DILLICAR.
1702 17 April. Crook-o-Lune Bridge, Crowther alias Lune Bridge and other bridges between Westmorland and Yorkshire being in decay; order to the chief constable of Lonsdale Ward, Mr. Jas. Bland and Mr. Joseph Ward to view and give an estimate. Report as follows:— Crook-o'-Lune Bridge £2; Crowther alias Lune Bridge £6; Old Lune Bridge £3. Order for assessment of a moiety of these sums in Kendal and Lonsdale Wards, and the clerk of the peace to certify the justices for the West Riding what this court has done. K. Order Book, 16961724.
1722/3 18 January. Presentment that Crooke-o'-Loon Bridge is in decay for want of repair. K. Indictment Book, 1692–1724.
1756 13 July. Presentment that half of a certain bridge called Crook Lune Bridge is one of the public bridges and that the said bridge and 300 feet at the west end is in great decay and ought to be repaired at the public expense of the county. (K. Indictment Book, 1750–60). Ordered that the two high constables view and report. (Ibid). On the 18 September following it was ordered that the high constables do forthwith contract with some able and experienced workmen for the effectual repair of the half share of Crooked Lune Bridge, at as low a rate as possible. On a certificate that the bridge was then sufficiently repaired the indictment was discharged on 9 January, 1758, when it was ordered that the sum of £3 be paid to Richard Newby for the repair thereof. 1772 14 July. Ordered that Mr. Cooke, high constable of Lonsdale Ward, do pay the County's share for the repair of Crook o' Lune Bridge as contracted for K. Order Book, 1770–80.

1849 The Act for inclosing Dillicar Common was passed in 13 and 14 Victoria, c. 8.
1872 In an Act (35 Vict., c. 87) for conferring additional powers on the London and North-Western Railway Co., leave was given to make a new road, instead of the existing level crossing, commencing from and out of the turnpike road leading from Sedbergh to Borrow Bridge at a point thereon 80 yards north of the point where that road crosses the Railway on the level and terminating by a junction with the same road at a point thereon 20 yards or thereabouts south of the said level crossing. They may stop up and discontinue as a turnpike road or public highway and appropriate to the purposes of their undertaking so much of the before-mentioned existing turnpike road as extends for a distance of 5 yards on each side of the Railway.
