Knapwelle. The said Sir Robert enfeoffed Sir Emery of 10l. land in the said town, to him and the heirs of his body, with reversion to the said Robert and his heirs. The said Emery died without such heirs, and the steward of the said Robert seized that land into his lord's hand, and afterwards put in seisin one William de Pateslee who had a letter patent from the said Sir John to receive the same, who took homage &c. for 15 days, until the subescheator believing that the said Emery held something of the king in chief, took the said land into the king's hand. The land is held in chief of the heir of Sir Alan de la Zuch. |

The said John was from his birth and is an idiot, and not sufficient for the management of himself or his lands or affairs. He has alienated the following lands &c. to William de Montecaniso of Edwardeston and his heirs:—
Finchingefeud. A messuage, 140a. (?) land, 60a. wood, 6a. meadow, 4a. pasture, 10s. rent and a windmill, at the feast of All Saints, 2 Edw. I.
Willingehale Spayne. A messuage and 2 carucates land, at the same time. For which feoffments he received a horse, price 5 marks.
Pilton in the town of Bradewell. A messuage, 120a. land, pasture in the marsh for 200 sheep, ½a. meadow, 30s. rent, and the service of a villein worth 4s. yearly, at Christmas, 4 Edw. I., for which he received nothing, but was promised sustenance for life.
