the mother church of Lincoln iiijd. To the high altar of the same church iiijd. To the high altar of Tathewell aforesaid xxd. for tithes forgotten. Also I will and strictly enjoin that all my lands and tenements, meadows, pastures and feedings with their appurtenances within the town and fields of Tathewell aforesaid, or elsewhere within the county of Lincoln, be sold to pay all my debts by the counsel of William Oueri, vicar of the church of Tathwell, who is enfeoffed in all the aforesaid premises, whom I ordain and make my executor to order and dispose for the health of my soul as to him shall seem most expedient. The residue of my goods, my debts having been fully paid, I give and bequeath to Isabel my wife to succour and maintain my children (filiorum). These being witnesses, Sir John Ewan of Tathewell, chaplain, John Wilkynson of the same, Richard Rathby of lowth, John Frichnay of Gremolby.

In the name of god, Amen, the xx day of the monethe of April in the yere of our lord god m^occccc^oiiij^o, I William Cupuldyke of Haryngton, hawyng my hole mynde and gud memore, makys my testament and laste wille in this maner and forme foloyng: ferst I gif my sawle to almyghty god and our blessed lady Saynt mare and to all the Sanctes in hewne, and my body to be bureed where as yt shall be thowthe most convenyent by myne executores. Also I will that the hy awter of haryngton hawe for tythes forgotyn vjs. viijd. Also I gif to the churche of haryngton vjs. viijd. Also I gif to our lady of lincoln xijd. Also I gif to churche of aswardby xxd. Also I gif to the churches of Sutterby, Enderby and Brynkell xijd. each. Also I will that if eny man or woman canne clayme eny det or dewte and make suffycyent prove therof that thei be content and payed. And if I hawe wronged eny man by acc'on or ether wyse I will he be recompensed acordyng to gud concyence. Also I will that a noneste preste be fonde a yere to pray for my sawle in the chirche of haryngton, and all this to be had takyne and presawyd of my gudes. Also I will that there be a nobet keped in the chirche of haryngton yerly without ende for my fader sawle and myne, and my antecessores, my moder sawle, my wywes sawle, and all cristen sawles, with prestes, clerkys, ryngyng of bellys, and pore folke to be at the same. And there to be disposed yerly xs. by the discrestion of myne executores feoffores. I will that my wyffe hawe hyer jwnter without eny interrupcion terme of hyre lyfe. Also I will that John Cupuldyke my neldest son hawe yerly to his fyndyng vj marke to he cum to age of xv yeres, and after from that age to he cum to lawfull age xl. And if it be soo that [folio 5] the vj marke yerly benot spent of hym fully in the space of the seid xv yeris, then I will that the rewenes be keped and spent of hym to his best promoc' on in the other yeres thenne nexe ensewyng; also I will that hamond Cupuldyke my sone hawe to his fyndyng yerly to he cum to the age of xxj yere v marke, and to be orderrede in maner and forme as it is afore rehersed for his broder John; also I will that Thomas my sone hawe to his fyndyng yerly to he cum to the age of xxj yeres iiij marke and it to be orderred in maner and forme os it is afore rehersed for his broder John; and if my wife be with a sonne thenne I will that yt hawe yerly to the fyndyng to yt be of the age of xxj yere iiij marke, and yt to be orderred in maner and forme as yt is afore rehersed for his broder John; and all thise to be presawyd and takyn of the isews and profettes of all my landes and tenementes, rentes, reverc'ones and serveces beyng in the handes of my feoffes; also I will that my wiffe hawe iij silver gobilettes parsell gylte with a coveryng the terme of hyre lyfe, and aftere to remayne to my sonne and myne here so a nare lome for ewre. Also I will that my sonne hamond hawe all my perchessed landes the which I bowthe of George Jenkynson in Enderby to hym and his heres male of his body cumyng; also I will that my sonne hamond hawe xxl. Also I wyll that my sonne Thomas hawe xxl. Also if my wyfe be wyth a sonne thenne I will that yt hawe xxl. Also I will that my dowghter Elizabeth hawe to hyre mareage c marke[s]. And if she be disposed to be a woman of religion I will she hawe xx marke[s] or more os yt schall be thowthe resnabull by the discreson of myn executores. Also I will that Cecyll my dowghter hawe to hir mareage c marke[s]. And if my dowghter Elizabethe dy or sche be maryed, or yf she be a voman of religion, thenne I will that my dowghter Cecyll hawe of hyr mareage mony l marke[s]; also if my wif be with a dowghter, I will yt hawe c marke[s]. And if my dowghter Cycill dy or sche be mareed, thenne I will that my dowghter Elizabeth hawe to hir mareage yf sche be mareed of hyr sister Cecyll mareage mone 1 marke[s]. And if my seid dowghteres Elizabeth and Cecyll dy or they be mareed thenne I will that yf my wif be with a dowghter that yt have 1 marke[s] of ther mareage mony. Also I will that my broder James hawe to a rewarde xls.; also I will that my broder leonard haw to a reward xls.; and all this mone unto my seid chylderyn and broder to be had [folio 5d] of all my landes and tenementes, etc., beyng in the handes of my feoffe[s]. And also I will that the seid landes rest seyll [sic] in the handes of my seid feoffe[s] to this my last will be performed, and after my will be performed, I will that my feoffe[s] make a state of all my seid landes to my sonne John and to his heres male of his bode lawfully begoten; and for defawte of isew male, to remayne to my sone hamond and to his heres male of his body lawfully begoten; and for defawte of here[s] male of me the said William Cupuldyke I will all the said landes remayne to my next heres in fee. And if my sonne John dy or he cum to lawfull age, thenne I will that my sonne hamond hawe his bequeste whiche he shold haf had dewryng his nonage, and my sonne Thomas to hawe his broder hamonde parte in maner and forme os it was setto hym; and if eny of my said yonger sonnes decesse or thei cum to lawfull age, thenne I will that my dowghteres hawe one of the yongest sonnes iiij marken to ther fyndyng. I will that Marget my wyffe hawe all my hostelmente[s] of howssold and all my gudes, catall moweabull and wnmoweabull, my feuneralles keped, my dettes payed, my dowghter browthup, myne executores and servandes rewarded. I will that all my chelderen be rowled by there moder if sche be wnmareed, and by myn executores and feoffe[s] for this cause that yf sche be mareed sche most be rewled and not rewle; and thenne I will that my said schilderen be rewled by myne executores and feoffe[s]. And also if my said dowghters will not be rewled by ther moder and myne executores and feoffe[s] thenne that dowghter or dowghteres that soo es disposed to hawe nothyng of thys my last will. The resedew of my gudes I pwtt to the disposyson of myne executores, whome I make and ordeyne marget my wiffe, William boucher of Willughby, 'gentilman,' sir John byllyngay the persone of the chirche of Aserardby, that they dispose them for the sawle os shall be most plesewre to god and to my last wyll. Also I humely beseke my lord Chancellor of England for the tyme beyng to be the supervisor yf yt plesse hyme. THE TESTAMENT OF THOMAS JOHNSON.

In the name of God, Amen. The ix day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand five hundred and four, I, Thomas Johnson of Barow, of whole mind and sound memory, make my testament in this manner: First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God, St. Mary the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, and all the saints and citizens of heaven, and my body to be buried in the parish church of Barow aforesaid, with my mortuary of right due. Also I bequeath to the fabric of our cathedral and mother church of Lincoln vjs. viijd. Also I bequeath to the fabric of the church of Barow xxs. Also I bequeath to every light within the said church of Barow xijd. Also I bequeath to every order of friars vjs. viijd. To the church of Whitton vjs. viijd. To the abbot and convent of Thornton one old pece of silver with its cover and one 'le Maser' which shall remain there forever. Also I give to the aforesaid abbot xs., and to every canon there viijd. To the vicar of Baro aforesaid my son (fn. 1) my best robe (togam) and my best 'le dublet.' To Robert Inkersell my second best robe (togam), and to Agnes his wife one cow, and to Thomas their son one little heifer and one bull-calf of the age of one year. To Walter Johnson my son one robe (togam) and one 'le dublet' and one cow, and to Thomas his son one little heifer and one bull-calf of the age of one year. Also to the aforesaid Robert Inkersell one roan (rubii coloris) horse of the age of five years. To the said Walter Johnson one young mare and one 'le colt stage.' To Elizabeth Brian one cow and x ewes. To Richard Stevenson vj ewes, and to John Stevenson vj ewes. Also I will that my executors shall maintain (inuenient) William Jacson to celebrate for the health of my soul and the souls of all the faithful dead for a year and a half for the sake of repairing the tenement of the light (fn. 2) of the Blessed Mary in Barow aforesaid. To Margaret my daughter xxxl., so that Elena Johnson her mother keep [her] until the day of her marriage, and then I give it to her clear; and if it happen that the said Margaret depart before the day of marriage, then I will that the aforesaid sum of xxxl. be given amongst my children, viz. to Elena my wife xl., to Stephen my son xl. and to Agnes my daughter vl. viz. the wife of Robert Inkersell. Also I give to William Spillesby vj quarters of barley. Also I give to the ij girls xls. each. To Stephen Johnson one robe (togam) 'furd w^t fox.' To William Jacson one robe (togam). To Walter Clerke my robe (togam) of 'violete' colour 'furd.' To the aforesaid Walter my son xxs. To the aforesaid Robert Inkersell xxs. To Thomas Johnson son of my son Stephen, Elizabeth daughter of the same Stephen, and William son of the same Stephen, each one little heifer of the age of one year and one bull-calf. The residue of my goods I give to my wife Elena and Stephen Johnson my son, whom I make the executors of my will, with the supervision of the lord abbot of Thornton, whom I make my supervisor. In the name of God, Amen, in the year one thousand, five hundred and four, and the tenth day of the month of August, I William Goodwyne of Stickney, of whole mind and good memory, make my testament in this manner: First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God and Blessed Mary and all saints and my body to be buried in the churchyard of St. Luke of Stykeney, with that which is right in the name of my mortuary. To the fabric of the mother church of Lincoln xvjd. To the orphans of St. Katherine without Lincoln iiijd. To the high altar of Stykeney iiijd. To the image of St. Luke iiijd. To every altar there ijd. To the church of Stykeney xijd. To the gild of St. Mary there xijd. To the four orders of friars of boston viijd. To the church of Sybsay iiijd. To the church of Kyrkby iiijd. To the church of Stykforde iiijd. To Joan my wife and my three children (pueris) all my goods equally to be divided between them. The residue of my goods I leave to Joan my wife and John Hogeson, whom I make my executors, to dispose my goods, etc. These being witnesses, Sir Edmund kendyll, Richard cranwell, Simon day, with many [others].

This is my last will. First I gyff to Jenet my wyff the tofte th^t I dwell in the terme of her lyffe, then to remayn to Jenet my doughter and to her heyres. And yf she desesse withowt heyres, it shall remayn to John and Elizabeth. I gyffe to John my sun a tofte callyd 'nyesse house' with my landes lying ther to after the forme afore namyd. I gyff to Elizabeth my doughter a tofte callyd 'fowler house' with my landes lying ther by to her and to the heyr of her body. And yf eny of these decesse with owt heyr ther parte shall Remayn to them th^t ar lyffyng.
