Tuesday, August 14. Present:—Mr. Grenville, Lord Dupplin, Mr. Townshend.
Miscellanies.
Read a letter from Captain Baird, Commander of his Majesty's ship the Surprize, dated at Portsmouth, the 6th of August, 1750, desiring this Board would impress to him a sum of money for support of a table for two young Africans he is directed to take to Africa.
Ordered that the Secretary do write to him to acquaint him that as this Board has not the disposal of any publick money whatever, they cannot comply with his request.
Barbados.
Read a letter from Mr. Grenville, Governor of Barbados, to
the Board, dated the 25th of June, 1750, inclosing the two
following papers, viz.:—
Copy of Captain Falkingham's letter to Monsieur de Ligny,
dated the 14th June, 1750.
Copy of Monsieur de Ligny's answer to Captain Falkingham,
dated the 26th June, 1750, N.S.
Ordered that the said letter and papers be forthwith copied to be transmitted to his Grace the Duke of Bedford, and the draught of a letter to his Grace therewith having been prepared, was agreed to, transcribed and signed.

North Carolina.
Read the following letters and papers from Gabriel Johnston,
Esquire, Governor of North Carolina, viz.:—
Letter from Mr. Johnston, Governor of North Carolina, to
the Board, dated at Edenton, the 22nd of May, 1749,
acquainting the Board that he shall put his Majesty's
orders, relative to the poor Palatines, into immediate
execution, and referring to a large quotation of the
method of levying taxes in that colony, transmitted by
him to the Board.
Letter from Mr. Johnston, Governor of North Carolina, to
the Board, dated at Edenton, the 21st of December, 1749,
relating to the state of his Majesty's Council in that
province, and transmitting:—
Minutes of Council, from the 3rd to the 14th April, 1749.
Letter from Mr. Johnston, Governor of North Carolina, to
Mr. Hill, dated at Edenton, the 16th of April, 1750,
inclosing an account of Indigo made in that province in
the year 1749, and acknowledging his having received
the Board's orders to make answer to Mr. McCulloch's
memorial.
