YORK. Inq. taken at York, 24 May, 51 Edward III.
Skelton. 20 marks yearly rent, held of the king in chief by knight’s service, receivable by the hands of the lords of the lordship of Skelton, with right of distress in the manor of Skelton in case of non-payment.
He died on 13 October, 49 Edward III. Joan his daughter, aged 10 years and more, was his heir, but she died about (citra) the feast of St. Nicholas, 49 Edward III, without heir of her blood. Mary his wife has received the rent since his death, by what title the jurors know not.

SALOP. Inq. taken at Wenlok, 3 March, 51 Edward III.
Longeleye. The manor, with the advowson of its chapel, held jointly with Margaret his wife, who survives, for their lives, by gift and feoffment of Reynold de Legh and Robert de Longeleye, chaplain, with successive remainders to Reynold and Edward, sons of the said Edward and Margaret, and the heirs of their bodies, and with ultimate remainder to the right heirs of the said Edward Burnel. It is held of the king in chief by service of a fourth part of a knight’s fee.
Okes. 20s. rent of assise, held jointly with the said Margaret, to them and the heirs of their bodies, by gift and feoffment of William Burnel of Longeleye. The said rent is held of the lord of Bykedon by service of a pair of white gloves yearly.
Adelescote. 2 carucates of land, held jointly with the said Margaret in fee tail, as above, of Fulk Fitz Waryn by service of a sparrowhawk yearly.
Brokton. 13s. 4d. rent of assise, held jointly with the said Margaret, to them and the heirs of their bodies, by gift and feoffment of William Burnel of Longeleye; tenure not known.
E. The manor (extent given), held of the lord of Wodecote by service of a rose yearly.
Shrewsbury. 13s. 4d. rent, held as a free burgage of the town.
He died on 6 February last. His daughters Joan, aged 27 years and more, wife of Roger de la Lee, Katharine, aged 25 years and more, and Hugelina, aged 21 years and more, wife of Robert le Keyne, are his next heirs.
Writ to the escheator to make further enquiry as to the tenure of the said rent in Brokton. 10 March, 51 Edward III.

SOUTHAMPTON. Inq. (indented) taken at Winchester, 6 June, 51 Edward III.
Brommore and Lemyngton. The manors (extents given), held of the king in chief, as of the fee of the earl of Aumale, by knight’s service. The extent of Brommore includes a park with deer. The extent of Lemyngton includes a house with a small close which serves for holding courts, 4l. 12s. 5d. rent in New Lemyngton and 30s. paid yearly by the burgesses of that town as farm for the tolls thereof, 14l. 6s. 8d. rent of free and bond tenants in Old Lemyngton and rents of salt there worth 14l. 4s. yearly, and a court and a view of frankpledge.
He died on 2 May last. Edward, son of Edward his son, aged 20 years and more, is his heir.
BERKS. Inq. (indented) taken at Abyndon, 3 June, 51 Edward III.
He held no lands &c. in the county.

BERKS. Inq. (indented) taken at Sottone Courtenay, 20 July, 1 Richard II.
Sottone Courtenay. The manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service. He was seised of the said manor and the manor of Wottesdone, co. Buckingham, in his demesne as of fee, and with the king’s licence gave them to Maud daughter of Thomas de Holand, knight, and the heirs which Hugh son of his son Hugh should beget of her body, with reversion to himself and his heirs, at a yearly rent of 44l. 16s. The said Hugh son of Hugh died without issue by Maud, and after his death the said Maud by her writing indented granted the manors with their appurtenances (except the advowsons of their churches) to the earl and his heirs for the term of her life, at a yearly rent of 200 marks, without the king’s licence. So the earl died in seisin of the manor of Sotton aforesaid.

The extent includes a park with deer, and a church divided into three portions whereof the advowson pertains to the manor.

Crukern. A moiety of the manor, with the advowsons of the church and chapel of the manor and of the chapel of Mistreton which is parcel of the manor, with the hundred of Crukern, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Another moiety of the manor, held jointly with Margaret his wife, who survives, to them and the heirs of the said Hugh, by a feoffment of William Chebeseye and John Horncastel, chaplains, made by a fine levied in the king’s court and with the king’s licence.
A messuage, 120a. land and 24s. rent, held jointly with the said Margaret, to them and his heirs, by divers feoffments made by John atte Halle and John Botard.
Westcoker. [The manor] (fn. 1), consisting of a site and 12l. rent of bondmen, with the advowson of the church, and the hundred of Cokere, held of the king in chief.

Hemyngton. The manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service. Long before his death he granted the said manor with its appurtenances, except the advowson of the church, to Robert Samborn, clerk, to hold [at his will], (fn. 2) rendering 40 marks yearly. So at his death he was seised of the said rent and the advowson. He also held a moiety of a messuage and of a virgate and a ‘ferdell’ of land there jointly with Margaret his wife by grant of Margaret Mulys to them and his heirs.
Sampforde Brit and Torveston. The manors, and 4l. rent in Wachet, Wiliton and Stokegummer, held of the heir of John Mohoun of Dunsterre by knight’s service. The earl held them jointly with Margaret his wife, for their lives, by grant of William Wike, parson of the church of Kenne, and John Southedon, parson of the church of Ho[nyton], by a fine levied in the king’s court, with successive remainders in tail male to Philip, Peter, Humphrey, Thomas and Edward, his sons, and with ultimate remainder to his right heirs.
Styuelegh. The manor, held of Thomas Fichet, as of his manor of Tril, co. Devon. The earl held it jointly, as above, by grant of the said John Southedon and John Syward, clerk, with successive remainders in tail male to Peter Courtenay and Philip Courtenay, knights, and with ultimate remainder to the right heirs of the earl and countess.
Jevelchestre and Sok. 8 messuages, a carucate of land and 20a. meadow, held of Richard Fyton by knight’s service. The earl held them jointly, as above, by grant of John Southedon, clerk, as appears by his charter, with successive remainders in tail male to Philip Courtenay and Peter Courtenay, and with ultimate remainder to the earl’s right heirs.
Burelesmulle in the manor of Westcoker. A messuage, 100a. land and 10a. meadow, held of the king in chief, as of the said manor. The earl held them jointly, as above, by grant of Roger Coker, with successive remainders in tail to William, Philip, and Peter, sons of the earl and Margaret his wife, and with ultimate remainder to the earl’s right heirs.
The earl died on Saturday the eve of the Invention of the Holy Cross, 51 Edward III. Heir as above, aged 20 years on the feast of the Invention of the Holy Cross last.
DORSET. Inq. (indented) taken at Shirborn, Saturday after Holy Trinity, 51 Edward III.
Ywernecourtenay. The manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Faryngdon. 44s. 11d. rent issuing from a mill and 50a. land (parcel of the last-named manor) which Alice late the wife of William de Stupelton held for life by demise of the earl.
Hulle by Ywernemynestre. The manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service. The earl held it jointly with Margaret his wife, to them and his heirs, by gift of William Chebesey and John Horncastel, chaplains, as appears by a fine levied in the king’s court and with the king’s licence.
Ebrighton. The manor, with the advowson of its church, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Corfton. The manor, with the advowson of its chapel, held of Edmund earl of March, as of his manor of Mersshwode. (fn. 3) The earl held it jointly with Margaret his wife, for the term of their lives, by grant of John son of William Salesbury by a fine levied in the king’s court, with successive remainders in tail to Edward and William, their sons, and with ultimate remainder to the earl’s right heirs. Edward died in the earl’s lifetime, and Edward his son, aged 20 years on the feast of the Invention of the Holy Cross last, is his heir.
Brodewyndesore. The manor with its hundred, held of the king in chief by knight’s service. The earl held it jointly, as last above, by grant of Robert Vaggescombe, canon of the cathedral church of Exeter, as appears by his charter tripartite made with the king’s licence, with successive remainders in tail male to Philip Courtenay and Peter Courtenay, and with ultimate remainder to the earl’s right heirs.

Coleton. The manor called Colecomb (extent given), with a moiety of the hundred of Coliton and with the borough of Colyforde adjoining the manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service. The extent includes a park, two corn-mills, a fulling-mill, and parcel of a fishery in the river Axe.
Mosebury. The manor (extent given), held of the honor of Okampton, services not known. The extent includes parcel of a fishery.
Whiteford. The manor, with a moiety of the hundred of Colyton, held of the king in chief by knight’s service. He held it jointly with Margaret his wife and Elizabeth de Veer, both of whom survive, to wit, to them and his heirs, by feoffment of Peter de Brewes, knight, and Robert Dauns, chaplain, by a fine levied in the king’s court and with the king’s licence.
La More. A messuage and 20a. arable, held of the last-named manor, services not known. He held them jointly with Margaret his wife, to them and their heirs and assigns, by charter of John Southdon, parson of the church of Honyton, and John Hodderesfeld.
