The manor (extent given), held of the king in chief, by service of finding the king in his army, a mounted crossbowman for forty days at the said Walter’s charges, and after the forty days at the king’s charges, and rendering 8s. yearly at the feast of St. Michael at the king’s exchequer by the hands of the men of Kyngeston, and 3s. to the said men.

Beaumundeston. The manor, held of Geoffrey son of William de Say by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee. And whereas it is found in the Book of Fees that Stephen de Bekewelle holds the manor of Bekewelle of Thomas del Hay, and he of the king, the jury say that the said Thomas was not an ancestor of the said William, and they say that all the ancestors of the said William del Hay were named Stephen del Hay, and that he never had any ancestor named Thomas.
His daughters, Agnes aged 24 years, and Joan aged 22 years, are his next heirs.

[CUMBERLAND.] Inq. taken at Penreth on Monday before the feast of St. Michael, 8 Edward III.
Ulnesby. An eighth part of the town, viz.—a toft and 12a. land, held of the king in chief, by homage and by service of rendering 4s. 3d. yearly to the king for cornage at his exchequer of Carlisle.
John, son of Adam de Carleton, sometime her husband, and of the aforesaid Sibyl, aged 15 years, is her next heir of the said tenements.
Ulnesby. A messuage burned by the Scots, five wasted tofts, 95a. wasted land and 5a. meadow, held for life, jointly with the aforesaid William and his heirs, of the king in chief, by homage and by service of rendering 4s. yearly, at his exchequer of Carlisle, for cornage.

The manor (extent given), held for her life, of the inheritance of the heir of the son of John de Burdeleys, deceased, who held of the king in chief, a minor and in the king’s wardship, of the king in chief by serjeanty, viz.—by service of coming to the king’s coronation with a knife and axe to perform the office of larderer; and the said manor is charged in 10 marks sterling to Robert de Burdeleys yearly for his life.
Tumston. 16s. yearly rent, customs, and perquisites of court, held of the same inheritance, which rent is held of the castle of Brumesfeld, now in the king’s hand, service unknown.

A messuage, 24a. land, and 1a. meadow, held for life, by fine levied in the king’s court, of the enfeoffment of John de Doughton, with remainders to John son of the said Thomas, the [eld]er, and the heirs of his body, and in default of such issue to George brother of the said John and the heirs of his body with reversion to the right heirs of the said Thomas, of the king by service of 6d. to be paid yearly at the castle of Norwich.
